break these walls down.

“positive.” luka said with a nod. he was sure he wouldn’t mind spending the night with grace. she was good company and she made him feel good about himself and just in general. it was nice to have so much positivity around him when he was with her. when her cool fingers stroked his cheek he found himself almost leaning into the touch. “yes, i-i’ve been having a good summer so far so…” he paused. “yes…i - yeah i know i planned on telling him…a man was very rough w-with me and didn’t respect my wishes for him to - to stop.” luka explained softly. “but it’s…okay i’m alright now.” or at least he thought so. “a trip? where to?”

Jae had decided to take a run along the beach. He had a towel around his neck and his shirt was off. The master had earbuds in and he was listening to music and wasn’t looking where he was going when he bumped into someone. “Oh shoot.” He took out his earbuds before offering a hand to help the other up. “Sorry about that are you okay?” 

               Niclas brushed off his little comment about “getting creative” with a discreet eye roll. He didn’t like to admit it, but Luka was his soft spot, the only person that could get this close to insulting him and walk away from it unscathed.  “You do realize I’m not your guard dog, right?” And even if he had been, no amount of “creativity” was ever going to change the fact that he was a guard and Luka was one of the slaves he was expected to keep in line. But it was best not to dwell on those things, especially when they soured his mood. 

               Instead, he guided Luka into the booth and onto his lap, an all-too-pleased smile on his face as he did so. “Is that supposed to be your way of saying you missed me, little one?” His expression tightened at the mention of the human’s father. After everything the boy had gone through with his dad, the last thing Nic had wanted was for Luka to feel trapped in the life they had together, but he was, despite all reasoning the human was the Niclas’ caged little bird. The vampire’s overprotective nature had gotten the best of him. “Wish you would’ve picked anywhere else,” he confessed. “But, you know, I respect your wishes. You’re my smart boy, you know how to keep your nose clean. Just… keep it that way, alright? Because if you get hurt, I’m gonna hurt someone. And then I’m probably gonna get hurt

               With the reassurance that Niclas had not come to the island to stir any trouble accepted, they settled into a comfortable silence the seconds following Niclas’ words, simply reveling in their closeness. The vampire smiled and playfully bared his fangs, brushing them gently across the soft porcelain skin of Luka’s neck. “All of it was so I could do some no good things to my beautiful boy again. Does that sound like something he would be interested in?”

there were days he felt overwhelmed by niclas as a whole, but even then he was still appreciative of him. if it weren’t for nic he didn’t know where he’d be in his life, if he’d still be stuck with his father and working as a barista and not as a blood bag at his club. with the vampire being with him now it meant maybe he could be more comfortable and not having to look over his shoulder every few seconds and watching out for the crazies. he had his own personal guard. maybe there were more pros than cons. “you’re not?” luka asked in a sort of teasing tone. “could’ve fooled me.” he tells him softly, lips quirking up slightly as he looked the others beautiful face over. 

“i mean...how could i not miss you? at least a l-little bit, nic? i loved you.” loved. past tense. who was he fooling? he still was in love with this man and being with him now reminded him of the connection they had. now the human was straddling the other. the two of them close and breathing in one another’s scent, luka’s hands shamelessly feeling the others muscled torso and pecs through his shirt and leaning closer. there was a playful glint in his eyes, and clearly he was in a work mindset. niclas was still a customer right now who requested him. “i’ve been good. for the most part. i’m keepin’ out of trouble.” he says softly, a little grin pulling at his lips when he notices the fangs. “don’t say that. you’re not - you’re not going to get hurt.” a frown creased his brow until he feels the sharp teeth grazing over his neck. 

baring more of his neck in presentation to the vampire, his left hand reaching up to cup the others cheek as he pulled away slightly to stare into the others eyes. “i’m still your only boy, right?” he wondered if niclas had indulged himself on others while they weren’t together. or if he’d been replaced and this was just some big game to the vampire. it was wrong - but he’d be insanely jealous if nic had gotten another baby boy. “i have to confess,” luka breathed out. “i - i have missed you...so much that i had a djinn help me see you. smell you, feel you.” his thumb stroked over his stubble on his cheek, leaning forward to capture the others lips in a rough kiss. 

“i’m interested.” he says excitedly against his lips.

               “You’ve got me all wrong, sweetheart. I’m not afraid of anything.”

Of course she was suspicious! James had tormented her by sending her here as a lowly slave! How could she not suspect his sudden change in mood? Truly, though she thoroughly enjoyed being spoiled at every turn she could not help but wonder why his treatment changed. Amabella paid no heed to the true slave in the room. She was quite used to many not understanding all the languages she spoke. Surely this was a poor mark of modern intelligence for many to only know one language? In her time, it was a mark of intelligence to know more than one! She could easily switch to another language, but oh how she adored the sound of her native tongue! “Tel un bon garçon. Je pense que je vais vous manger vers le haut.” Amabella purred and ran her fingers over Luka’s jawline. How adorable and well behaved her gift was! “Oui, it does, mon poussin. Many things change the taste of your blood. Your emotions and the food you ingest change the compound of your blood.” She was so delighted to have such a submissive treat. “Lamb and a wonderful red would do lovely, mon renard.” She addressed James now with a dazzling smile of her own. How those would make his blood so deliciously savory!

James led Lukas to the glass staircase that would then lead him up to the grand kitchen space. “Have you ever tried lamb before? If not, well there need be no worries, my chef, Maria makes an excellent lamb.” He assured the boy with a smile as he told the chef in spanish Amabella’s requested meal. “Amabella has such good taste when it comes to what food a human should eat in order for their blood to taste good. Because of course, I will be feeding from you as well.”

“lamb?” luka rose his brows some and shook his head at james’ question. “no - i don’t...i don’t think i’ve ever had lamb.” he almost felt lambs were too cute to eat but what did he know. he wasn’t worried about trying it, but the concept of something so foreign made him a bit anxious but it quickly dissipated because of the earlier compulsion when he was told not to be nervous. “oh--oh okay, sir.” the human mumbled, offering a slight smile. he’d be fed from by two vampires? at once? or separately? the human swallowed thickly at the thought, suddenly feeling a little warm. the human slowly stepped up the stairs made of glass - almost worried they wouldn’t hold their weight as they ascended them. luka looked over at amabella and smiled, though said nothing more. a million and one thoughts were running through his head right now.

She smiled when he mentioned her hair, "Thanks, I was getting tired of the long hair, wanted to try something new for the summer.” she said running her fingers through the shorter locks. “Your’s is looking nice too as its growing out, probably nice and tug-gable now,” she said with a smirk and a chuckle. “Work is all I do. I’ve been hiding away in my room when I’m not at work, trying to change that now though, being alone is starting to wear me out mentally.”

“Ah, well if it makes you feel better I never had been to any school other than this one. I’m fairly old and my mom did some home schooling but I kind of taught myself too.” She nodded as she laced her fingers together hugging her knees in closer. “I’m an art major. I want to illustrate someday. Creative writing sounds fun, are you liking your classes here?” 

Spying her co-worker she chuckled passing the cup over to him. “Guess you’re on the super bitter side today. I can’t have mine unless it’s super sweet. If I can still taste the coffee it’s a no go.” Tucking a strand of her newly cut hair behind her ear she shook her head with a smile. “Not at all. We don’t ever really get to see each other outside of work so this is nice.”
