After a long day of being called to do various things and not actually doing them, Lissa was ready to wind down with some more unsupervised slacking off. Maribelle had given her some nice bath soaps from the market, maybe should would try one of those out tonight. The night was her egg and Lissa could cook it any way she wanted. Well, if she could cook.
As she opened the door, she untied her pigtails and shook her hair free from it's constraints and let it fall down to her shoulders. Humming, she spun around, closed the door, and slipped off her boots, setting them next to the frame. It was a good thing she didn't take anything else off, because when she looked up, Frederick was hunched over at her tea table.
It was honestly a shock, unexpectedly seeing a large man sitting at your table, but once Lissa realized it was Frederick, all was well. Though she was still a bit confused.
"Uh... Frederick? Are you okay?" Did she ask him to meet her here earlier in the day and forget? She paused, looking around to make sure this was her room. Yup, the stuffed bunny on the bed confirmed it. "Do you need something? I was just about to head to bed, so..."

Although it was early in the morning, the whole camp was bustling. While they had all slept, a strong wind snapped the strings and wooden poles holding one of the smaller storage tents up, and it had fallen over, scattering everything inside it every which way. Upon a survey of the damage, her brother had decided that the tent could not be rebuilt or repaired. This would not have been such a large problem had they a spare tent. Unfortunately, Lissa had been practicing some fire magic many months ago and burned down their last spare.
Lissa felt partially to blame because of this, although this was in no way her fault, so she was doing her part to relocate the scattered remains of the tomes, staves, and discarded papers into appropriate tents until they could find the time to construct another replacement. The girl had spent her groggy morning among natural early risers, carting everything she could into one of their supply tents.Ā
No one had asked her to do this, but it was a team effort and she could tell the team that was assigned to do this was thankful for her assistance. They still had many trips to make. Lissa spied somebody watching what was going on, and marched over to him, tossing the books she stacked in her hands into his arms.Ā
"Hey, you're one of Lucina's friends, right? Quit watching us do this heavy lifting and help out, will ya?" She pointed to a nearby tent. "I think those go in there."

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā With a determined nod, he held out the book further towards Lissa so that she could easier try to heal it. Ricken honestly doubted it would help, especially when the healer herself had said it probably wouldnāt work. However, it was his only option right now (aside from buying a sample of the exact same book of course, but seeing as it had been pretty old, it would probably be impossible to find. Alsoā he was broke).Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā As the staff began to glow, Ricken couldnāt help but hope it would work, praying to Naga or whatever other godly deity was out there that please, please work! The other mages are gonna kill me if they find out!
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā But the book in his arms remained the sameā still looking like a burnt piece of paper. However, suddenly, it felt as if something was changing. Nothing looked differerent, but Ricken swore he could feel something.Ā "Wait, I think itāsā!"
Ā Ā āā āAchoo!ā With a loud sneeze, clouds of dust and small soot-covered pieces from the tome Ā floated off of Ricken and the book. Seems the tingle in his nose had just been a sneeze, and not a sign of Lissaās healing at work. He sighed. "ā¦Never mind."
Lissa's face lit up as Ricken exclaimed it was working. She honestly wasn't expecting anything to come out of this, because she had lots of experience with trying to heal inanimate objects after accidentally breaking them. It never ever worked, no matter how many times she wished it would. "Wow, I wonder what I did differently that tim--"
As Ricken's sneeze lifted dust that slowly settled on Lissa's dress, she ceased the healing. "I'm sorry." She had given it her all that time, and if that wasn't going to do it, then nothing in her power would.
But Lissa was not one to give up after attempting to fix something once. "Is there anything else we could possibly do?" She asked, folding her arms, nearly hitting Ricken with the staff still in her hands. The Shepherds had a large pile of used up tomes in one of the tents. Lissa was intent on making sure Ricken's would not end up there.
ā ā» ā āWhy would I have to validate my emotions? All I want to know are yours. Is that so wrong?ā
āSurely Robin was just trying to confuse her at this point. Why was she so persistant? It wasnāt like anything was actually working to make him open up, since he never did that kind of thing with anyone. At this point he was just convinced that he should give her a random, meaningless answer so she would go away.ā
āIf you want to talk, give me something to talk about. So that my brain isnāt āemptyā.ā
It wasn't about the prize to Lissa anymore, it was about the game. She couldn't care less about the answer to whatever Robin was trying to hide. Honestly, she had forgotten what it was all about anyway. All she wanted to see was how far she could take this.
She moved almost uncomfortably close to Robin, innocently clasping her hands behind her back. "I'm sorry, your brain isn't empty. You're actually really smart. There's probably a thing or two you could teach me. Like why you keep trying to hide things from me." Lissa had a habit of taking things way too far. Robin would have to back down from this one.

