Oh, how Lillie loved being able to spend the day just with her mother. She loved her father and brother too, of course, but the special mother-daughter days were some of Lillie’s favorites, especially with Mother being as important as she was when it came to Pokémon protection!

Lillie set her shopping bag down and pulled out the stuffed Rowlet she’d picked up at the store, thinking as Mother released her team and she giggled when Buneary hopped over.

“Hi Buneary!” Lillie said, holding out the Rowlet. “Look! I got a Rowlet!”

Without waiting for an answer from Buneary, Lillie turned to her mother with a wide grin. “Can we play music please, Mother?”

Buneary hopped onto the Rowlet, making small, curious noises. Lusamine smiled affectionately at Lillie.

“… You tell all your personal problems to strangers you’ve just met?” The look on the diety’s face said everything. Well, at least she seemed to have remorse for what she did. That or she was just trying to get attention by making others pity her. Both were a likely possibility.

“Look, I don’t know what you done,” A lie, he knew exactly what Lusamine has done, “But you can’t change the past. All you can do is work towards a brighter future.”

It was very much generic advise, but it seemed like Lusamine was just looking for anything to cling on to, or something like that. Still, technically Koko was also lying about not being able to change the past, but in this case you it’s more like you shouldn’t try to change the past.

Oh boy, Koko sure hope Lusamine wasn’t going to actually try to change the past…

He was right, she shouldn’t be sharing this all with him. Still, it was at least distracting her from Lillie, who was still up in the tree with the birds. As nice of a time she seemed to be having, Lusamine was still worried she would fall.

Oh no, what was Lillie doing? Feeding the birds? Koko would say to let their parents do the feeding, but considering what Lillie’s been though she probably wouldn’t understand or agree. Great all he probably should do is catch Lillie in case she falls. Which was 60% likely to happen. Sigh.

Oh great, now Lusamine was talking to him. Well he can’t just ignore her, nor can he just leave because he had to watch over Lillie. Looks like the universe was conspiring against him to force him to talk to Lusamine. What a pain. Koko decided to suck up his pride and ignore his feelings towards this woman and spoke to her.

“Uh, yeah. Children grow up fast don’t they? Soon they’ll be leaving the nest right…” Oh, maybe he shouldn’t have said that. It was supposed to be something funny because of the Pikipeks, but considering it was Lusamine the deity doubted she would take that very well.  

Oh well, if she some how snaps, that would give Koko the perfect excuse to beat her up. Well, it would be if it wasn’t for the fact he would be doing it in front of Lillie…

Lillie, in some ways, had already left the nest. She had already gone out and traveled on her own, she was training pokemon now, and had already grown so much. Lusamine told herself that as much as the thought upset her, she knew the man was right. “Yes, they do. But it’s necessary. I think especially in our case.” Lusamine admitted.

You like to be in control and hate to see things stagnate. You need to be constantly moving, or at least constantly planning how to get ahead. When things start to slow down, you'll find a way to get them moving and shaking again! You're very goal-oriented, and you'll reach them, too — as long as you stay focused. You've got a strong competitive urge and you like to come out on top. You're certainly not backward about coming forward!

You're often at your best when you have to assert yourself and take charge of the situation. Many people don't know what to do with someone who is direct and truthful!

Like everyone else, you have your faults, and there are times when your life seems to spin out of control. In an effort to find some kind of balance again, sometimes you take too much control, coming across as aggressive and bossy. You cannot control everything, and at times like this, you have to prioritize and pick your battles wisely. You don't have to be in control of everything, and often it's best not to be. It gives others a chance to grow and to learn things that will enhance their own lives.

“i need you.” (Gladion)

Lusamine had barely slept in three days. It was only a few weeks after Mohn’s disappearance, and she was slowly losing her mind. She had spent days just alone in her room, sobbing. Her children were grieving too, and yet Lusamine couldn’t bring herself to strengthen herself for them. She was falling apart and didn’t know how to fix it. 

Looking exhausted, she glanced over to Gladion as he appeared in her bedroom. She was at her desk, sitting there unknowing of how to comfort her son. Trying to push back the tears, she reached for one of her pokeballs. She glanced back down at the desk then as she held up Clefable’s ball. 

“Clefable, go.” she murmured. Clefable appeared from her pokeball, looking between her trainer and Gladion in confusion. “I’m sorry. I’m not myself right now, Gladion. Perhaps spending time with Clefable will help.”

Lillie had never been a huge fan of the formal dinners; she didn’t understand why they had to get all dressed up for them, or most of the speeches being given, but she did understand that her parents were receiving an award, and that made having to dress up and interact with people she didn’t know worth it. Lusamine and Mohn were the best parents after all, they deserved all the awards.

“It’s okay,” she answers, perking up a little as her mother joins her at the table. She smiles and points across the table with an orange crayon in her hand, to where Gladion is excitedly talking to a girl with a Torchic plushie.

“We did! Her name is May. She’s… um…” Lillie frowns when she realizes she doesn’t actually remember the name of the girl’s dad, and just points with her crayon again to where the Hoenn professor stood, talking with a few other professors from different regions. 

“I’m drawing a Torchic for her! She said it’s her favorite Pokemon! But Mother, if you want you can try some of my food! It’s not as good as your’s.” She’d only eaten half of it, and she pushes the plate of half-eaten noodles and vegetables in front of Lusamine. 

Lusamine gazed sweetly at her daughter, listening to Lillie regale her with talk of this other child. She looked over when said child was pointed to, and chuckled a bit. Gladion certainly seemed thrilled. She looked over to where Lillie pointed at May’s father as well before looking back to her daughter.

“I’m glad you’ve found entertaining things. I was worried you would be bored.” she murmured. “Your Torchic looks lovely, Lillie. You’ve done a really good job with its eyes.” 

Lusamine picked up a fork and poked it into one of the vegetables. She began taking nibbles of it as she continued.

“Well, I’m going to try stealing your Father away and then we can head back home, alright? I’ll be sure to tell Professor Birch that you and Gladion enjoy May’s company, perhaps set up a playdate in the future.” she promised. She held out her hand to Lillie as she stood. “He’ll be more convinced to go home with you by my side.” Lusamine chuckled. 

These kind of formal dinners were becoming increasingly common as the Aether Foundation was getting off the ground. Meeting with other Pokemon conservation groups, other foundations, meeting with scientists, holding auctions, charity balls, award ceremonies. Tonight was one of those, where Mohn and Lusamine were receiving an award. The International Pokemon Conservationist Award was being presented to them. Unfortunately, this meant that more and more of their attention was being pulled away from their children, but they were both trying to be less involved in the whole thing when they could be. Mohn was with the children earlier, now it was Lusamine’s turn at avoiding their researchers and investors.

After accepting the award and the two of them giving a speech, Mohn was pulled away by an investor and Lusamine went to check on how Gladion and Lillie were at the kids’ table, where some children of other presenters and award receivers were. She joined them here, sitting in one of the tiny chairs. She smiled brightly at her children.
