Watched The Search for the Leviathan and i'm seeing quite a few people questioning why c!Wifies is so skeptical of the Leviathans existence when he's already encountered the Metaphysical so often. The last phenomenon he covered was the The King in Yellow for fucks sake.
Well I think those are exactly why he's so skeptical of the Leviathan.
Even when just comparing it with the DMS Entitys it becomes clear that the Leviathan is Different. C!Wifies goes into this expecting this -if it is real- to unfold similiar to all the Others he's seen, but it doesn't and that makes him so skeptical.
In all the DMS cases it becomes obvious rather quickly that Something Is Wrong. Player that doesn't exist? The first look at Alexs footage was enough to see that something is Happening. Xtremegamer11? Just a few minutes into his first video things become Odd And Concerning. Searching for a world that doesn't exist? The message D3rlord3 left Avery already throws up a lot of red flags and shit becomes Weird early on in D3rlord3s footage as well.
The Leviathan? Nothing. All he has are a bunch of claimed sightings that show absolutly Nothing. And when he starts to look into things? Nothing happens. No Ominous Figures or Cryptic Messages. Nothing. Just a guy who really really wants him to believes the Leviathan is real.
Of course there's is Weird here -Hummers lack of Log In and Death message and not being acknowledged by other players- but c!Wifies doesn't notice because he is no longer the passive observer of the Entity, able to dissect the footage piece by piece. He an active part now; and I'm sure as every Person who ever streamed themself playing something to an audience can tell you: You sometimes just don't notice the shit that's very obvious to the audience.
c!Wifies is so skeptical because the Leviathan is Passive. It does not actively seek out players once It has Access to them, It makes them come to It. And even That is passive. It does not chase them towards it through strange and elaborate terrain like The King in Yellow did with D3rlord3. Or affect their mind to push them to seek It out like Archive did with Alex.
All It asks is for you to belive in it. Sincerly.
If we assume Hummer is an extention or part of the Leviathan, all It does to get you to come to It is Ask. Hummer does not manipulate or otherwise try to fuck with c!Wifies head. When c!Wifies first shows doubt about continuing the search on Arronaxs server Hummer is dissapointed but doesn't push further until c!Wifies admits that he thinks that this can't be all there is to It.
Hummer tries to push c!Wifies into believing, but doesn't try to keep him when he genuinely doubts. c!Wifies was the one who pushed back the doubt, sometimes with uplifting words from Hummer; but those wouldn't have worked if he didn't want to believe.
The Leviathan wants- needs you to believe in It, with utter sincerity. No direct prodding or Supernatural Influence. Just pure inherent Believing.
It acts so inherently different than the Others c!Wifies encountered that nothing Wrong happened until c!Wifies Believed. Hence his constant skepticisim during the video.
