She rolled her eyes and teasingly punched her commander in the shoulder in retaliation. “If the High Seraphim are getting their panties in a twist about how long it’s taking, I don’t get why you won’t just force that rotten bitch to tell us where it’s hidden, instead of letting her lounge around all day?”
He shoved her back much harder, nearly knocking her into the wall with a warning glare. There was a long, awkward silence as they made their way back towards the Officer’s lounge.
After checking for any new cameras that may have appeared during their absence, Adam flung himself onto a worn couch, tossing his hat towards an end table and watching it nearly topple a lamp. “I’m not burning that bridge by reneging on our deal, bitch. Especially if she doesn’t actually know where to find any of it. Besides, here’s our real lead.” he dug through his coat and produced a hand drawn pamphlet. He handed it over to her, and she pulled a face at the ridiculous crayon drawings of a dilapidated building covered in hearts and rainbows.
“Some dumbass Vaulties have left the nest. They’re all alone out in some dump of a hotel, literally lit up in neon fuckin’ lights. We trash that shithole, and convince those stupid bitches to talk. If they don’t know, then we can still use ‘em as a bargaining chip with the rest of those subterranean cunts.”

The Army is still targeting the hotel, but not out of spite against Charlie, since they aren’t exactly meeting to try and negotiate in this AU. They’re missing something very important, and think that maybe the Vaults know something about it...
In a setting where technology has basically been hit with a reset button, the battle between new visual and old audio media isn’t really much of a fight.
Instead, Alastor and Vox represent two different approaches to life in the post-war Wasteland:
Alastor grew up in a very remote, rustic homestead in the swamps of the deep south. Self-sufficiency was paramount to survival - you couldn’t rely on purchasing pre-packaged food or medicine from traders, so you had to forage, hunt, or grow your own. Without easy access to new supplies, you needed to be able to repair and maintain your own clothes, shelter, and equipment. This, amusingly, makes him much more tech savvy than his canon incarnation. He’s still somewhat of a Luddite, though, with a disdain for robotics, power armor, laser and plasma weaponry, and even Pip-Boys and terminals. Give him some old radio equipment to tinker with and a proper projectile rifle over that fiddly nonsense any day. He has a whole library of almanacs, both pre-war and newer hand-written ones by Wastelanders, and his more normal talk segments often come with tips and instructions for repair and survival, encouraging independence.
Vox grew up in the ruins of Pentagram City, and began running with local organized crime at a young age, until an Overlord took him under their wing (that is, until Vox could gather allies and stage a hostile takeover of his mentor’s territory). He sees the value in consumerism and convenience products, peddling quick fixes and new distractions to the people of the Wasteland to build up his empire. He adores the latest, greatest shiny examples of Progress, being an adept programmer and wielding a decent understanding of mechanical engineering, despite most of his products being stolen inventions or re-engineered pre-war tech.

I love your fallout au!! I was just thinking yesterday about how much Vox reminded me of Mr. House from Fallout NV and how cool a fallout au would be. I'm so glad I found this.

If Vox were pre-War he'd definitely be sitting in on that Vault-Tec meeting, trying to pick fights over how he was "winning" at capitalism. He is much more of a control freak over the Vee's district than House is over New Vegas, but their visions for the future of their respective territories are very similar.
I did briefly write him to interact largely through portraits on screens like Mr. House, but having him be a more mundane guy gelled better with the other Overlords and his rivalries.
Despite lending his resources and staff to Charlie for her Hotel, Alastor himself usually kept to his radio station, popping in seemingly at random just to watch them struggle. As time passed, however, Charlie noticed a change in his visits. He had started to linger, despite still refraining from joining in on her planned activities, and on some daytime visits she noticed him pacing around the perimeter of the Hotel, scuffing marks into the packed dirt where shadows fell. Later, his building crews began putting up low wire fences that wouldn’t be much use for defense.
One morning, she was jarred out of bed by a cheerful reveille and dragged outside to find stacks of dirt, fertilizer, seeds, starter plants, and tools. The whole crew spent the morning digging up the grounds of the hotel, turning the soil over and planting while he lectured them on how to maintain a garden.
Later that night, after they wiped off the sweat and dirt and Vaggie was helping apply cream to her sunburn, she asked Charlie why she was still so giddy after hard labor all day. Charlie beamed at her girlfriend and explained that this garden meant Alastor was planning for their future.

