miles ran his hand up and down your back, your head on his chest, one leg thrown on top of his stomach and your arm hugging him close to you. one of his legs was tangled with your other one and his other arm was wrapped around your waist.
he had been whispering things to you the moment he felt your breathing come to a calm and slow pace, your soft breath making him feel butterflies in his stomach. he hated the feeling but he couldn’t help it when he was with you so he became used to it.
everytime he sees you always felt like the first, the moment he saw you he felt those butterflies but at the time he didn’t know what they were because he never had that feeling before. with time he realized what they meant and thought that they would go away when he confessed but life proved him wrong.
“te amo tanto, sabías?” he whispered. “desde el momento que te ví.”
it was love at first sight for him, it was a cliché and he had completely despised that it happened to him but that negative feeling disappeared when he got to know you.
“i though you were beautiful…” he continued. “that’s why i bothered you.” he let out a quiet chuckled at that.
miles had started to annoy you after the first meeting, not even waiting a day. you sat next to him in class due to assigned seats and he took that as an advantage to make your learning impossible in that class, and was even worse in the hallway where no teacher was looking and stopping him from doing so.
“i would do anything for you,” his hand stopped moving, coming to a stop at the small of your back. “even kill for you.”
it was true, miles had almost beat up a guy to death when the fucker tried to lay his hands on you. if it wasn’t because you were there telling him to stop with tears in your eyes, fear clear in them, he would’ve killed the guy.
he later discovered that the fear wasn’t directed towards him, but because of what would happen to him if he killed someone in public where there were many witnesses, no mask covering his face to protect him from his crime.
“i would even die for you.” his hand continued with his previous movement.
another truth, he remembers that time you were kidnapped by one of his many enemies. it was right after breaking up with you for a fifth time to protect you from his life as the prowler, but it was useless because you were used against him anyway. but even then he gave himself in just to save you, not making a plan because it would put your life in danger, he had been unaware of the plan his uncle had made.
“anything, mi princesa…” he finished, placing a kiss on top of your head.
“you’re a real simp, ain’t you.” he heard his uncle’s voice.
miles looked at his bedroom door, wondering when the hell did his uncle opened the door without him even realizing.
“getting rusty, huh?” his uncle leaned against the frame. “didn’t even notice i was here at all while you were saying all the lovey-dovey shit.”
miles rolled his eyes and spoke, trying hard not to sound embarrassed. “do you need something?”
“nah, just checking on you.” uncle aaron shrugged. “today’s mission was pretty rough, but you seem to be doing just fine.”

his uncle laughed, making sure it was not loud enough to wake you. “i know you’re embarrassed right now, no need to pretend.” he then turned more serious. “if you really care that much about her, make sure she feels the same way, miles. don’t want you getting hurt.”

at first he was worried that his mom wouldn’t accept you or get along with you because in that case he would’ve no choice but to break up with you in order to not make his mom uncomfortable.

Your soft lips pressed testimonies of your love upon the surface of Miles’ smooth skin, your giggles of excitement muffled as you kissed his temple, the apple of his cheek, the tip of his nose, the corner of his lips— anywhere you could easily reach, really.
Steady hands cradled the dip of your back to keep you in your straddled position on his lap, gentle fingers ghosting over the fold of your waistband and one of his eyes pinched closed in preparation for more of your frenzied affection.
“Jeez, you love me love me, huh?” he laughed, his answer presented to him in the way your kisses began to trail along his jaw, then started further down the column of his neck, his pulse gently thrumming against your gloss-tinted lips as the pace of his heart quickened.