One Jump Ahead | Lissa & Gaius
Gaius seemed to consider this for a moment.
If she couldnāt give him more sweetsā¦
Waitā¦
"Hold on, you said you would give me all of the honeycakes except one. Tell you what, Princess. You give me that last honeycake too, and Iāll find you your pretty little tiara."
The thief grinned at her, pocketing the little orb.
"Anyways⦠Maybe you should come with me this time, who knows what else will be taken from you, huh? Not like you really pay attention to your surroundings, right?"
He pulled Lissa up.Ā
"Youāre walking next to me, at least this way if I see anyone pull a fast one I can catch them without wasting my breath or money looking for clues."
As Lissa joined his side, Gaius walked through the crowd, eyes peeled for any thieves running around other than himself.
"What? You'd even deprive me of my last honeycake? You're so mean!" Lissa wasn't exactly in a position to be refusing his proposal, as she had lost her own possessions through her own carelessness... but... cake... "Fine, fine. Why don't you just take everything else I own for good measure?"
"And while I'm at it, I do pay attention to my surroundings!" She allowed herself to be pulled up and stayed close to Gaius's side as he started walking to prevent anything else from being stolen. She was about two more pieces of jewelry away from going on a rampage in the market.
"A good thief can steal from even the most alert individual, such as myself. Obviously." She crossed her arms and looked into the crowd angrily. "You should know that, of all people."
Midnight Veil | Lissa & Open
It was well into the quiet night, but Lissa couldnāt sleep. The girl usually wasnāt susceptible to sleep problems, and although her sleep was light and she could be roused easily at any point, it continued through the night. After much tossing and deliberation, she jumped out of bed and put on a short robe and her boots. Maybe she couldnāt fall asleep because she wasnāt tired enough. As for what to do to make her tired? Well⦠any physical activity really.Ā
She was going to take a walk in the castle gardens. They were quiet enough for her to be able to walk through without being questioned. āLady Lissa? What are you doing out this time of night? Get back to your room!ā She could already hear the night guards and Ā late-working seamstresses in her head and wanted to avoid them as best she could.Ā
The moon was a small sliver in the sky and didnāt offer much in the way of light. In order to stay out of sight, Lissa didnāt bring a candle either. It was just her sharing space with the darkness, and she was kinda spooked even after a few seconds outside. M-maybe the fear would make her tired, r-right? Suddenly, she heard a crack from behind the trees.Ā
"H-Hey, whoās there?" Another rustle from a bush nearby. Risen had appeared in the garden before, and Lissa was afraid this was going to be again. It couldnāt be an animal, it was something bigger. Someone was there, but they didnāt attack her. She ought to get help, but instead picked up a decorative rock, prepared to throw it. "Show yourself! My Lissa cannons are LOCKED AND LOADED."