He is! Vault 666 is my Fallout AU, and Husk is a Ghoul.
Not sure how familiar you are with Fallout, so I'm sorry for the infodump if you already knew all the background:
Ghouls are people who got severe radiation exposure, but instead of dying, they kind of mutate into semi-immortal beings that actually benefit from radiation. But they still suffered awful radiation burns, and the radiation exposure caused a lot of tissue death, so they also end up with necrotic/gangrenous tissue as well as lots of scarring.
They're basically zombies in the setting, but they're still alive (feral Ghouls are a common enemy type, and act like fast, aggressive mindless zombies). Lots of Ghouls have distinctly gravelly and/or low voices, depending on which game you're playing. Many also adopt kind of weird names for themselves, and their settlements have death-themed names, and since they can't die from old age in most settings, a lot of the Ghouls you meet are several hundred years old.
So when I was redesigning the characters for the AU, I saw "grumpy old man with alcohol issues and a sexy voice" and immediately needed to make him a Ghoul. His name even kind of fits.
Plus, this way he gets to keep his heart-shaped nose (cavity).
He's very dressed down here because they're working in the dirt, but he's usually in a very sloppily done-up suit, coat, and ushanka, which give him more of a Husk silhouette and color scheme.

This was it. The last part she needed to repair the Hotel's old water pumps was only a hundred yards away, according to the coordinates she downloaded onto her Pip-Boy. The trees began to thin, moss and twigs giving way to grass and pebbles as they approached the long-abandoned build site.
Her face fell as she took in what was at the center of this new clearing - something must have dammed the nearby stream some time ago, and now a small pond completely enveloped the construction site.
"Well, it looks like this plan's sunk!" Alastor chuckled at his own awful pun as Charlie wandered closer to the banks, her geiger counter starting to click sluggishly as she approached the water.
Vaggie followed her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. We can always backtrack to MacGuffin Manufacturing and see if there's another one we may have missed."
"We spent hours hacking their old intranet for all the manifests," Sir Pentious whined. "This was the only model MGU1028 flange within 100 miles!"
Vaggie shot him a venomous glare over her shoulder as Charlie began fidgeting with her Pip-Boy gloomily. "Maybe we can see if Voxtech has any parts close enough to fit? There's gotta be some other options."
"Husk, go in and get it."
The ghoul turned to Alastor incredulously. "What?"
Alastor's smile tightened in irritation. "It's a pond of irradiated water. The shipment was made the evening before the bombs fell; they probably never had a chance to install the parts. You won't get poisoned going in for a quick dip to grab a box. "
"What? Fuck you. I might be immune to rads, but I still gotta breathe, asshole!"
Charlie turned back to the group, looking thoughtful. "You can't swim?"
Husk made an odd noise that may have been a derisive snort if he still had a nose. "Not a lot of swimming holes out in the Mojave Desert."
Niffty waved an enthusiastic arm, as if waiting to be called upon in class. "I can't swim either!"
Angel Dust turned to Charlie and Vaggie. "Don't some vaults got like, swimming pools and shit? Can't you girls swim?"
"666 wasn't really a luxury vault." Vaggie explained as Charlie shook her head sadly.
Angel looked over at Sir Pentious, who also shook his head. "Figured. Wasn't really somethin' to learn in the city, neither."
There was an awkward silence for a few moments before Alastor sighed in disgust, leaning his rifle against a tree and shrugging off his pack. "Hand me the Rad-x."
Charlie jumped a little and stared at him in shock as he started to untie his bowtie. "Uh, Al?"
He handed the accessory off to Niffty who appeared obediently at his side, and paused in unbuttoning his vest to gesture at Charlie to hand over the pills. "Nola is one of the Sunken Cities, and unlike you Wastelanders, we actually bothered with basic survival skills. I suppose it's up to me to fetch the parts for your little project."
"Seriously?!" Charlie didn't bother stifling her squeal of delight, rushing forward to hug him in excitement before backing off when he stiffened in discomfort. She cleared her throat awkwardly and handed over the bottle of Rad-X. "Here you go. Ohmigosh, thank you so much for this, Alastor!"
Husk turned to the radio host, pissed off. "If you could do it, why the hell ask me to do it, asshole?"
