why is biopunk only ever used as horror? Where’s the biopunk equivalent of cyberpunk edgerunners? Give me a Sci fi setting with dungeon meshi style chimeric modifications as a primary worldbuilding mechanic.
extra arms, giant monster body from the waist down… go to a sketchy grafting parlor and get some budget bioelectricity organs that give you Lichtenberg burns every time you use them. Give me a character that wears a mask for half the story and then reveals that they’ve got three rows of teeth, six tongues, and heavily paralytic saliva.
I don’t know, maybe Tumblr User Heron Knight Georg, who repeatedly fantasizes about molting like a cicada, gets gender envy from bloodborne bosses, and thinks that the Bone Turner’s Tale would be the perfect summer read, is an outlier and should not have been counted, but I know what website I’m on. I know just how gender affirming having six arms or feathers instead of body hair would be for most of the people here.
I think there’s some potential here if biopunk is used for more than scorn-level H.R Giger dystopian shenanigans. Give me biopunk 2077.
(Update: just wrote an example of this)
grafting parlor a little biopunk short story I made as an example of what I want to see more of in the genre. feel free to use any element
might delete later because it’s uglay. …happy Mother’s Day featuring Peril and Scarlet.
10 years ago today, the culmination of dozens of hours of puzzle-solving and collaboration across the globe concluded with the discovery of a statue in the Oregon woods. I was lucky enough to be one of the few people who was actually present at this historic event in Gravity Falls history, and unlucky enough to become the primary witness in the statue's devastating removal less than 24 hours later.
In honor of the 10th anniversary of the Cipher Hunt, I'm posting rare photos of the famous statue and the events that transpired!
Note: I did not take the statue. He was removed by the police due to a property dispute. I was simply there at the same time and documented as much of it as I could.
To begin, the journey up the hill and what it looked like at the time:
I am in the yellow shirt + Dipper hat, my sister is in the Mabel sweater that she made herself!
Next, Bill in his resting place and the beginning of his removal:
Note: Bill's hat was forcibly detached by the man who was hired to remove him from the property. There is a photo of me holding it, but I promise I did not break or steal his precious hat!
Bill being loaded into the man's truck and driven away:
As they were leaving, those of us who were at the scene all sang "We'll Meet Again" in hopes that our words may ring true. At this point, we did not know whether or not Bill would ever be seen again.
And finally, a couple hours and some ice cream later, we reconnected with Bill at the Reedsport Police Station where he briefly took up residence before finding his permanent home in Confusion Hill. This was, as far as I know, the last time his hat was seen.
My participation in the Cipher Hunt opened the doors to my career and is still something I consider one of my life's greatest defining moments. I cannot put into words how honored I am to have been part of the Hunt and how grateful I am to Alex Hirsch for creating something that made Gravity Falls real. I will never forget how it felt to have my flashlight beam pierce through the trees and land on the tip of that concrete hat for the first time. I WAS Dipper Pines in that moment.
Bill can still be found at his permanent home at Confusion Hill, where you can visit him and pay your disrespects.
Happy 10 years, Cipher Hunt.

rarely do i repost things and especially from shittr but this video is shutting down core partsof my mental processing i think
I know this 2 robbed the Louvre I just can't prove it
ohhh luz noceda. imagine being one of her classmates. one year you're going to school and some kid brings snakes to her book report and turns her eyelids inside out to freak people out. summer happens and you dont see her for months. when school starts again she comes back and she's. neat?? and well mannered?? still a little silly and clueless, but she's paying attention in class and doing well and she seems to have friends now. months pass and then suddenly she's different Again. she's got a scar over her eyebrow. her hair has grown out. she's got this letterman jacket that's clearly not from your school and it looks old as hell and a little too big. some people try to talk to her but she barely reacts. she's got bags under her eyes. there's a look in them that makes most people turn away. no one tries to ask her what changed. she has an outburst in your english class. there is no book report with snakes this year
I had to read a Heinlein book for a literature class on sci-fi and it was HORRIBLE and the only thing that got me though it was thinking "it's time for more Deep Thoughts With Heinlein(tm)" what a strange man this author was...
my working theory is that the most foundational works of literature in a given genre are the ones that inspire the most concepts and tropes that are carried forward in the genre and this inspiring property is frequently because there is, to simplify, something deeply wrong with them
So, uh... following that train of thought... what's deeply wrong with the Lord of the Rings?
Johnald Ronald Rolkien Tolkien built fifteen different elvish languages and wrote poetry in all of them and you ask me what was wrong with him

It’s very funny to me how cis people say they have mixed feelings about Jax being trans because they’re not trans and can’t relate to her anymore… What do you think it feels like for trans people?
I see a lot of trans people, myself included, relating to cis characters all the time. But by that logic, weren’t we supposed to?
Being trans is just one thing about her. There’s so much more to her than that. You just can’t relate to her anymore because there’s ONE thing you don’t share or understand?
There are so few trans characters. If you can’t relate to her anymore, that’s okay, but remember that there are people who finally feel like they have a character they can relate to in that way.
Her story and her tragic ending are a lesson especially for trans people. But anyone can learn from it: accept who you are. Let people in.
I love you, Alex
