this common speculation of arya as a sailor/adventurer is also misogynistic to me because a) it's coming with the unfortunate implication that you think she was having an adventure in the riverlands and braavos. she was forced to leave for braavos because she had nowhere else to go after being a prisoner of war for an extended period of time b) this nebulous idea of freedom from the patriarchy being conceptualised as, like, leaving westeros and wandering around in essos instead women being allowed access to power that was previously denied to them is pretty troubling, we're saying statecraft and politics is the sphere of men.