Get back to your room!' She could already hear the night guards and Ā late-working seamstresses in her head and wanted to avoid them as best she could.Ā
The moon was a small sliver in the sky and didn't offer much in the way of light. In order to stay out of sight, Lissa didn't bring a candle either. Someone was there, but they didn't attack her. She ought to get help, but instead picked up a decorative rock, prepared to throw it. "Show yourself! My Lissa cannons are LOCKED AND LOADED."
Gaius was rather unamused at this point as Lissa jumped on his back, throwing him off balance.Ā
Wrapping his arms around her legs, though, he conceded and allowed Lissa a free piggy back ride.
"Canāt say Iām gonna keep my trap shut, Princess. Your big brother and your nanny are gonna be wondering why youāre piss-drunk and will probably pin the blame on me, seeing as Iām the one who found you in this state."
"So no can do, Princess. The gloves are cominā off and Blue is gonna know about your antics in the shadiest bar in town."
He didnāt exactly want Chrom or Frederick harping on him, so he decided that if they asked, heād tell him every single little detail.
Hell, it could be really funny.
Lissa wasn't gonna let them find out she went off on her own and did this. She didn't exactly know how that was going to work out, since if anyone saw her like this Gaius would definitely be in a world of trouble. It was really his only option to not get sliced up by her brother's sword. "Gai-US!!! NO!! Why you sooo mean to me?"
"If I found you doin' somethin' bad, I would neeeever say anything to anyone, cause we're best buddies!!" Not exactly the best of friends, though saving each other in battle all the time changes one's perspective of 'friends.'Ā
"I saw you take a whole burlap sack of sugar from the kitchen one time!! The cooks were so angry! I'mmmm gonna tell Chrom!" And now...... now she was crying, little sniffles into Gaius's shoulder, too overcome with sadness to be consoled.Ā
One Jump Ahead | Lissa & Gaius
Gaius had come back, intending to show her the little trinket he found, but stopped, looking at her suspiciously.
"⦠You got a headache, Princess? That why youāre clutching at your head like that? Or is this some sort of noble display I donāt know much about?"
Obviously, he was teasing, but the way Lissa held her head was very odd indeed.
"So uh. What exactly are you trying to hide from me, because itās not working."
The thief played with the stem of his lollipop in his mouth, sharp green eyes watching the princess try to hide in desperation.
"Iām gonna take a wild guess and say you let someone make off with your tiara or something valuable, right?"
He snorted, āCrivens, at this rate theyāll strip you down until youāre in the nude. And I donāt know about you, but I hear plenty wouldnāt mind seeing the naked Princess of Ylisse in all her glory.ā
Flicking his finished lollipop on the ground, he approached her, pulling her hands from her hair, seeing for his own eyes her missing headband.
"Yup, I had a feeling. Alright, for this, I get the deal doubled. Or we can keep our current deal and I just find your little necklace. Your choice Princess, but I donāt work for free."
The thief pulled his hands from Lissa, waiting on her decision, āIf it helps any, I found this little bead with your fancy brand on it, so I bet my candy stash Iām pretty close in cracking this case open.ā
Lissa let her hands drop in defeat. She'd been found out. "i don't know how this keeps happeneing," she commented, guiltily looking at her shoes. Maybe those would be stolen next. Deciding to ignore the comment about her baring naked in the marketplace, she received the bead from Gaius and quickly identified it.
"Yes, this is the top bead of the necklace. You're missing the actual pendant." She held it back out for him to take it. "Nice job! It looks like this too. But it's bigger." Honestly, she was impressed he found this small bead anywhere, let alone a bustling center of commerce. Her cakes were going to a good cause.
"I don't have anything else edible to give you. But I need you to find my headband too. You've already hustled my honeycakes. " Money she had. But Gaius didn't need any more money than Chrom was already paying him. "What else can I do instead?"
ā ā» ā āMaybe if you talked less, people wouldnāt find you annoying. And itās nice to see that everyone cares. What about you specifically?ā
āAt the point, the teasing was just to get her off his case. His earlier behavior was easy for him to brush off, why was it so hard for her? A chuckle escaped his lips as her pink flush let its presence be known, and Robin didnāt even attempt to pull back. He had to admit, playing with her like this was rather fun.ā
āI can win this Lissa, but I donāt think you want to see me try.ā
"I told you already, I care, okay? Jeez." Since when was Lissa not a part of 'everyone' anymore? "Why do you want to know so badly? Is it because you care soooo much about me that you want to be sure I feel the same way to validate your emotions?"
"Well, maybe you should talk more!" Lissa retorted. "It's hard always being the one that has to say stupid things to fill the silence because the other person's brain is too empty to be able to have on the spot conversations for more than a few moments." With this, Lissa really only meant Robin's brain was empty. She was resorting to simple insults now, attempting to slowly wear away his iron defenses to reveal something hopefully a little more sincere and actually nice.

"Oh! I dare you to, er, steal one of the Shepherd's short clothes or call someone a dork! Yeah!"
"I call people dorks on a daily basis. thatās not a fun dare." So that meant she was stealing someoneās small clothes⦠but who?
"Hey Nowi, you want to raid Tharjaās closet with me? Sheās probably got some nice stuff!"
"Funny, this your first time drinking, Princess? Itās kinda amusing how you canāt handle a little bit of alcohol, but I guess being the youngest of noble siblings really takes its toll on you, huh?"
The thief for the most part ignored Lissaās drunken banter, but he was grinning from ear to ear in amusement over her silly antics.
"Yāknow, I donāt think Blueād be really happy over his baby sister getting piss drunk in some shady tavern. Youāre lucky I was there, Princess, who knows what kind of crap you couldāve gotten yourself into if you stayed there?"
He snickered as the princess continued shouting like a pirate, he found this incredibly amusing, maybe he should get Lissa drunk more often just to watch her make a fool of herself.
"You can so bet Iām not letting this go and Iāll be reminding you of this everyday from now on."
Eventually, they exited town, Gaius still hauling Lissa over his shoulder before they finally reached camp.
"Wonder if the steward would have anything to say over this? Hell, Iām looking forward to seeing this mess unwind, mainly because it doesnāt concern me this time."
"NNOO!" Lissa writhed in Gaius's grip. It was the only thing she really could do at this point to show her drunken displeasure. "You can't tell annnyone Gaius, okie?" Most of her friends would be really sad to see her like this. Chrom would have more of a startling flashback to many, many years before. Lissa was pretty much the same as a baby.Ā
She wiggled and wiggled until she was free of her captor, and fell onto the ground with loud thud. Luckily, it didn't hurt her that much, and she quickly sprang up and put her hand on Gaius's lips. "Shhh..... Shhh. There iss'no need to tell anyone about this. No Chrom, no Freddy."
"Jus' you n' me, yeah?" Once her mind told her Gaius had enough to understand, she jumped onto him, desiring a piggyback ride instead of the humiliating position he had her in before. (Though it wasn't the position that was humiliating...) "Now take me back!"