Stunned eyes locked onto Miles’ for a beat, just to see if they were as wide as yours, or if they held just as much panic— and they did. Without a word spoken you scrambled off his lap faster than you’d even gotten there in the first place, his mirroring of your movements almost causing him to tumble off the bed. The room was thrust into a discord of silenced chaos for a few panicked seconds, your body spinning in two aimless half-circles with disoriented, wafting hands; as if the ridiculous looking movement could actually assist your anxiety frazzled brain in coming up with a plan.
Miles ruffled his sheets, hands frantically splaying around to find anything that would be useful in this moment until a shirt came into your view— a hurried, whisper-shout of his name tearing from your throat to get his attention. You swiftly kicked it up from the floor with your foot, flinging it towards his face and watching as his hand shot out in front of him to catch it not even a second after you’d punted it.
The graphic t-shirt you’d found managed to scrub his face clean of the incriminating evidence, not that you had much time to check the success rate of that as you were rushed out of the room hastily, your boyfriend’s hands plastered against the lower-middle of your back to usher you out the room in large steps, your feet having to shuffle to keep up.
“Dios mio, mile—!“ his mother’s voice fell short when the two of you chaotically stumbled your way into the kitchen, your lips tucked into themselves as you stood at attention, hands politely clasped behind you, while Miles was off to the side, shoulder leaned against the adjacent wall, legs crossed and hands on his hips. “Oh,” she blinked, giving the two of you a quick once over. The first thing she noticed was her son’s unusual demeanor, his eyes big and brows raised high, an expression he only wore when he was doing something he wasn’t supposed to be. But what really gave it away was the strange distance of a few feet wedged between the both of you. Just over an hour ago you guys had embraced one another in a long hug after he’d opened the door to let you in—right in front of her— and now, you were suddenly acting as if you were scared to even be near each other, like you were nervous to breathe the same air in her presence.
“Mm,” she turned back towards the stove to turn the rice over in the pot, allowing the both of you to exhale a trembled breath of relief, one you realized came prematurely merely milliseconds after it left your lungs. “I think you may have missed one, enamorado.” (lover boy)

Taking a discreet glance at your sneakers, you roll your eyes as you notice that they're, in fact, loose and dragging on the concrete. Not wanting to disturb people on the sidewalk, you take two steps to the side to tie your shoe in there, only to end up tripping over the ungodly long shoelace and nearly falling face flat to the ground.
"Do I need to teach you how to walk or something?" Riki teases from above you, hands on your waist as his grip on you is the only thing keeping you away from the concrete.
Once he's sure you're balanced again, he sighs heavily before crouching down in front of you.
"What are you doing?" You ask in confusion, watching as he grabs your white shoelaces in between his long fingers.

Shoving him to the side, you miss to spot the large crack in the sidewalk, causing you to trip again and lurch forward, falling on your bare knees. You whine quietly, glaring at the gap in between the concrete tiles.
"Fuck, are you okay?" Riki asks, rushing to grab you under your arms and pull you back on your legs. You wince at the soreness in your knees and you look down, noticing the thin stream of blood seeping through the broken skin. "Jesus, you're such a clutz."
"It's all your fault," you pout, putting the blame on your best friend. "You were so annoying, I forgot to look where I was going!"
Riki scoffs at your poor excuse before stepping away to take a better look at your hurt knees. A slight frown appears on his face and you shift in your place, not used to being an object of such intense attention. "It's just a small cut, nothing big," you try to dismiss it, eager to start walking again. "It's probably only gonna bruise, that's all."

