Life is too short for Depressing Books

I just… don’t get the whole brooding, domineering, over-sexualized persona that people somehow tied to Edward. Cause all I can think of is him being nervous about holding Bella’s hand. Or listening to her heartbeat. Or playing with her hair. Or holding her hand against his face like, “feel how warm it is?” and Bella’s like Umm it’s not really warm but at least I’m touching his face. One of the best things is the fact that Bella feels safe around Edward (a while back I was going to post a bunch of excerpts about this and there were too many - I just gave up). It’s not like she’s out there looking for danger or trying to be edgy or whatever nonsense it was that people were saying about her way back when. And Bella feeling safe around Edward isn’t because she’s being stupid or naive either. I love that part in midnight sun where Edward realizes that the waitress isn’t scared of him, and he says something about Emmett teasing him because he’d lost his edge. Because he’s been trying so hard to be safe and human for Bella, the usual scariness is gone. (It’s counterproductive, really, because he still tries so hard to tell Bella that he’s dangerous while simultaneously being the most gentle and safe person in existence). Why would you even want to turn Edward into some snide, domineering jerk? Don’t people want sincere, gentle, trustworthy, safe guys? Isn’t that the ideal? That’s what he’s supposed to be like. That’s what he is like (in the books). Why do people hate themselves? 

after bella turned, her and emmett started doing dumb immortal vampire shenanigans and at first rosalie and edward were like: no ??? but now they sit together like old housewives and talk about their dumbass spouses over some lion blood,

we deserved a scene where bella, high as shit on painkillers in the hospital from her most recent injury, doesn’t realize she’s talking to one of the cullens and adamantly sticks with the cover story and they all just start messing with her as she very loopily struggles to explain away everything they ask about
