6 | Putting A Name To A Face
Let's Be Mafiosos! (MAFIA! TWST X READER)
"And what brings you to my castle, Mr. Clover.."
His voice was as soft as velvet as he spoke, sat upon a throne. He sat back, legs crossed with a charming smile and those pearly white teeth. "Finally decided to leave Riddle? Taking up my words, I see.." He purred, the focused light glistening his blonde hair and sparkling his royal purple eyes.
And further down, right below the steps stood the ever-nervous Trey. Even though he was used to Vil, he practically shook like a leaf sometimes! He wasn't sure why, maybe his presence? I mean, c'mon now- Vil was gorgeous! It's hard to talk up sometimes..
"Well, no, I havent.." He said, letting out a small chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm actually here to ask you something, if you can spare the dime.."
Vil hummed and kept his posture as he sat. "Rook tells me you have a bit of a problem at your hands..?"
Said Number 1 simply beamed and stood straighter with his hands at his sides!
"Yes.." Trey said, stepping up a bit more at the steps. "I need help finding someone. I believe she might be useful for expansion, maybe for Heartslabyul to get a better grasp on different areas and points within the Queendom."
Vil hummed and nodded his head as he listened, soon smiling and crossing his legs "Well, I'm feeling generous today, and I do happen to have a soft spot for you. So long as you take an offer of mine for a day, I may let you use what Pomefiore can provide."
..you're fuckin' with me, right?
Trey stood there for a moment. Damn! He chose for Rook's offer simply BECAUSE he wanted to avoid Azul! Who the hell wants to ask for help from someone who'd be quick to exploit it! Azul's the kind of person who you'd ask for aid to from getting stabbed and he'd whip out a bilateral contract and an NDA. I'm not sure about you, my friend, but I'd rather bleed out. But poor Trey! He didn't realize he'd have to do offers for Vil too! God, he can't win! "...Uh, sure. What can I do for you?"
On one side, this may be something mild. It's only for a day, it shouldn't be something too far. This is Vil were talking about, that man wouldn't dare go to matters as far as a certain 'cephelo-punk' would go. On the other side, perhaps Vil might want something beyond Trey's thoughts. Maybe Trey wasn't thinking far enough. Could it involve Riddle? Oh, Seven! The last thing he wanted was to piss off that one..
The Pikachu surprise face would have competition against Trey's.
He stood there for a moment and smiled, a sweat slowly rolling down his temple. Now, don't get Trey wrong, he was a great cook! But you know, he likes to be Mr. Humble and what not. He gave a clearing of his throat and lift his head a bit higher. "There's far greater cooks within Night Raven. Why not ask Jamil-"
"Oh, but not many who could make something as exceptional as you." Vil added, smiling as he stood and went along the steps with grace as his cloth gave a slow trail behind him, aided with the taps of his carefully sharpen heels at each ledge. How he didn't trip and fall is beyond me.
He said, a smirk at those red lips. "...Is that a yes?"
Trey stood there for a moment, soon raising a hand. He got along well with anyone he met, but didn't this feel too fast? Unless..
The greenette released a small breath of air as he smiled, soon crossing his arms as he laughed even. He gets it now! "You've been waiting to seal that for a while, haven't you?" Vil simply lift his head with his smirk, walking further down the steps while Rook patiently followed. "I have not a clue of what you're referring to."
As he stepped down, Trey simply carried a smile as he watched Vil go further down, and soon Rook as he rushed with the biggest smile. "C'est parfait! Just as planned, come, come! We needn't waste any time!" He was practically skipping down to join Vil!
Trey deadpanned as he trailed down behind them. He didn't mind Vil nor Rook, but they were rather energetic today.
Or maybe that's just Rook
"This is Pomefiore's Intel Database, or P.I.D, as Rook likes to call it."
Trey couldn't help but stare in wonder at the amount of action happening before him. Although it seemed simple, it was just the sheer number of people bustling about inside, and at such an organized, timely manner. True, you could say this is the same for Heartslabyul or even...Diasomnia.
Could it be the members working about? The organization yet the perfection they all gave. Not an eyebrow unplucked and not a fingernail not done. Their fingers typing away as they sat in rows and collaborated smoothly while the few large screens sat above them, some of the members standing under them and discussing what need be.