"I just don't want you to get hurt," he replies with a voice uncommonly soft for him before getting back to his usual cheeky self. "You're so ugly when you cry. Scares the living shit out of me each time."
His words echo through your head and your face is already burning by the time you realize that you were right and he's actually genuinely concerned for you.
"Shut up, you sound like you have a crush on me or something," you mumble out, embarrassed.
"Yeah, maybe I do."
He's so sickeningly composed as he looks at your face being struck with shock - eyes widening, mouth dropping slightly as you gape at him.
"Y-You what?" You involuntarily stutter, instantly abandoning your cool facade. Your heart is in your throat right now and no matter how much you swallow, it doesn't go away. "Stop joking around like that. It's not funny."
"It wasn't supposed to be," he huffs, eyes bright and confident as he pierces you through with his gaze. "Don't give me that look. Are you really that slow? I thought you already knew. All of our friends caught up last year."
"Last year?" You exclaim. You grasp onto any sanity left in you after his confession, absolutely convinced you're about to faint.
"Well, yeah. But I've liked you way longer than that."
And suddenly you it all connects together in your head. How he smiles a little too much whenever you're around. How you've caught his gaze across the classroom one too many times before he he tried to play it off and roll his eyes at you. The way he claims all of your jokes are so 'stupid' and yet he never fails to laugh his heart out after hearing them. As you start putting all the puzzles together, you realize that perhaps he's not lying after all and maybe you're really that oblivious.
"Damn, you must like me a lot, huh?" You tease him, trying to turn the tables and catch him off guard for a change.
"That I do. But probably not as much as you like me," he says and your heart suddenly forgets how to work properly. You gawk at him in confusion. "Sunoo spilled. I know you feel how I feel," he explains, earning a betrayed gasp from of you.
"That big-mouth traitor!"
"Hey, at least that gave me the green light to come clean to you, no?" He asks, pulling you closer by the waistband of your shorts. "Cut him some slack. It's not like he meant to snitch on you anyway. I kinda put him against the wall."
You can't stop the big smile from crawling onto your lips as you let out a giddy laughter, one that nearly has Riki's knees buckling here and there.
"So what are we gonna do with this anomaly now?"
You watch as the corners of his mouth irk up as he leans down and brushes his nose against yours.
"Well, I think a date is what you normally start the relationship with. But since when are we normal?"
You fail to suppress your smile again. Riki's just too charming for his own good, you both know that. Raising on your toes, you gently brush your lips against his, pressing a butterfly kiss on his plush mouth. You need to pull away because you're sure your heart is about to explode in no second. Kissing him feels like too much and not enough at the same time, making your mind go in a haze.
"Thought you could do better than that."
You gasp at his statement, hitting his arm at his boldness. He rubs the itching place with a wince and sends you a pointing look. "Be gentle, please. You wouldn't want to give your boyfriend a sore arm now, would you? How else would he carry your bag every day after school?"
You scoff and bite back a smile as you take a glance at your backpack hooked over his shoulder. "Boyfriend?" You ask instead.
"Yeah. You're my girl now," he says as if it's the most obvious thing in the entire world. With a shrug, he envelops your hand in his, intertwining your fingers together before he starts walking again. "Come on. I should probably take you out for dinner now, huh?"

Before you knew it, you no longer had the capacity to grab another article of clothing, your hands desperately clinging onto the pile of items you picked out. Wobbling a little, you search the aisles to find the boy, immediately spotting him due to his height
Picking up the pace a little, you jog like an excited puppy to the Japanese boy, anticipating his reaction to your picks. Approaching closer, he spots you, just about to say something before you trip over yourself, expecting your fall to be broken by the ridiculously high pile of clothes but instead you feel a pair of hands on your waist
"Not so fast, angel what's the rush" he teases before helping you up, taking a majority of the clothes from your hands
"And what happened to not being interested? Are you saying I didn't need to bribe you with ice cream after all?" He says through a smile, admiring the blush that creeps upon your cheeks

A finger hooks under your chin, forcing you to meet his gaze as he leans down to your level a little, man he really loves making you feel short

"And make me go alone, come on" he bits lip expectantly, taking your hand in his, guiding you to the fitting room

Shaking off the stupid grin on your face, you opt for trying on his first pick, slipping it on while eyeing yourself in the mirror. You had to admit, it hugged you perfectly.
Opening the curtain, his eyes meet yours before they pan down to your figure, biting his lip a little
"Can you do a little twirl for me, angel?" He says softly, giving you his full, undivided attention. Following his request, you can't help but giggle a little

