Lexie closed her eyes for a second, stopping on her tracks as her way was completely blocked by his towering figure. “Oh, yes, I totally know you don’t bite. You’re not like a werewolf or something.” Her eyes widened. “Not that I have anything against werewolves in general of course. Except for the deliberately mean ones, those are a bunch of- fluffers.” She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, but still ended up smiling. “All right. I can help. Do you have any idea what kind of tea you like?”

“Well no but like you looked like you were afraid I would do something crazy. Which I won’t by the way, I just want to talk --it’s a party you know people mingle.” He laughs at her insult. “Fluffers? Alright you have a definition for that? --I like black tea. What one do you like?”

“Sorry ‘bout that, mate. Saw a photo being taken, I got in it. No matter though – we all looked good, yeah?”

“Well yeah it was a photo of me. It looked good trust me.”

“There’s been another one,” the Head of Supernatural Occurrences says, and Fenrir lets out a long sigh, drawing a hand over his face, before loading the file data on his screen. His brow furrows as he takes in the photo. “Ain’t this that hotshot sports guy? Fuck, I saw ‘is face in the paper this mornin’ for some Nike ad shit.”

“Adidas,” his boss corrects him, as if it really matters. “That’s why we’re giving him to you, Greyback. He’s high profile and in the public eye – the last thing we need is this one getting out of hand. Do what you have to. Show him the ropes, get him initiated. If anything goes pear-shaped, it’s on you.”

“Fuckin’ great,” Fenrir drawls under his breath, and an hour later he’s stood outside an expensive-looking building complex and saying the exact same thing. He knows how out of place he looks as he passes through the doors and flashes a top-secret government-issued card in the face of the lobby security guard. The man squints at the I.D., sees what he wants to see (pest control, air conditioning maintenance, whatever it is his mind conjures up) and gives a resounding nod. Fenrir passes three people on his ascent through the storeys and each of them offer him a head-to-toe-to-head-again look that suggests his high street khaki parka coat and worn shoes combo isn’t quite up to standard. 

When he reaches Ludo Bagman’s door, he ignores the doorbell and drums a loud and demanding knock into the wood. “Mr. Bagman,” he calls out, in no mood for uppity sports stars who manage to get themselves bitten to be making him wait around all day. “Bagman, I’m a gov’ment officer ‘n’ I ‘ave a warrant ‘ere to enter your property without invitation. So you can let me in easy or I can kick my way through.”

Not being the kind of man with the highest level of logic, Ludo Bagman happened to wake himself up after a night of partying by a campfire with a rather large gash on his forearm. Of course he had been rip roaring drunk for the entirety of the night that he didn’t remember at all how anything could have gotten that close to him. It appeared as if he had been in the middle of a mild animal attack, without actually having the horrifying story to tell women while he looked at his bandaged arm. Returning from the emergence room he was granted with little to no advice other than ‘keep it covered, it’s not infected you should be fine’ --which frankly even he a complete moron would have been able to come to the conclusion of. He fell asleep instantly on the sofa after returning home to his comically large home (despite him being the only one living there). 

It would be a blatant lie to say Lexandra didn’t spot Ludo Bagman right at the beginning of the party. She had no idea what he was doing there, but since their last encounter had been quite embarrassing she wasn’t in the mood to experience what a second one would feel like. In fact, she had spent two entire weeks avoiding any training session or team meeting her father asked her to, so she wouldn’t have to see him. The mission had been successful so far, until they ran into each other apparently looking for the same flavour of tea at a corner table. 

“I didn’t know you knew Hestia.”, she stated, looking evidently embarrassed and handing him the teapot. “I hope you enjoy your tea.” Her words were pronounced at an abnormal speed before she was turning around, ready to make a run for it.

The second that he hears her slightly judgmental voice bouncing off of his ears he pulls a smile at his lips. Of course he hadn’t noticed her until this moment or he would have been approaching to harass her much earlier in the afternoon. He really did believe that they were on better terms how, despite him still not being one hundred percent able to recognize her in a large crowd. But hey at least he knew she was pretty now --so he looked forward to their encounters. “Well sure I do she invited me. Hey --wait I don’t bite I swear.” He quickly sprints so he’s not facing her as she tries to turn away. “Help me pick a tea?”

Her eyebrows shot up, and she offered a proud smile. “Hey! See? That was a better compliment. Still a little bit rude, but you fixed it in the end. You’re already getting better as we speak.” Lexandra nodded. “Then all I have to do is learn how to use a beater’s bat? I can’t ask my dad to teach me though, he would probably freak out. Wait- you could teach me! According to him you’re one of the best! Maybe just the bat though, I don’t want the arms. I would look hideous with all that muscle.”

“I told you I don’t suck at this! And you thought you were going to be insulting all of my compliments forever. Guess I showed you.” He’s slightly over exaggerating, letting his words sound like they’re dragging their feet to illustrate his point. “Yeah I can totally teach you! But yeah you probably wont sprout huge arms or something, it’s still a good work out though you know once you’re not freaking out over the bludger or anything. Come on --the arms would make you scary.”
