My name is Luffy and this is my introduction post! I'm a very audacious and clingly brown tabby and white cat and this blog is about me and cats in general!

I was rescued from the streets back in February, 2025 and I am now living my best life indoors, properly stimulated while also safe at the same time.

My new mom says I am just too photogenic and funny not to be shared with the world, in addition, she is also crazy about cats and from that desire to share everything about me and my daily life, as well as reviews and cat care posts, she finally decided to create this blog.

Special features: Broken tail (already completely healed when rescued); FIV positive; Neutered; Microchipedd; Slight deformity on back toes that make some of his nails overly visible sometimes.

Mom is a 33 years old cat lover who is always trying to improve her cat knowledge. An avid indoor movement supporter and defender above everything else. Loves to see cat content and share photos of her own pets and their hauls. Anime and TV show enjoyer. Has a special interest in zoology and cat nutrition, with her biggest fixations being lions, sharks and orcas. Her favourite animal is the Jaguar.

Guess who is back (and tired)? Us! Lots of things started happening one after another by the end of January, which led to our hiatus and I'm really sorry for leaving for so long, especially when we were starting to build such a nice following and mutuals.

Unfortunately life happens and I lost a member of my family (human), then, just a week later, Mazikeen (for those who don't remember her, she is one of my rabbits) was hospitalized and stayed there for a whole week, not reacting much to the fluids and meds, we really thought that was her end but she surprised us with a come back later.

While she was hospitalized, Loki, her rabbit companion who was also 10 years old at the time, started showing signs of being unwell as well, took him to the vet and the exams showed a full bowel, he still ate good and pooped, so he came home with some meds and an ultrasound to do in three days, unfortunately the motility meds weren't working as well as we thought and two days later I woke up to a rabbit that couldn't even move, took him straight away to the vet and they hospitalized him but told me his condition was very critical. He passed away at the vet during dawn. This loss has affected my mental health quite hard, considering I was still mourning and things builded up, I ended up shutting down for some time. I shouldn't have.

Meanwhile, Mazikeen became a special needs and gosh, let me tell you...it is VERY HARD to take care of a geriatric rabbit with chronic inflammatory bowel disease, teeth problems and very poor locomotion. She needs me to pretty much everything (even though she recently finally started eating by herself again), it's been months and somehow she is still here, still takes her motility meds and some cortisone but has been stable for weeks now, which is amazing, she truly is a warrior!

Then when I thought things were getting better...BOOM, life hits me like a truck again! And this time with our king Luffy... Back in April, I took Luffy to the vet for his vaccination but ended up not getting vaccinated because he was apparently a bit underweight...not gonna lie, that was a surprise to me, sure he was not as heavy as months ago, but he used to be a bit overweight back then so I thought that was him losing that weight after adapting his diet. But no, he was actually underweight.

Since he wasn't showing any other kind of symptoms at the time, he came back home with the instructions to increase his daily intake for a month and come back to see if he was just eating less than he should. In case of not gaining any weight or losing even more, he would need to make some tests and exams.

Unfortunately for us, Luffy didn't gain any weight and started showing some symptoms meanwhile, such as vomitting and loss of appetite, which he never had. Took him to the vet again and his kidneys showed some alterations and he was hospitalized to stabilize his levels and to make more exams. We found out his kidneys are not functioning properly due to the FIV, the urine tests didn't show any kind of bacteria. The ultrasound showed a small nodule in the spleen, who will need to be reevaluated next week to see if it grew or not, if it does in fact grow, he will need to go under surgery to take it out and that is terrifying to me. :')

So yeah, in short, Luffy lost a lot of physical condition and is on preventive care for his kidneys and we are trying to provide all the support necessary for it not to develop into CKD. The good part is: Luffy loved his new diet, including the meds (they smell and taste like meat, or so they say on the label LOL). heheheh His appetite is also getting back slowly.

Anyway, good to be back and I hope our followers and mutuals can forgive us for our hiatus. Thank you for your support! Here is a photo of him from our last vet visit as an apology. ♥

For some reason, I feel like it is a female in heat, because Luffy is going completely crazy, despiste being neutered. I hear her meowing next to my window at night, when the catio is closed.

I don't know what to do about this intruder, it is clearly stressing Luffy out, he is marking the same place over and over again and I fear that all of this stress will make his situation worse to the point of developing crystals and eventually a blockage.

