Lucius is demisexual. There was a brief time in Hogwarts when he thought something was wrong with him since he can’t look at someone and state if they are attractive or not. He needs to know the person on an emotional level before he could so much as think about sex with them.
Lucius was fresh out of Hogwarts when he accepted the dark mark. Thankfully, he is able to keep his hands clean since he does more behind-the-scenes work. He can be blamed as one of the masterminds for the cause’s destruction. Plans of destruction commonly come from him with his being thorough enough to have at least two backup plans if things don’t go well on the first attempt. No more than two failed attempts or it turns into his chewing people out for not knowing how to properly execute the plans. He has yet to be dragged into following his own directions and is a little fearful that he may get thrown on the field if his plans fail.
Narcissa makes the majority of the Malfoy-related decisions. Lucius is uncertain about when he defaulted to running things by his wife, but he trusts her enough to have his and the family name’s best interests at heart. He seldom makes major decisions that may fall back on the two of them without getting her approval.
Tom Riddle was constantly in and out of Lucius’ life. He was a good friend of his father’s that occasionally brought little trinkets for Lucius and stories about the last place he traveled. tom showed little interest in Lucius besides that, with things changing once the teen entered his fifth year of school. His parents sided with Tom and that meant Lucius did as well. He only heard whispers at first, knowing there was no room to say no when it ultimately came down to being asked to join the ranks of whatever Tom had planned. The one request Lucius gave was to be allowed to finish his schooling. Tom seemed eager to take him under his wing and Lucius was all too happy to learn. He simply couldn’t let going down that path jeopardize things at school. The request came about softly over dinner with his parents. He wasn’t embarrassed to ask such a thing, simply anxious that his hesitancy would be mistaken as cowardice. Thankfully, it wasn’t and Lucius was able to delay the inevitable a little longer.

Location ✧ Quality Quidditch Supplies
Marlene stared longingly up at the new Nimbus broomstick mounted in the centre of Quality Quidditch Supplies and sighed audibly as she grazed her fingers along the handle. She had been a beater for the Gryffindor quidditch team and there was a moment when quidditch had almost been her entire life, but since leaving Hogwarts and subsequently joining a war, Marlene didn’t exactly have the time to play the sport she loved and she certainly couldn’t justify spending money on a broom this impressive when all it would end up doing is gathering dust. Sighing for a second time, she spoke to the person beside her. “It’s stunning, right? You thinking about getting one?”
Thank Salazar Draco was too little for anything besides a toddler sized broom or Lucius would have been considering going for something a bit more expensive for both of them. His spending on one for himself would come with the excuse of not having kept up on maintenance with his one from school. With Draco being too young, Narcissa was in luck to not have to hear that excuse for another couple of years. “Stunning yes, getting one - no,” He wrinkled his nose. “Too little time for it.”
where;; Ministry of Magic - Outside the Department of Mysteries

𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬; 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬. The witch had spent minutes glancing over the lines, reading words here and there and yet nothing but a sigh would escape her. There was frustration of course, the world shrouded in deliberate confusion, perhaps even desperation to know what would happen next. Life had changed, at the very least a little bit. Finally, Zixia lowered the Daily Prophet, tired of reading anything more dreadful. Clearly not even quidditch had made it onto the front page and that was just beyond sad. She could think of at least two individuals who may have something to say about that.
Barely a noise was heard when finally she stepped through the door separating the Department of Mysteries from the rest of the Ministry of Magic. It was in moments like this that she noted just how much of a line seemed drawn between the world behind that door and the world around them; invisible among the visible. A figure could be seen up ahead, the witch unable to hold back from feeling curious. “Can I help you?” Perhaps they were lost or simply curious. It would certainly not be the first time someone came down this far in hopes of catching a glimpse at the department. “If you need help finding your way, I’m more than happy to help.”
The exasperated sigh escaped before Lucius could get control of it, earning a sheepish expression since it was not directed at Zixia. She hadn’t done anything to earn his annoyance — at least, not yet anyway. The department of international magical co-operation was to blame for his frustration since he was handed a heavily sealed file and told to deliver it before he so much as finished his coffee.
“My apologies,” He sighed. “They have me playing owl today since the information apparently couldn’t be sent down without a wix attached to it.” The sheepish expression was soon replaced with a mask of disinterest. “File is supposed to be heading to the department head. The French have labeled it as urgent.”
It was late, much later than any sane person would be mulling about in the streets, but Barty didn’t have anywhere to be. He’d told his mother he’d be staying with a friend so he didn’t have anyone waiting for him. And, he happened to like the dark nighttime streets of Diagon Alley. He was paused with his back leaning against the wall of a shop, pulling on a cigarette, when something caught his eyes.