Rio and Jeff raised their son to be a respectful, bright, young man. They made sure that everyone around him had a somewhat good influence on him growing up and it proved to be a clear success as he entered the Brooklyn Visions Academy. His parents were very proud of him and his accomplishments, clearly showing it through their overflowing love for him. They were also very protective over him, refusing to let him do certain things with certain people. One overprotective rule that Miles’ parents set up for him was he wasn’t allowed to date unless they had done a complete background check and the suitor had to pass the ‘parent’ interview.
Safe to say he hasn’t tried to bring home a girl since his parents set that rule in middle school.
And when he started sophomore year, he started having a crush. More specifically on you.
You both had classes together since he joined the academy and you never interacted until he finally got the courage to talk to you in freshman year. By talking, he definitely stumbled over his words for a bit but eventually was able to pull the shoulder touch his Uncle Aaron had taught him. You, of course, let out a soft laugh at that but coughed to cover it up. A friendship had started and the pair was soon falling for the other as that friendship grew. The feeling between you two was undeniably mutual, but the stupid rule had been nagging at the back of his mind, forcing him to never confess. And you, being as oblivious as ever, never thought of it as anything, even if you did like him back.
Until a physics class that requires a partner project to be done.
“You’ll be working with your lab partners. This will count as sixty percent of your grade, so do well on this. I expect nothing less…” The teacher proceeded to give instructions on the assignment as you and Miles were giggling over something really stupid by the back. “Especially you two.”
Immediately, you both sit up straight, taking the packet she was handing out to the class. She took one last glance at the pair and sighed,
“You will be working on this assignment for several months and will be…”
As your final class dismissed, Miles was walking you to your dorm, hands grazing every so often. It was common for Miles to walk you back to your school dorm, usually tossing in some of his corny jokes on the way there. But today’s conversation was a bit… Different.
“So…”
“So?” Miles glances your way, a smile etching a way to his face.
“Does this project mean I get to see your room growing up and meet Miles Morales’ famous parents for the first time ever?” You question, messing with the loose string of the bracelet he had made you.
Miles freezes at your words, trying to come up with a reason to not go to his house. “Well, they’re uh, always you know, busy so it might be like difficult to plan a day.”
“Aw, that sucks.” You jokingly pout, nudging his side. “Your parents seem so cool based on your stories.”
“Uh-huh, yeah…” He gives an awkward chuckle and scratches the back of his neck. “I’ll see you tomorrow then, amor?”
“Yep.” You grin, backing into your dorm door, and attempted to find the door handle. “We gotta, you know… yeah… Later.”
“Later.” He half waves.
Two months passed after being handed the assignment and procrastinating over what topic to choose, the pair finally decided to start. Weekends are full of library studies, coffee shop studies, dorm studies, and any type of place where you two could do your research, you were there. Eventually, the studies were long enough to make Rio and Jeff skeptical about why their son would come no home later with such a lovestruck look on his face.
“Papi, what’s with the face?” Rio asks her son, watching him come back home on a Saturday night.
“Mm?” Miles puts his bag down, thoughts filled with nothing but you. “I’m good, how are you?”
“That’s not what your mother asked, Miles.” Jeff crossed his arms, tilting his head. “Have you been feeling well? Every weekend you come home from school and you seem distracted.”
“I… You know, I’ve been doing schoolwork, working on projects. The usual.” Miles shrugged and crossed over to his room. “Nothing weird or anything.”

“Hey, Miles.” You catch up to him in the hall. “So, we can’t go to my house this weekend for the project, my parents are out on a business trip.”
“That’s a bummer.” He pursed his lips, thinking of where to work on the project.
“Yeah… But I was thinking,” You walk with your hands intertwined behind your back. “We could go to your house this weekend? I know your parents are always working, but you said they're fine with you home on your own…”
“You just wanna see my room, huh?” He wraps an arm across your shoulders, making you flush red.
“No…” You look away, smiling and biting your lip.
Miles chuckles at you, “I’ll ask my parents anyway and then maybe you can see my room.”
“Maybe it's a chance I’ll take, Morales.” You turn your head to face him, unaware of how close you two are suddenly. “All the cool trinkets in there and whatnot.”
“Trinkets?” He scrunched his nose at the word. Sure, maybe one or two collectibles, but not trinkets. “I don’t have trinkets.”
“Mhm.” You continue to tease, letting him guide you to your next class. “Whatever you say.”
On the Friday Miles came home from the academy to stay at his parents’ place for the weekend, he mustered up the courage to ask his parents if it was okay for you to come over. The moment he stepped into the place, he helped anywhere he could, trying to get on both his parents' good side. When dinner rolled around, he tried his luck.
“So…” Miles started his ‘mission’ to get his parents to let you come over with the same mannerisms you use.
Rio raises a brow at her son, “So?”
“I was wondering if my friend could come over tomorrow? And maybe other weekends?” He drummed his fingers on the dining table, earning silence from both his parents. After a few beats, Miles opens his mouth to speak again but his father beats him to it.
“Have we met this friend?” Jeff asked with an undertone Miles couldn’t quite pick out.
“No, but—“
“Dios mío, Miles, how can we let them come over if we’ve never met them?” His mother gave a stern look, sending a shiver down his spine.
“It’s for a project, mami. You would like her—“
“A GIRL?” Both his parents shout in surprise as they cut off their son once more.
“Well, yes, but—“
“¿Estás saliendo con ella?” Rio starts to interrogate her son and her husband is still surprised at the comment.
“No, mami.” Miles huffed at the question, yet still, a faint blush dusted his cheeks. “Ella es solo una friend.”
“Let me get this straight, your partner for a project is a friend we’ve never met before, and a girl?” Jeff squinted his eyes at him. “Wait, is this the same girl the reason you’ve been coming home late?”
“Not late, just workin’ on a project.” Miles mumbled.
“What was that?”
He sat up straight, “Nothing.”
Rio sighed as she got up and beckoned her husband to follow. Miles watched them as they conversed in the kitchen, completely oblivious to the plan his parents formulating. The pair knew that this girl was the crush Miles had, so why not find more out?