The big dilema here is: If I keep the catio closed to avoid Luffy seeing this cat, he will also get very stressed, it is part of his routine and probably his favorite enrichment. If I keep it open like the usual, he will see the cat and will also get stressed. I don't think I can win this one, I probably just have to hope for his recovery.

OMG, that plushie is the cutest thing ever (after Luffy, of course, and I swear no cat is pointing a gun at my head as I speak *cough cough*), black solid is my favorite cat color and one of the reasons why I find them so beautiful and fascinating is how their eyes contrast with their dark fur, making their eyes pop out so much, like, look at that plushie eyes. Not gonna lie though, I'd steal it for me. hehe

By the way, this made me laugh, something I really needed today, so I am really grateful for that. ♥

He is doing better now that he started his meds and seems to be peeing normally again (aka stopped spraying everything). He will be taking meds to reduce anxiety for a whole month and an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory for 10 days. Hopefully he will have a safe and fast recovery.

I am so grateful for the vet I picked for my cats, she wasn't supposed to be working today but made an exception for Luffy. She is amazing and I can't express how grateful I am for everything she has done for my sweet Slash back then and now for Luffy, I owe her so much.

Anyway, Luffy did well at the vet this time, surely he was under gabapentin to help but still...he didn't even hiss this time, I am glad he is tolerating the vet better than before.

I am honestly terrified, I mean, does it look that bad? No, at least not yet...but you know, my other son also didn't look bad just to find out he had a very aggressive and rare gentic kidney cancer, probably some kind of a traumatic response, but I am extremely anxious, like, sickly anxious...I am just terrified to what we are gonna find out tomorrow.

If it is what the vet think it is...my dislike for people who allow their cats to roam outside will just grow a bit more. My cat should be able to go outside safely on his catio, inside my property, without having to get stressed over other cats that are allowed to roam free and invade our space and even use my backyard as a litter box.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just really anxious and worried about Luffy, hopefully he will be okay...I will update you all once I get home tomorrow.

Having pets means spending the money you have and not have and the rabbit's food was very low so that means it was time to order more!

Unfortunately for my savings, both Luffy and the rabbits are also low on litter as well so we have another order coming from a different pet shop. Today's haul is not very exciting but I love to share my babies hauls so...why not, right?!

Anyway, here is what I got this time! Let's start with the big ones...

Yeap, lots of hay and you better believe they will eat all of it before they stop being fresh. :'D

I bought: 8kg of Timothy hay, the main type of hay of their diet 2kg of mountain hay 2kg of meadow hay

Then I also needed some rabbit food because Mazikeen has been depending on it for some time now due to her chronic health condition and it is going pretty fast and since she needs to gain some weight right now, I went back to Burgess as she was losing weight on Oxbow (she didn't appreciate it as much, ate less pellets and more hay).

I bought:

1,5kg Burgess Excel Indoor bag (This used to be their usual diet for years) 3kg Burgess Excel with mint bag (Rotating so Mazikeen will be more motivated to eat) 1,4kg Orcys pellets

This Orcys brand is new around here and I found their composition interesting so I wanted to try.

Unfortunately it has the same kind of extrusion as Oxbow and I am not very positive anymore as my rabbits really tend to not like this kind of pellet very much. But we shall see.

Still had herbs, flowers and some snacks in stock so that was all I bought for the rabbits this time.

Now for Luffy I got:

Kit Cat Freezebites duck treats (Noticed this brand's freeze dried treats were cheaper than the ones I tend to use and decided to give it a try, freeze dried meat treats are never enough!)

1 Retorn complementary wet food tin with chicken and rabbit (This is for his coming birthday!)

1 Luger's Superfood wet food tin with turkey (This one is complete but unfortunately too expensive to feed daily, still wanted Luffy to try it hehe)

1 Island of Pets air dried baltic sprats treats

King Luffy had to do his usual check-up, of course. He doesn't understand why he is not allowed to eat the new rabbit food but he will let it pass this time and approve this haul.

We both still can't believe what we found at the supermarket today. This brand recently started exporting to my country but unfortunately only a certain chain has it and their stock is very limited, they aren't always available and the last time I was able to buy these pops was around three months ago, when the brand was introduced and was on sale. Wasn't a fan of their crunchy snacks composition but since the pops are just freeze dried snacks I ended up buying two packages back then. For some unknown reason King Luffy seemed to like this one more than any other brand of freeze dried treats I've ever tried but when I went back to get more, there were none. Now so many months later they are finally back! Unfortunately only with the salmon version (I'd rather the chicken one like the last time) but hey, as soon as I saw these again I knew I just had to buy a small stock of them.
