SILENCE   LINGERS   as   well   as   intensifies   as   nico   draws   his   focus   upon   a   crumbled   paper   that   was   discarded   onto   the   floor.   he   is   unable   to   avert   his   gaze   and   look   at   the   other   standing   adjacent;   thus,   he   pretends   the   trash   is   the   most   interesting   thing   in   the   room.   until   .   .   .   he   could   no   longer   do   so.   he   inhales   a   breath   before   his   stare   becomes   a   glare   when   looking   up.   “what   do   you   want   from   me?”

SLENDER   DIGITS   WRAP   about   a   flute   of   champagne   as   he   saunters   toward   the   familiar   figure   standing   afar.   jay   did   not   expect   to   find   the   other   in   attendance   to   tonight's   event;   however,   he   is   not   complaining.   rather,   he   is   beyond   content   with   finding   them   here   tonight.   the   smile   tugging   along   the   stretch   of   his   lips   indicate   this.   “now,   who   dragged   you   to   this   boring   shit   show   tonight?”   he   wonders,   joining   them   at   the   corner   table   toward   the   back   of   the   gala's   venue.   “and   whoever   it   is,   well,   it's   a   shame   you   are   their   plus   one   instead   of   mine.”

FIGURE   LEANS   CLOSER   as   the   palm   of   hands   press   against   the   surface   of   the   wooden   table.   dark   orbs   fixate   upon   the   canvas   presented   beforehand,   drawn   to   the   strokes   of   oil   paint   along   canvas.   emerson   holds   his   breath,   awaiting   for   the   other's   response.   “so   .   .   .   what   do   you   think?   is   it   okay?”   chest   tightens   as   he   begins   to   think   perhaps   his   painting   is   not   good.   “you   can   be   honest.”