"Because, even if I know how to hold my breath, I'm still susceptible to radiation." He tipped out several pills and swallowed them dry before dropping his vest on Niffty's head. The maid giggled and folded the item carefully, following Alastor as he approached the water line. "Now, if you wouldn't mind turning around?"
When the others just looked at him in confusion, he rolled his eyes. "I'm not about to spend the rest of the day trooping around in radiation-soaked clothing, nor am I willing to put on a show for you all. So turn around if you want me to go through with this."
Charlie obediently turned on her heel and gestured for the others to do the same. Angel protested when Vaggie grabbed him by the shoulders and forcibly turned and held him in place. "Why are you actin' like I'm gonna sneak a peek or something, geez?!"
There was another minute or so of rustling as he undressed, and then Charlie had to steel herself not to turn around at the sound of him wading into the pond with a pained hiss. When she could no longer hear him moving through the water, she chanced a peek over her shoulder. The only sign of Alastor's presence was some ripples on the surface of the pond.
The others joined her in watching the surface. After several long moments with no sign of the man, Charlie started checking the time on her Pip-Boy nervously. Husk turned to Angel and Sir Pentious standing next to him with a smirk. "Fingers crossed he gets eaten by a mirelurk down there."
Vaggie couldn't quite stifle her laugh as Charlie gasped in horror. "Oh my God we never checked if there was anything in the water!"
Niffty huffed in irritation at the the others from her place as an impromptu clothing rack. "Don't be silly. There's no nests or tracks anywhere. Mister Alastor wouldn't have just walked right in if there was anything dangerous around."
Charlie tried to let Niffty's confidence bolster her, but as more time crept by without anything disturbing the surface, she couldn't help but start pacing anxiously. "How long can people normally hold their breath?"
Husk canted his head in a way she figured meant he was rolling his eyes, though their solid black color kept her from knowing for sure. "Your first mistake is thinking he'd do anything normally, princess. He's just -"
He cut himself off as Alastor surfaced and took a deep breath, trying to shake his soaked curls out of his eyes before glaring at the crowd assembled near the shore. "Really?"
He was met with sheepish smiles, before Charlie seemed to remember something and swung down her pack to dig through it while the others turned back around. The man narrowed his eyes at her, treading water awkwardly while trying to hold the container and keep his head above water at the same time. She shot him an apologetic smile, and placed her prize on top of Niffty's stack of clothing - her spare blanket for cold nights. "Here, you can use this to dry off!"
She obediently turned back around and listened as he swam back to shore, much less gracefully than before. There was a scrape as the box was dragged ashore, and she wondered if they should have just struck up a camp and started a fire despite the early hour. She wasn't sure if Alastor would be up for any more walking after an extended dip in radwater. To distract herself, she fiddled some with her Pip-Boy's map, wincing at a muffled coughing behind her while Alastor pulled on his clothes.
At the sound of slightly uneven steps from the shoreline, she turned around and winced again. Despite his careful pace, Alastor's gait was still unsteady, and there were livid pink patches visible above his collar and on his pale face. His shirtsleeves and vest were unbuttoned, adding to his disconcertingly disheveled appearance.
As she weighed if it'd be worse to bruise his ego by suggesting resting or letting him walk around like this, he dropped to his knees by his pack and fished out a bag of RadAway. With a practiced hand, he uncapped the needle and found a vein in his arm. He massaged the IV bag a little as he slowly got back to his feet, using his rifle to help prop himself up.
Before she could open her mouth, he pointed at the box on the shore. "There's your flange, dear. Husk, grab my pack; I'll get it from you later."
Vaggie jumped in, eye narrowed suspiciously. "'Later'? Where are you going? You're going to wander off on your own without supplies?"
His tight grin made Charlie wonder how he was able to keep the some sort of smile on his face no matter what was going on or how he was feeling. It looked like his gums might be bleeding a little. "That's my own business, my dear. You should head back to the Hotel and make those repairs straight away now that you have the parts."
With a dismissive wave, RadAway bag tucked into the shoulder of his vest, he started off in the opposite direction.