“Your mom and I decided that your friend could come over,” Jeff stated, watching Miles and his reactions. “But with some rules.”

“If the both of you are in your room, the door must be opened at least three inches minimum and one parent has to be home. Lucky for you, I’m not on the clock on Saturdays.” Rio points out. “¿Entiendes, hijo?”
“Sí, yes.” Miles shot out of his seat, immediately grabbing his phone to text you. “Thank you!”
“That son of yours.” Rio shook her head in amusement, grabbing the empty plates.
“He’s your son too!” Jeff followed behind, grabbing the dirty cups and bowls.

“I got it!” Miles stumbles out of his room, racing to the door. However, his mother beats him to it. “Shit.” He whispers under his breath.
“Hi, you must be Y/N.” Rio gives you a wide smile, shaking your hand. “I’m Miles’ mom, it’s nice to meet you.”
“It’s nice to meet you as well, Mrs. Morales.” You return the smile.
“You know, Miles—“
“OKAY— Mamá, we’re just gonna work on the project in my room.” Miles grabbed your hand and pulled you with him. “Don’t mind her.”
“I like your mom, she’s nice.” You wave back at her before entering his room. “It’s— Whoa.” You stare at the room in amazement. How his room was an exact representation of his personality and thoughts. From the record players to the drawing desk filled to the highly decorated room with awards, posters, some of his art, and the small clutter, it felt like something Miles was like as a person.
“Is that a good whoa or a bad whoa?”
You stand in the middle of his room, still looking around. “You do have trinkets in your room.”
“Wha— I do not!” He silently pushes the door to the three-inch minimum.
“Yeah, you do.” You take a seat on his spinning office chair, putting your tote bag down. “You can’t even lie anymore.”
“Man, shut up.” He shoved your shoulder lightly. “Let’s work on this project first and then you can say whatever you want about my beautifully decorated room.”
“Beautifully is a very strong word.” You murmur, earning a playful glare. “My bad!”
Working on the project seemed like it would go on forever. Only small talk for advice on certain points of the presentation. At some point, Miles was hanging upside down on his bed and you were laying across the floor, staring blankly at your computer screen.
You open your mouth to speak but close it, finding nothing to talk about. You groan, turning to find Miles staring at you already.
“Can I help you?” You raise a brow, wondering how he hasn’t gotten lightheaded from being upside down for too long.
“Nah.”
“Okay, then…” You feel your face heat up from his lack of response. From embarrassment or him being so casual with it, you don’t know.
You quickly look back to your screen and scroll a bit, “Uhm, the bit about—“
“What’re your thoughts about Spider-man?” Miles suddenly asks out of the blue.
“He’s— Excuse me, what?” You whip your head back to face him. “That is the most random question you could ask right now.”
He shrugs, still upside down, “He just seems like a pretty neat guy.”
“I mean, I haven’t seen him personally, but I’ve seen many clips.” You sit up for the first time in a while, stretching. “Why, d’you have a celebrity crush on him or something?”
“What? No! No, m’just curious.” He sat up as well, shifting around to face you.
You hum, “I think we need a break from working on this project, our brains are clearly not functioning properly anymore. Especially with you hanging upside down for so long.”
“Yeah… Sure.” He let out an awkward laugh, helping you stand up off the floor. “What d’you wanna do then?”
“I don’t know, what do you usually do when you’re bored?” You rock on your heels, admiring the stuffed toy he failed to put away.

