I hope Marissa is heavily involved in the creative process and the book is heavily referenced.

The Marvels, which she was the director of, has exactly the same feel.

And honestly? Might be weird to say? I think the fact she directed Scoob! Is also just right as a credential to handle TLC.

Friends going on an adventure, young and extremely close friends so they are going to interact exactly as that age group would in the extraordinary circumstances they find themselves in.

I think both those movies at least are greatly to her credit. I can't wait to see what she does with this.

GUYS. I JUST HEARD THE NEWS. this Tumblr was kind of dead tbh cause like...I read and loved the books so much...and then kind of...moved on? You know? Still love them and still own them and still follow Marissa Meyer but my fire for them kind of went into bright embers instead of roaring flames.

But a movie!? F I N A L L Y?? Like after all these remakes Hollywood has been making and the general book reading public like...screaming....ARE YOU SERIOUSLY ACTUALLY OUT OF IDEAS??? VISIT A BOOKSTORE.

This is Taylor Swift’s statement about it. And this is gross behavior. 

t doesn’t matter if you like the music. It doesn’tmatter if you like her personality. Personal taste doesn’t matter. What matters is that she’s a person who should have the right to her own music. 

I understand this is not a blog for celebrity news. I understand this is just a book blog. And I’m sorry if by posting about this it runs any of you off. But this is an important issue. 

Taylor Swift may be a multimillionaire celebrity, but she is still a person. She is still just an artist. And the fact that hundreds, thousands, of people enjoy her music doesn’t make her any less of a person or any less of an artist. 

Her music was stolen from her. The rights to her songs were given to someone named Scooter Braun, a man who has made a passion out of trying to dismantle Swift’s career and success. 

Taylor Swift is now being told that she is not allowed to sing her music in the upcoming AMA awards or to have it playing in an upcoming documentary about her...unless she agrees to never rerecord it. To let go of her music. To shut up about Scooter Braun. 

I’m not normally one to follow celebrity news - but this is more than celebrity news. This is news about an artist being denied their own art. 

Whether you’re a Swiftie or not, whether you’re a fan or not, consider this: She is an artist and her art has been stolen from her. It is her music, it belongs to her. 

The story that the other side is telling is that Taylor Swift willingly signed away the rights to her own songs. But if that were true she wouldn’t want to play them, now.