They flicked immediately over in the direction of whatever movement he’d caught. He could have sworn there was someone there. Alarm took the mask’s features and he called out nervously, “w-who’s there?”
It was later than anticipated and he would owe Narcissa an explanation. Lucius knew that well enough to not have an excuse. Rather, it was an excuse that would likely earn a laugh since he was proving to be a little more invested in the family business than he would have liked.
“What is it to you?” The phrase escaped accompanied by a sneer as Lucius narrowed his eyes. Getting defensive was the initial response to not expecting someone else to be there. He relaxed slightly upon realizing it was Barty. Not enough to fully put his defensive front down, merely opting for not immediately threatening the other man.

When Peter entered the Apothecary only to be met by the irritated mumblings of Lucius Malfoy, he couldn’t stop himself from releasing a snort. While he may be on the same side as a lot of them, it still brought him a certain level of joy to see Slytherins being even remotely inconvenienced. Apparently, the other Death Eater wasn’t supposed to be playing shop in place of his father, but there he was now committing himself to providing customer service. Peter was a little too entertained by the notion and, as he perused the shelves, he simply couldn’t stop the words from slipping from his lips.
“You sure you can handle being this deep in the field? Thought your specialty was paperwork, Malfoy?” It was almost an out of body experience for Peter as he replayed the snide remark over in his mind. What made him think he could just casually mock another Death Eater? In situations like these, it would be better for him to have the other Marauders with him, but no. Here he was, alone, about to be obliterated for his cheek. He forced a cough, hoping to change the subject. “Porcupine quills, infusion of wormwood and a shrivelfig. You got any?” He coughed again, trying to keep his composure. “Please?”
♔
There was no stopping the look of annoyance from resurfacing. Not when his words were met with a snort. His eyebrows rose up a marginal amount and he was left waiting with bated breath, expression daring the younger Death Eater to go on. If he weren’t exhausted, the look could have counted as murderous. At least, until Peter actually spoke up.
The chuckle escaped before he could stop it and if Peter looked closely, he may have been able to spot a hint of amusement along the edge of Lucius’ lips. He tried to maintain a stoic expression but it quickly faltered. “So did I,” He admitted with another chuckle, taking a moment to look Peter over. He was impressed the younger man had enough nerve to joke around him. Most of the newer recruits lacked that sort of confidence — or stupidity had it been a day he was in a bad mood. “We should,” He murmured then took a step back from the counter, gaze shifting over where the shrivelfig should have been. “Assuming my father has been on top of keeping the basic ingredients in stock. Hold on a moment?”
It was amusing to him how wrapped around Narcissa’s finger Lucius seemed. Though Rod couldn’t deny that he would have equally been wrapped around Andromeda’s if the two had made it down the isle. There was a part of him that envied his brother in law. Despite his vocal attitude towards duty and marriage being about more then love, he wished that he could have found love for his own. But the two were just woefully unsuited for each other. Each having needs the other could not fulfill. Letting some smoke escape him as he puffed away on is pipe, the man nodded. “I thought that it would be dreadfully dull, though I managed to enjoy some things.” He conveniently left out exactly what and who.
♔
He wasn’t that wrapped around Narcissa’s finger — at least in the sense of knowing which decisions required his input alone. It was merely a matter of respecting her thoughts and knowing she wasn’t the type to leave him alone to making choices that would directly affect the two of them. Lucius wrinkled his nose when Rodolphus exhaled. He shifted to prop Draco opposite the direction Rod exhaled but didn’t say anything on the matter, all too used to his father behaving similarly. “Only some?” Lucius quirked a brow. “Impressive. I would have much preferred remaining home over having come out. Perhaps that will change once he’s a little older.”
Concern etched her features as she waited for Lucius to speak, gently started to caress his shoulder with her thumb. She knew he was worried––she could tell without him even saying it out loud. Somehow, she managed to know her husband better than anyone despite how notoriously difficult she knew others felt Lucius was to get to know. Of course, she worried as well. Her pregnancy with Draco hadn’t exactly been pleasant. She had been sick for almost the entire duration, and he had been born early. But every pregnancy was different, wasn’t it? At least that’s what many people said.
She couldn’t help but feel amused as she watched him attempt to mask his worry. He forgot she could read him like an open book. His masked expressions never worked on her. It certainly was interesting to know he had been thinking about this. Especially since she knew he liked to portray himself as not particularly family-oriented; though she knew he was fooling himself when it came to that. He was more of a family man than he knew. She gave him a soft smile when he pecked her lips, humming softly and shaking her head. “You don’t need to worry, Lucius,” she whispered, speaking the words as she heard them in his mind. “I’m stronger than I look. I…” she paused and then took in a deep breath, “I wouldn’t mind another little one either. Maybe a girl this time. If we’re lucky.”
