One Jump Ahead | Lissa & Gaius
It was a sunny afternoon and Lissa decided to take a trip to the nearby marketplace alone. Etiquette classes dragged on for far too long and even the musty, busy area of the market was a breath of fresh air to Lissa and her pin-pricked fingers. She was not the best at embroidery, and probably never would be unless you counted her threads, frayed beyond recovery.
Because of the weather, today was an especially crowded day and personal space while meandering about the market did not exist. There was one person always within an inch of Lissa, and many bumped into her without even saying sorry! How rude. People were speeding past at every direction, knowing exactly where they were going. Lissa felt like maybe she chose the wrong day to come, mostly because she was just looking. But too many people were bargaining too close to the stands to just window shop.
Someone bumped into Lissa so hard it almost sent her to the ground. "H-Hey!" She grumbled, trying to regain her balance. Attempting to sneak away into a less people-dense area, she instinctively gripped her pendant so it didn't swing, but it wasn't there! She first looked to the ground, but there were too many feet, it was impossible to find something so small amongst them. Could it have gotten stolen?
Lissa quickly spun around a few times, not sure what to be looking for, but keeping an eye out for someone suspicious. In the crowd, she spotted Gaius in the distance, who she promptly marched up to and stuck out her hand.Â