For ground vehicles, in Pentagram city in districts where the Overlords bother with infrastructure, the roads are passable enough that carts/rickshaws/etc. are common for people getting around. Bicycles are amusingly popular in Cannibal Town, which has properly paved walkways, and would probably have a trolley if it were big enough that you couldn't easily travel on foot.
Vox loves showing off, and the Vees want to encourage as many people into their territory as possible, so they do have a monorail/tram that goes around their district, and he bugs his neighbors to let him build lines through their districts as well. The roads and sidewalks in their district are absolutely shit though and you could lose a Brahmin in some of those potholes.
Thinking about it, Zeezi would absolutely have some sort of Mad Max truck with big treads for offroading, just for the fun of it. Not practical or central to her operations, but seeing a restored semi in neon paint and deatchclaw skulls loaded up with Raiders screaming towards you would ruin anyone's day.
The Army of the Righteous, true to their Enclave-esque role, do have some tanks and land vehicles, which mostly go between their bases. The Wasteland's terrain can make it really inefficient to use them as a main source of transportation, and vertibirds are their preferred mode of transportation for Exterminations.
So in my AU, there are functioning land vehicles, but they're not really as common as pre-war because few roadways are restored, and more infrastructure, especially in the city, is focused on foot traffic.

They have stated the show is apparently 100% canon and they're using it to retcon the only good Fallout game to come out in decades. It wasn't even enough to ruin West Coast lore post-FNV, they're literally saying FNV never happened.

This post deliberately lied about several things while being close-ish to what happened, Vault Tec didn't start the great war but a guy from Vault Tec launched Nukes at Shady Sands (no, the show never says Shady Sands is pre-war and like some people say it does) but Vault Tec was *complicit* in allowing the war to happen for profit because well, they make fallout shelters. (also they mention the Enclave twice in the show and they literally play the Fallout theme ONLY when showing the NCR flag the first time in the show. RobCo also is referenced and House might literally appear in the last episode in a flashback, or an exec that looks like him)
This post also uses the credits completely out of order, and also seems to forget the entire plot of the Lonesome Road DLC which the show takes a lot of cues from to fill in what happened *after* FNV, the chalkboard itself does look like it says the explosion was, in 2277 but the First Battle of Hoover Dam would be the fall of the NCR if they lost in FNV canonically, especially when FNV goes leaps and bounds to show that the NCR is withering from spreading itself out too thin. Also Maximus mentions Shady Sands happening "When I was a kid" about 12, the show happens in 2296, so the bombs could have easily fallen on Shady Sands after FNV (in or after 2281) I made a larger post a while ago but this post really gets on my nerves. I think things will be more clear next season since this show admittedly does have an issue with conveying information, but that's a chalkboard in a class for children with an oversimplified timeline of events. Also the writers and crew have said FNV is still fully canon to the timeline
You kind of just miss Brotherhood of Steel development by the looks of things, but all you need to know is they have airships & are more fascist now but I think replaying Lonesome Road is actually the best thing you can do in preparation for the show it's pretty much where the show gets it's concepts of the post FNV timeline and contextualizes the choices in the show a lot better. I'm glad it was the last Fallout thing I'd played before the show
also I made one mistake in my reply before, Maximus Actually says it (shady sands) happened twelve years ago, not that he was twelve, I had mixed up 2 separate lines together in my head. The show takes place in 2296, 12 years before that is 2284 which is 3 years after New Vegas takes place.
I mean aside from like most of that original post being just flat-out wrong about stuff that smarter and more invested people have broken down in other comments, this will probably lose me any Fallout fans following me:
I don't hold New Vegas as sacrosanct and Above All Else for Fallout, and the fanboys who wank over it as THE BEST tend to just be like the stat-memorizing weirdo gatekeepers who don't get that it's an open RPG and multiple things can therefore be true at once and there is no ~SACRED TIMELINE~
Like it's cool that they're even trying to fit stuff from the games into the show at all, but different media plays by different rules, and I think it's more fun to be able to pick and choose what you like from each thing and bash them all together like a kid with action figures. And anyone who claims Fallout's timeline makes sense to begin with and is a purely serious matter is just kidding themselves.
I mean I also have like flowcharts and timelines for my AU characters because I want to be ~accurate~ to the setting, but at the same time I have blatantly fudged stuff for my AU because it just works better and is more fun. There are more than 122 Vaults, and the New Vegas strip was established like a century earlier than in canon so I could use it for a backstory.
Things in Fallout go however you played them, and it's ok if other peoples' stories aren't the same as yours.