♔
“I know,” Lucius answered a little too quickly for his liking. He knew perfectly well she was stronger than she appeared - a fact he was made well aware of before they had even gotten around to discussing trying for Draco. “I worry though.” His voice hadn’t traveled above a whisper since he wasn’t one for openly admitting weaknesses.
“I dislike the risks,” A particularly bold statement since he was the one with the dark mark on his skin but that was something he could control to a point. Lucius knew what he was getting into in taking it and had taken a far too calculated approach in keeping himself out of trouble. “More specifically the risk of losing you,” He added with a shake of his head and tugged her closer to him. “Outweighs acknowledging I would not mind trying to add another little Malfoy into the mix. Hopefully one that doesn’t carry more of my tendencies than I know what to do with.” The last part was accompanied by a chuckle. Draco was all him and he adored him but it would mean they were in trouble if he proved to be just as clever as he was while growing up.
It was hard to imagine her sister married to Lucius Malfoy. She hoped that her sister was happy, that Lucius treated her well. But it wasn’t her place to say anything like that. She had given up the right to judge him or her sister the moment that she had walked away. It still hurt her that Narcissa thought that she had left her because she had wanted, but Andromeda had been put into an impossible situation. Sure, she could have married Rodolphus and everyone would have been happy with her. But would Andromeda have been happy? She didn’t think so. She had fallen in love with Ted when she was sixteen, and she had never stopped. Why had she thought that she could have tried to be the daughter that her family wanted her to be?
Lucius’s words snapped her back to the present, and she narrowed her own eyes at him. They had never had problems at school, but she was sure that he had plenty of problems with her now.
“Oh, of course my opinion doesn’t matter,” she rolled her eyes. “I’m not staring at you, Lucius, I’m looking for my husband and daughter. You just happened to be in my line of sight,” she lied.
♔
In truth, Lucius' problems with Andromeda were few. Rather, as few as the upbringing of being an only child and witnessing the chaos that ensued from the close-knit families could warrant. Extended family was something he was still getting used to since the Malfoys tended to have the heir on the first attempt. That and the one aunt he would have had passed away before he was born but the topic was one he tended to avoid since his father didn't like to talk about her. He could bite his tongue about Andromeda’s indiscretion but it didn’t change the fact that he occasionally witnessed the fallout from it.
"That look lasted longer than interrupting your line of vision should have,” He stated flatly then glanced down at Draco. His gaze lingered a moment before flicking back to Andromeda and scanning the immediate area around him. “Did you run into Cissa?” The question came out lower than anticipated but it was a necessity due to knowing he needed to tread carefully. “Particularly unfortunate that he got my looks over hers.”

The tryst - The relationship was short lived with minimal strings attached, having been abruptly brought to an end when the betrothal to Narcissa was announced. Open to this having been a semi-serious relationship or friends with benefits sort of ordeal. Just noting an emotional connection would have been a must if/when things took a sexual turn. (1/1)
The enemy - Someone Lucius absolutely loathes. The two do not get along and likely never will. Connection can be work related, death eater related, or stem from something petty dating back to their school days. Either way, Lucius wants nothing to do with them to the point of finding excuses to avoid them since being in the same space could lead to an argument. (0/1)
The confidant - This is someone Lucius would trust with his life. They are on the receiving end of his more secretive thoughts and are one of a select few that witness Lucius without the masks he tends to hide behind. (0/1)
The mentee - Lucius is to blame for this Death Eater having taken the mark. A project of his involving having been the one to show them the ropes and vouch for their usefulness. Although a decent mentor, Lucius made it clear there would be consequences if this follower proved to be a disappointment. (0/1)
Plots:
I know something you don’t - Lucius’ parents are biologically his aunt and uncle, having raised him as their own. While this won’t be earth shattering news, there is potential of shaking things up for him if someone were to share that information and go as far as questioning his proper parentage. Information about his actual father is something Abraxas intends to take to his grave but there is potential for blackmail with the family if letting slip that Lucius may not be of fully pure blood could be of use to someone.
Devil on my shoulder - It’s no secret that fatherhood has made Lucius grow soft. He has been slowly taking a step back from fully participating in the Death Eaters to focus on family. With this in mind, it could be interesting to see a character (or several) attempt to convince him to turn his back on the cause altogether and/or try to get him to join the Order. Give him a reason to question his stance on things and pushback against the way he was raised. Where the Death Eaters are all he ever knew while growing up, there is little reason for him to have questioned their ideologies or actions past believing they have the best intentions. With his father having been close to the Dark Lord before the war took a serious turn, he has little concern in doing the man’s biding. Just as long as his hands are kept clean.