Vil glanced to Trey and smirked "Your chin, Clover. You best watch over it.." He said, walking down to the few at the bottom while Trey stood straighter and went after him with a small laugh. "Sorry about that.."
"No problem at all. It's expected that Pomefiore would take anyone's breath away with the imposing beauty my fraction holds.." Vil stated with pride in his voice, a bold smile at his lips as stopped before one of the few nearby. Sensing the presence, the two that conversed quickly turned around and gave a bow at the sight of Vil.
"You can raise your heads. Our visitor here requires our assets to help him in finding a fresh new face. I'm sure we can do it with no problem, can we not?"
They both quickly raised themselves and nodded their heads at the command.
"Absolutely, Your Raidiance.."
As they rushed off, Trey couldn't help but raise a brow at Vil. "Did you get them to say that?" Vil simply smirked and lift a finger, his chin resting at the back of his hand as his head tilted down just the slightest. "Now," He began, placing a hand at the hip. "Is there a crime to be reminded of your status?"
Trey watched him walk around and exhaled as he stared at his back. "...I suppose so.." He trailed off, watching him walk off before he glanced to the two patiently waiting for his call. "Oh! Ah- I'm sorry.." He quickly said, rubbing the back of his neck and coming over to them with a smile. "You see, I'm looking for a girl..Uh, her name's..."
He trailed off, trying to recall. Fuck. Now he can't do it?!
The one to the right lift a brow and shook their head, waiting for his response. Rather impatient though..
"Uhm- Oh!" He paused and snapped a finger. "(Y/n)! (Y/n), yeah, that's her name. I never got her last name..At least," He paused "I don't think I did.."
"Look," The other began, crossing his arms. "We're here for work, not to find your lost hookup. This is for important jo-"
"Ah, non non non..We can't have that, such rudeness to a guest isn't tolerated in Pomefiore."
Hearing the voice, the two froze at the gaze heightened at their backs. Silent yet deadly, a smile at his face that didn't reach his eyes. The brunette at the sighed took a deep breath and straightened his back "...a..alright. (Y/n), you said?"
Trey stood in surprise at the sudden switch up, soon nodding his head. "Yes..Yeah, that's her name.."
The two guided him around to the keyboard nearby, meanwhile Trey couldn't help but glance to Rook who stood off to the side with Vil..Who actually held a disappointed frown at his face.
It was smart to not underestimate them
(Y/n) shifted about in her apartment, gently brushing Nugget as the puppy fidgeting about in her lap with a soft whine in defiance. "Ah...Wa-Nugget.."
She exhaled, a bit frustrated. She knew he was a puppy, he was bound to mess around and not want to listen. But good heaven to the seven was this a struggle. The puppy soon rushed out of her lap at his bit of freedom as her phone began to vibrate next to her. Golden retrievers were fluffy! You needed to keep up with that hair, or else..
Dog fur was terribly hard to remove out of black clothing after all.
"Fine. You win this round..." She said to him, yet he was already knawing at his toy hedgehog, named Timmy (respectively). (Y/n) let out a sigh and waved him off before looking into her phone for a second, swiping and typing her password before checking who was calling.
She huffed and smiled just a bit. Yeah, she wasn't happy with their choices, but she still did miss her friends. Hard to get rid of them. Like roaches..
She swiped the green button and sat the phone down at her thigh, plucking the fur from the comb and into the trash. "Yellow?"
She furrowed her brows at his surprise, shaking her head a bit. "Yeah. Why wouldn't I?"
"Well...After the argument or whatever I jus' thought..."
"Oh. Right." She blanked, freezing in her movements. She couldn't exactly forget the reason they all got into it in the first place. "Well..." She trailed off "I'm just glad to hear you.."
(Y/n) could practically hear the smile growing on his face just from that statement she gave alone. She could see it even..
"So, what did you need to call me for?" She asked, standing up with the bag and heading to the door to toss it out.
"Oh, ah...I just wanted to see how you were doing, that's all. Haven't heard from you and..I..I got worried.."
She smiled even more, knowing that it wasn't intentional. "You thought of me?" She said, soon having paused at the door as she pulled it in and it sat open. Deuce let out a small laugh himself, having began to turn a bit red.
