Oh, I ain’t perfect,
They had had a class together. Her brows eased from their tensed state as she realized where she had recognized him from, the man across the bar. The one who smiled at her, a charming half crooked smile as he raised his glass and raised his chin towards the drink that had been delivered to her from the bartender. She debated denying it, returning it, not playing along in this game but… he was cute. He was cute and Lucy loathed to let down a pretty face, so she smiled back coyly, taking the offered drink and raising it up in acknowledgement, a far off ‘cheers’ and drank it down in one go, never taking his eyes off him. She hadn’t expected that one drink to change her life as drastically as it did, but it had. Lucy went from drinking and dancing in clubs a few days a week with strangers as a means of escaping her own thoughts to actually putting effort in her classes, to hanging out with Gregory James Ward and meeting his friends. She went from the shallow acquaintances of party buddies to finding best friends of her own, friends she would wingman for, watch movies with, hang out with sober (something she hadn’t done much of since she was fifteen). But all thanks to that drink, Lucy didn’t so much as build a life for herself so much as find herself stumbling into one. Her demons didn’t disappear, but they quieted. She was on the up and up, finally having the family she always wanted. She felt less alone.
