pauline hanson winning at least one senate seat just really brings home how damaging it is when the media gives bigots airtime so that they can ride the wave of public outrage.  stop giving these people a platform, i don’t care if it’s to point out how ridiculous they are. if the media hadn’t spent the last two years pretending what pauline hanson had to say was relevant maybe she would still be the racist political bogeyman of the 90s and not the racist political bogeyman of 2016.

no other person on this planet was made for you, they were made for themselves. love is all about choices. no one is going to be perfect for you, and i think we need to stop raising everyone on the belief that someone out there, just one other person in the whole world, was “made for you” because it isn’t true. no one is made for you, besides you. other people belong to themselves. if you want to make it work with someone, it’s about hard work, understanding, compassion, communication, and choice

When you look at the changes in the sexual cultural climate for teenage girls now compared to 8-10 years ago, it’s completely shocking. The fact that pressuring underage girls to send sexually explicit pictures (and harassing them with unsolicited sexual pictures) is now so common as to be near universal, the fact that teenage girls are being coerced into sex acts taken straight from violent pornography, and that all of this is becoming normalised because teenage girls don’t know anything different, is just unbelievable. And to make things worse, if girls are hurt by this, sex-positive feminism goes out of its way to assure them that none of it has anything to do with the increased access that teenage boys have to pornography (and that if they see links between what boys are first watching and then repeating, then they’re disgusting oppressors). Young girls are being brought up in the presence of male violence increasingly enacted through the internet, and they’re not being given the tools to name it for what it is.