"Well, yeah...I missed you."
Sensing the tension, she steadied herself on the door, hand at the knob as she stood. "...Deuce." She paused, her lips parted as she wondered what to say. How to respond.
"..I.." She paused, fluttering her eyes and lifting her chin before flinching at the feeling of fluff run past her leg. "HEY!"
Down little Nugget ran off, bundling away with curiosity and a happy grin while (Y/n) quickly shut the door and ran off after him. "Nugget!"
"(Y/n)? (Y/n)? Is everything ok?"
The girl raised her phone at her lips, rushing off still after the ball of energy. "I'll call you back, Deuce!"
Downcasted, his face slowly began to fall as his held the phone and stared back at the profile picture of the girl with the brightest smile at her face..
He sighed and dropped his arm.
"Wow. That was pathetic."
Hearing the voice, he quickly whipped his head up to the right as he noticed that familiar red head with a his usual non-sympathetic expression. "You snuck off to talk to her and it ends like that? Ouch."
Deuce grit his teeth, shoving his phone at his pocket. "Shut up. It's none of your business." He said back, turning his head away for a moment to hide his glowing cheeks. Yet Ace simply walked over, passing him with a scoff. "Oh, so now I'm being excluded out of my friend group?"
Deuce furrowed his brows as he watched Ace's back, giving a glare as he did so. He wasn't sure what the hell his problem was. He was always like this whenever (Y/n) was mentioned. It was getting annoying..
He looked down, mind clouded in thought as he walked in the opposite direction of Ace, joining the many within the winding halls of the Heartslabyul building.
As he did so, a tall greenette had walked pass his form. He was rather focused on the paper at his hands, flipping the pages about in the folder as he observed them. He hadn't asked for much, but he got more than enough! So he just powered it down to just the rest of her name.
Trey whispered, focused on the name before him and then the picture above. There were a few, grabbed from socials. Yeah, that was her. Same smile, same eyes, same nose.
Now he's gotta find her brother.
"...damnit.." He softly cursed, swiftly turning his heel to head back to the entrance. Yes, he asked for little information yet dismissed the parts he actually needed!
She yelled out, rushing further down the stairwell after the puppy as he ran. She panted, trying to catch up to him before he'd meet at the ground floor!
The puppy yiped as he hopped down the last step and ran off, many of the flowers along the buildings shielding themselves and their centers with their petals due to the presence of the pup, mainly due to not wanting to be pissed on. Understandable.
She panted and rushed off, going after him as he went down. Damn thing was fast to have such little legs! Should be impossible..
With a swift turn along an alleyway, Nugget rushed forward with his tongue free only to soft whine as he ran into something stiff. He shifted and stood on his little legs, as he looked down to the object he had stumbled upon.
She called out, coming around the corner he ran down as she panted heavily, still holding the bag in her hands and soon leaning on her knees. Damn..
"That took everything outta me.." She said, soon looking up through blurry eyes to the little ball of fluff. Only to find him in the hands of another. And a rather familiar face at that..
The heavy steps of feet came about as a man cautiously checked behind his back. Nightfall may have bestowed upon Sunset Savanna but that didn't mean life had gone dormant as well.
He brushed his shaggy brown hair, sweating about as he came to the entrance of Ivory Springs and his large, round mice like ears perked about. The man standing there at the booth gave a smile, happy to please a new customer at his steps at such a night. "Yes, Sir. What can I do for you?" He asked, only for the other to lean in and clear his throat..
The man before him lowered his smile, watching him for a moment longer before clearing his throat and stepping aside to let him pass through the springs. Along the ways he went, checking every corner and moving shadow he'd pass, neverminding the patrons still resting about withing the springs for the time being to combat the cool, crisp air.
He hurried further down and tucked his long tail, peeking up at the bus that sat nestled between the few trees. After a climb in, he sat silent during the ride. He was only a little nervous..He was requested to come here after all..
His eyes glided up, noticing the change in the spreading desert around them and few trees only to now have low lights and thudding music blossoming about around him along the street path. Buildings sat about, pictures painting the walls and windows along with the night life that came if such a city. A small hidden gem that supposedly came out of nowhere, nestled far from Sunrise City was a kingdom of its own.
