Final Remix

Well, I had a few days of peace, but now @recordsystem has gotten in on the ‘let’s lie about Korrasera’ bandwagon.

I had an argument several months ago with indigenousandangry because I pointed out that they’d misinterpreted a statement, which got me called a racist for disagreeing with something indigenousandangry had said. So @recordsystem was crawling my blog, looking for something to attack me on, and settled on re-igniting that particular fire. They decided to pull out the bullshit they were helping promote during my recent argument, calling me an abuser, an attention seeker, and so on. And that to someone who as far as I can tell already hated my guts because I told them they had misunderstood something someone said on twitter.

This is one of the reasons why it’s important to address problems of abusiveness and manipulation when they crop up. Because when you let people hurt others, when they grow to feel entitled to lie about people to get what they want, they wind up encouraging other people to do the same.

People like @recordsystem are going to attack people like this because they feel comfortable being a bully, as long as they’re backed up by other bullies. It doesn’t matter that they lie about people, participate in harassment and emotional manipulation or abuse, or excuse abusiveness on the part of people in their own camp. To these people, those things are completely justifiable. Anyone who disagrees with you is wrong and might makes right, so people they want to bully need to back down and know their place

And one of the reasons they feel comfortable doing that is because it’s still pretty uncommon that anyone gets called on their abusive bullshit. Bullies don’t always get challenged and we can always handle them better than we do.

And if we don’t deal with people who are abusive, if we don’t deal with people who manipulate people, we get people like this. And if you want to know what tears apart communities? It’s shit like this. Because people like @recordsystem form cliques and basically disrupt the shit out of everything.

So yeah, it sucks to deal with those people. But since my one superpower seems to be to irritate the living shit out of them by speaking truth, I don’t have plans to quit anytime soon. We have to stay aware of this kind of stuff in order to stop it.
