FELIX —-

seeing  felix  isn’t  a  surprise.   he’s  been  expecting  a  sighting  sooner  or  later.   he’s  actually  kind  of  surprised  she  hasn’t  texted  him  about  his  move.   sure,   they  don’t  talk  that  much,   but  it  definitely  changes  shit.   he’s  gotta  text  her  about  maybe  having  paris  over  on  weekends  instead  of  holidays  or  something  like  that.   or  he  could  just  ask  paris  about  it,   actually;    she’s  old  enough  by  now  to  make  her  own  decisions,   at  least  when  it  comes  to  where  she’s  staying.

what  is  a  surprise  is  felix  not  even  registering  his  presence.   she  looks  completely  exhausted,   definitely  a  little  dead  inside  –  still  beautiful,   but  that  kind  of  goes  without  saying,   as  she’s  the  kind  of  person  who’s  never  spent  a  moment  looking  anywhere  near  average,   let  alone  below  it  –  and  that  could  account  for  her  ignoring  him,   definitely,  but  he  was  expecting  a  hello.   a  how  are  you,   maybe,   but  could  be  that’s  pushing  it.   he’s  going  the  same  way  she  was,   and  it’s  not  long  before  he  comes  across  her  again,   apparently  about  to  take  a  nap  on  a  gurney.   “ goodnight, ”   he  says  as  he  passes  her.

she hums in thanks  ,  relaxing into the stretcher.  another second passes before her eyes snap open.  recognizing the rasp of his voice  ,  the words escape before she even moves  —  ❛  wait.  ❜  taking a second to actually sit up  ,  felix stares down the retreating figure of her ex - husband.  honestly  ,  not a bad view.  ❛  come back.  ❜  this is good news because it means she doesn’t actually have to go to sleep.  but also  ,  not great news because why is he even in her hospital  ?  also  ,  why didn’t she know he was back in seattle  ?

while she does vaguely remember paris mentioning that he might visit sometime soon  ,  she also figured he would’ve texted her before he did.  even though all they really spoke nowadays were their daughter’s holiday travel plans  ,  they did semi - regularly text each other.  a little warning would’ve been nice.  felix fixes him with the same puzzled stare she offers their daughter when she shows her a new dance.  but  ,  she plans to tackle this situation with the same determination that she possesses whilst learning said dances.  ❛  what are you doing here  ?  ❜  

@undcne​  —-  seeing as felix has functioned on an average of ten hours of sleep per week ever since she was in high school  ,  she’s not entirely surprised when she sees her ex - husband walking down the hallway.  see  ,  this was a regular occurrence and often acted as a reminder that it was in her best interest to rest her eyes at some point soon.  after all  ,  will vega had no business wearing a white coat in seattle grace anymore.  

immediately  ,  she does a mental tally.  save for the power nap she’d managed to squeeze into her schedule a handful of hours previous  ,  the last time she’d slept was  ...  probably  ...  a day and a half ago.  that was it.  she was imagining things.  without blinking an eye  ,  the surgeon turns back over her shoulder to find a gurney to nap on. 

@lucktm​     —      victoria  set  down  the  salads,  one  significantly  more  ornate  that  her  own  in  front  of  felix,  then  took  her  seat  across  from  the  older  woman.  there  was  something  comforting  about  their  lunches  they  can  share.  it  happens  so  rarely,  tori  didn’t  like  to  miss  the  opportunity.  ❝  they  already  had  it  all  made  when  i  walked  up.  ❞  she  took  the  lid  off  her  own  salad,  pouring  the  dressing  over  the  leaves  and  mixing  it.  ❝  how  have  things  been  lately?  i  feel  like  it’s  been  forever  since  we  last  got  the  chance  to  talk.  ❞

             ❛  so …  ❜   lena  approached  the  nurses  station,  the  look  of  determination  in  her  gaze.   ❛  it’s  shift  changeover  in  thirty,  my  mother  is  visiting  thus  mila  is  occupied,  the  bar  is  having  a  quiz  night  and  for  the  pièce  de  rèsistance …  we’ll  be  just  in  time  for  happy  hour.  ❜   lips  tug  into  a  wry  little  grin,  she  certainly  wasn’t  going  to  take  no  for  an  answer   –––   sue  her,  she’s  had  the  day  from  hell  and  wanted  to  blow  off  some  steam.   ❛  oh,  come  on  !!  i’ll  even  buy  the  first  round …  ❜ 

stretching his arms thomas yawned loudly, pulling the attention from the whole lobby - as usual. he had one of those sly faces, pleased after assisting an open heart surgery. feeling unbeatable he handed the patient’s charts at the nurse station, not even bothering to look who grabbed the chart from his hands. “well, this is turning out to be an excellent day.” the five-year resident rose “i just need someone to take my very annoying puking patient for the rest of mu shift so i could take a nap. any voulnteers?”  @hqsgstarters​

“While everyone was at Joe’s blowing off steam, I was here monitoring vitals on a ten year old.” Sawyer didn’t know what was worse, her complaining about her job or the jealousy that promoted her statement. Dropping the pen in her hand, she shut the chart and rubbed her eyes. “I’m sorry. I’m tired and… out of line.” Replacing her weary look with a smile, she sighed. “This is a place of magic, not personal woes, after all. Anyway, do we have the updated tests?”

❛ at least you’re self aware , ❜ felix hums lightly ,  d e i g n i n g  to look up from her clipboard. on some level , felix does relate to the struggle. her entire career was shift after shift — squeezing in as many surgeries and patients as humanly possible in order to climb the ranks. ❛ just make sure to mind that temper , dr. chase. ❜ while it was FRUSTRATING and vaguely isolating to have refused the invitation to go out so often that people just stop inviting you , well ... it got her to where she was today. ❛ you’ll see it affect your work. ❜