Anything that the heart desired, it was warranted for here. Where most say only the lowest of the low reside and others say where the good times float by. The neon lights that glittered the signs, the sensual sway of a hip that drew man's eye, the taste of liquor and delight swinging at the tongue. Where one could indulge selfishly in what Sunset Savanna had to offer.
Where a true King had all that he wanted
The man scratched his neck, his fingers gliding along his bobbing adam's apple as his eyes darted about once they came to the station. If he was called for a meeting, surely it had to be quick, right?
He was being jumpy, nothing would happen to him..
He shakily stepped down, rubbing at his arm as his sweet brown eyes drifted up to the building ahead of him. He stepped further ahead, walking into the club as the light gently fluttered to life above him with a warm glow, as if to remind him of where he was stepping inside.
He took a nervous breath and released it, soon walking in and looking about as he shuffled inside the club. He glanced around the area, catching sight of many lioness beastman lounging about, catering food or even giving entertainment at the stage with the poles glistened in the middle.
A woman said, standing there whilst holding her madol in he reads that was given. She looked up, watching as the other simply buckled his pants and stood. "Ah, well...It's all I had on me. Consider it enough."
The young woman parted her lips to speak before narrowing her eyes and stepping forward to him. It wasn't uncommon for foreigners to come by into the area. Although this was a hotspot within the sin city, people needed to be reminded of their rules constantly.
"I said it wasn't enough."
She stated firmly, suddenly gripping his arm as he froze. "Hey, what're yo-" He winced, reaching down to her wrist and tugging. "The hell is wrong with you!?"
He stood there for a moment, looking into her eyes before shaking his head as those eyes of her's watched him carefully. "T..T-That's all I have, I-"
"I will not be repeating myself."
He took a shaky breath and reached down, quickly tugging at his pockets "H-Here, take it! It's a-all I have-!"
He yelped put like a cowered pup, emptying his pockets as the coins and crumbled dollars fell before their feet. She watched him for a moment..
All until she yanked her hand away with her careful glare, soon pushing him away and out of the room. He stumbled and panted, his eyes wide as he caught himself against the wall. He exhaled and walled on, passing by our main protagonist here, mouse beastman. Who couldn't help but stare in horror at the sight. Idiot could've been killed, he's lucky she let him out loose! These women didn't play, regardless of their position.
He huffed about and pat himself down as he walked down to the next steps, a spiral staircase that should lead to the third floor. That's where he is, where he had been called to meet...Him
He slowly came to the entrance, looking about the quiet area before freezing at seeing the hunched over form further ahead of him. He gulped...
The figure ahead simply stayed there, moving the slightest as the sounds of soft grunts came as he gnawed at something. It could be anything! It made his stomach churn..
"...y..you wanted to see me?"
Hearing the tone, the figure stopped their movement and quickly looked back, only for those large stone blue eyes. "Mm?" He hummed, having been busy devoring a..Pack..of doughnuts?
"Oh!- Uh-" He shuffled, his large ears flicked as he moved and swallowed whilst wiping his hands. "That's right, I did call for ya! Didn't I!" He beamed, although that slightly sharp smirk glistened with mischief under the low light. "Goth, right?" He said, lifting a hand for hum with the other beastman nervously lift his own. "..Uhm..Roth. Sir.."
"Heyyy, no need to stay so uptight. I'm not the Boss, y'know."
He said back, simply shaking his hand before sitting back down. "Go on, sit in front! Don't worry, this'll be quick!" The other nervously looked about and sat, clearing his throat with his hands at his lap.
"..well...Uhm.." Roth began, soon rubbing at his arm. "What..Was it that you called me up for?"
Said hyena beastman simply sat back with a pleased smile, surrounded by his 12 dozen pack of sweets and some napkins to aid him along with a good drink, even some meat cooked well to his right. "Wellll~" He purred, a coy smile at his face while a fang slightly peeked free. "I've heard around that a little someone has been givin' you trouble in the city."
"She-hehe-he!! I'm joking, I'm joking!" He sang, waving a hand in dismissal as he sat up and leaned in. "Actually...I heard the opposite."
He smirked, lowering those eyes. "Whatever you been doin' down there, little mouse?"