You follow her and listen to her instructions on how to prepare certain foods, nodding along and making mental notes. Miles, on the other hand, just sat on a stool in front of the kitchen island, supposedly chopping up a vegetable. Really, he was staring at you with a yearning look, watching you converse with his mother.
“Oye, Miles!” Rio smacked the back of her son’s head with little force, making him snap out of his daze. He looked around and saw his mother standing with her hands on her hips while you were trying to stifle a laugh. He looked down, realizing he wasn’t even chopping anything.

Miles went back to chopping while you spoke to Rio, learning new things about your best friend.
“You know,” She added some spices to her pot. “Every weekend whenever you guys work on your project, he comes home with such a lovesick look. And, I’m noticing, even if I just met you, he puts all his attention on you no matter whoever or whatever is around him.”
“What?” You widen your eyes, looking over at Rio.
“Mm?” She gave you a cheeky grin, making you baffled.
You stammer like a fish out of water, “I— You just— I thought you…”
“Why don’t you and Miles start setting up the table? I can take over from here.” She directed where all the plates and utensils were before shooing you off, making sure you took Miles with you.
“Hey! I wasn’t done… with that…” Miles' voice faltered when he noticed his mother nudging her head for him to follow his friend. “Uh… Okay?”
“Yep, okay. Everything is fine.” You pull him with you, making him grab the utensils. “Everything is totally fine. Your mom totally didn’t just tell me something weird. NOT weird! I mean, it really depends on the context and how one would use that information and such. Like—“
“Are you good?” He stops your rambling with a bump to your hip.
“Mhm!” You nod vigorously, not meeting his eyes. “I’m totally good.”
“Right.” He gave you a concerned look, following you as he set the table. “What did my mom tell you exactly?”
“Nothing!” Your voice went higher than usual. You clear your throat, “Nothing. Just asking about the project s’all. Nothing to worry about.”
“The project?”
“Yes.”
“My mom asked about the project we were working on?”
“Yup.”
“And what did you say?”
“Uhm…”
You finally lock eyes with his brown ones, losing focus on the question asked.
“Miles—“
Suddenly, the front door swings open, interrupting the moment the two teens almost shared. Jeff had come back from his shift and straight away found the pair a bit too close for a couple of friends.
“I’m just gonna… RIO, BABY?” Jeff leaves and goes to the kitchen, not wanting to disrupt more than he already did.
“What were you gonna say?”
You stare at Miles for a bit longer before breaking it, wrapping your arms around yourself. “I…” You grow frustrated at your stupid feelings, not understanding how his mother could leave you without any context.
“I should probably go, I don’t wanna intrude on your dinner.” You mumble, heading to his room to grab your stuff.
He stood, watching you with a dumbfounded look. “Wait, what?”
Miles quickly followed in your footsteps, shutting and locking the door behind him.
“What the fuck. Miles, let me out.” You stare up at him again, forgetting how tall he was and had grown.
“No. Whatever my mom said to you obviously altered your brain in a way that you can’t grasp the concept of it.”
“Did you just call me stupid in a smart way?”

“Fuck.” He fell back on his bed, making you flinch.
A silence fell over the both of you, neither knowing what to say. It wasn’t too often where you and Miles had nothing to say, but the tension was high, and if the wrong thing was said, this whole thing would go down the drain within seconds.
“It’s true, you know,” Miles says just above a whisper, making you look at him. “I do put my attention on you whenever you're near.”
You stay silent, just listening.
“I do that because,” He rubs his face, scared to face you at any moment. “I like you.”

“Shut up.” He groans, dropping his head to your shoulder.
“Make me.” You tease, not expecting him to take it seriously.

You open your mouth to say something but his lips take over, instantly fogging your brain up and taking interest in the boy in front of you instead, using your free hand to cup his cheek. He pulled you closer by the waist, making you giggle into the kiss.
“You hopeless romantic.” You part from him, eyes locked with him.
“Technically, I’m your hopeless romantic.”
You roll your eyes, “Shut up.” And you kiss him again, this time catching him by surprise.

That all created a plan for miles (that he haven't thought of just yet )
He decied to ask his dad for the best advice.
