DREAM CHANNEL - PROLOGUE

PROLOGUE In the year 2025 social networks have expanded to control entire cities. The city of LUCYDIA was founded as a purpose built talent show city – a city that invited the most talented youth from across the globe to audition for access. Potential talent were invited to an special incubation facility in the hope of receiving an offer from one of the city’s government sanctioned TALENT TRIBES Once accepted into the city residents lived in performance apartments where their every move was watched and broadcast onto their tribe channel. Each tribe member received a ranking based on their ability to draw an audience – a promotion and relegation system ensured a constant pressure to perform In 2035 THE LUCYDIA CORPORATION discovered the lucid dreaming drug DICE. The drug allowed people to go back to any dream they had had in the past and continue the story. It allowed people to develop entire dream banks of stories and even share dreams with other DICE takers. They embarked on a new social networking initiative called THE DREAM CHANNEL. The drug was pushed into LUCYDIA’s Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and DISTRICT RED sectors . Their respective tribes were the first to begin experimenting with and distributing the drug to their residents,. They soon developed a new breed of entertainer – Lucid dreamers who could attract a global audience by luring them into a subconscious social network –THE DREAM CHANNEL. Their clients were took t the drug for access . Once inside they were able to live vicariously inside the fantasies of these new lucid dreaming stars. After the death of a DREAM CHANNEL star at the hands of a rival lucid dreamer inside one of her dreams - THE LUCYDIA CORPORATION discovered that death inside a dream lead to coma with control of their dream world moving to the killer. Competing social networks renounced THE DREAM CHANNEL referring to it as the "ecstasy of social networks" . THE LUCYDIA CORPORATION responded by expanding the experiment searching globally for lucid dreamers who could create exciting and new dream worlds where access could be sold to high paying corporate clients. – they looked for a dreamer who could create a game show inside his / her dream where other lucid dreamers could compete and where audiences could become involved in the outcome as players. A NEW REALITY WAS BORN