Roth sat there as sweat began to form under his brow. He cleared his throat and glanced down as his heart began to race, and his ears flicked back just a bit. He knew he was being obvious. "...I-I haven't done anything wrong.."
"Y'know.." He began, soon yawning a bit as he stretched. "People always throw away certain parts of veggies and stuff," He said, dropping his arms after and adding a shrug. "But you can eat those bits if you prepare 'em right. It's important to know that stuff for survival." The man finished, waving a finger. Although he was smaller than Roth, the power this man held was heavier. "Now.."
The other said, keeping his eyes with Roth's as he tapped at the table. "..You don't want to end up like the scraps, do ya? Tossed out without a care, hoping someone finds you only to still be seen as trash after?"
Roth chewed his cheek, keeping his eyes down before raising them just the slightest to meet the other's eyes. ".....no."
That smile soon crawled back to those lips as the shorter of the two sat back. "Good. It's smart, usin' your 'shy, innocent' shtick to get what you want. But when it reaches my ears, just be lucky it wasn't Leona. Besides, pickin' on the little guy when he's already down isn't our style."
He yawned, tilting his head a bit "...But, hey, a warning's a warning" He smiled and sat back with his arms folded behind his head, giving a shrug. "You're free."
Roth looked around "..Y..You're sure, Sir?"
He asked, only for the other to nod and waved him off. "Yeah!" He beamed "Go on! Just remember what I said~"
Roth huffed and slowly stood. Wow..
This went smoother than he thought. He gathered his keys and stood, patting his pants and turning. "..uhm.." He nervously bowed and quickly shuffled on. He wasn't sure how to react. What does one do in that moment?
Perhaps a bow was a little too forward? Well, he was just showing respect to a superior. Th-
There his body lay as his motor works slowed. His hands, his tail, his legs all having become still.
"Ahh...Such a shame. I kinda liked you, Hoth."
The shorter male shuffled from his booth and waved down, holding the gun at his gloved hand as he stood above the body. A small exhale left his form, letting his feelings leave with it as the exhausted expression came clear..
"Survival of the fittest..."
The slow, almost thundering steps another stepped around the corner to join him at the body. His dark hair highlighted by the warm dim lighting, messy like a mane as it went along his back. "Careful you don't get eaten. That's the moto."
His deep voice said, rich in tone as he stood and stared down at the mouse beastman at the ground. He didn't even shake his head, this guy wasn't even worth that much energy. "..He was coming up short anyway. The last thing I need is some lazy herbivore.."
He scoffed "...Waste of my time. Ay, Ruggie.."
The hyena looked over, watching as the other simply brushed by and head off with a wave from the hand. "Stop watching the guy, it's not like he's gonna move. Get one of the others to tug him out and clean up.."
The other only let out a small huff as he stood, even puffing his cheeks. "All you ever do is nap.." He grumbled. Hell, it was true! If it was a spot, he'd win first place in seconds.
"Alright, you heard the man!" Ruggie announced, clapping his hands as he stepped around Roth, making sure to not get the blood onto his shoes. After all, he couldn't let such good things go to waste. "Get this all cleared up. I'll be in the kitchen for a sec'!" He yelled out, walking out to the staircase while three individuals came around to aid to the body.
Life truly isn't fair. Some of us were born with the finest of things, having not to worry about what meal could come next or where to reach clean water. While others struggled to get so much as an ounce of proper shade or even better treatment. No one was picked to be perfect.
And in his eyes, it would stay that way. No matter what song plays nor who dances to it.
As he walked along the path, many parted down the ways to give him space while he sauntered to the back exit. The people he let on, no matter where they were or what they were, they were capable. They had to be, you never knew when a moment might strike using you. Diligence came first, brute strength came second. In order to get your way, one must play his cards right.
Let it be someone at his side or one of the women within the buildings he owned, they must know to handle themselves. If not..?
It'll simply be on them. Not hungry enough, not selfish enough. They simply weren't prepared for the world he was cultivating.
He hated being surrounded by idiots.
Mind you, Rook actually won the spin-the-wheel I did with him and Jade! I was just curious as to who the readers would pick! (Quotev was rather vocal on Rookie-)