Not good enough - A death eater has caught on to Lucius being more family oriented than initially anticipated. This could come at the price of bullying him into doing more for the Dark Lord and/or threatening the safety of his loved ones. Lucius’ biggest fear is disappointing his father and the Dark Lord badly enough to be met with fully facing consequences that have only ever been threatened.
Lucius & Open
Malfoy Apothecary - Knockturn Alley, Evening
The bell above the door chimed, earning an immediate glare at it from Lucius. “I distinctly told him to switch the sign to closed on his way out,” He groaned. There would have been more to the complaint of a greeting if it weren’t for having enough decorum to leave what would have been a whine about his father for Narcissa to hear instead of dooming a passerby. A moment was needed for Lucius to recollect himself, back straightening while he masked any hint of annoyance with a forced smile.
“Make it quick and do not breathe a word of my being willing to step behind the counter to Abraxas. You will give him false hope of my taking over the family business,” Lucius muttered. The store was barely stocked as it was since it had shifted to being a front for seedier operations but he knew better than to elude to that part of the business. “You are in luck since the wine has recently been restocked. Anything besides what is currently out will require a mail order or returning on Monday.”
Rod held up his hand in a soft defense, noting his decibel and lowering it. It was quite a sight to see, the Lestrsanges at a festival like this. However, there they were trying to be normal like Lucius and Narcissa. Giving a shrug he took the seat across from his brother-in-law. “Well”, he sighed. “Bella is going round and round on the hayride for some reason. Or that’s where I assume she still is, seeing as you’ve got Draco.”
♔
“You do not want to know the convincing that took,” Lucius chuckled and shook his head. “Barely get to hold the kid despite him being mine.” It was a little bit of an exaggeration but he had grown all too used to family wanting to hold onto Draco when outside the manor. Not that it was all that surprising given how cautious he and Cissa were before Draco was walking. “I skipped over that one. Most of the festivities involve things I would not have given a second glance at if it weren’t for Cissa.”

Noticing that it was simply Lucius Malfoy entering the bar, Ivy relaxed her stance. There were certainly worse people that could be approaching her. She and Lucius weren’t close by any definition of the word, but they both sported the same tattoo on their forearm, meaning he was good in her books.
“My favourite part of working here is the peace and quiet,” Ivy replied with a breathy sigh, head tilting back slightly. It was a welcomed change of pace from working at the hospital overnight. “And my favourite thing about Aberforth is that he’s also a fan of peace and quiet, and won’t let even a small pumpkin cross the threshold of his bar.” Ivy laughed, sliding off her stool and placing both hands down on the bar in front of her. “So, what can I get for you? Not sure if anything here will be up to your standard, but it’ll get you drunk if you drink enough.” Ivy didn’t know much about Malfoy, but she’d attended meetings at his manor in the past. If somebody was rich enough to call their house a manor, surely a cheap bottle of whiskey wasn’t part of their usual repertoire.
♔
“The Ministry could use a similar way of handling things,” He admitted with a forced chuckle. Not that he minded the place all that much but the noise levels could get overwhelming at times. He could put up with holiday decor but the Department of International Magical Co-operation could get far too loud at times. Bickering and trying to defuse situations in the handful of foreign languages he could speak. Just thinking about it was nearly enough to make him roll his eyes.
“I am almost afraid to ask for the finest glass of wine you can offer,” Lucius murmured. It was the one beverage he was most picky about but he would have to make do given the circumstances. “Don’t need enough to get drunk, but something to make dealing with the masses a little more tolerable would be appreciated.”
In another world maybe they’ve have worked out. Who knew? But in this world Alice was never going to have backed down from her view point, or done something her mother actually wanted her to do. So they’d never stood a chance. And she supposed it was never actually about Lucius. It wasn’t just him. Alice have never wanted to marry any pureblood elitist. Lucius just happened to be the one she’d ended up betrothed too.
“I have been.” She nodded, a smile on her lips as she decided to join the man. She supposed it couldn’t be that bad. And if her presence stopped him from snapping at others, then she would take that as a win. “How about yourself?” Since that was polite conversation, and she did actually care about what he had been doing.
She just raised an eyebrow at him, before rolling her eyes. “Do you really think that? I’m shocked.”
♔
“Busy,” He shrugged. “The Ministry has been requiring me in more often than not.” It was a rather annoying addition to his life since he preferred working from home. He hadn’t expected to turn into a homebody but time spent with Draco and Narcissa seemed more worthwhile than sitting through meetings that were ultimately meaningless.
“Draco’s been keeping me on my toes,” He added and shifted his grip around Draco, happily holding him closer. “He looks innocent sleeping but I’m almost certain his trying to run off on me and Cissa is what tired him out.”
The smallest of smiles crept over his lips when Alice rolled her eyes. “No, but I am trying to maintain some sort of pleasantry.”
