Liam Payne’s shaking off his boy band roots by hooking up with Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J … and the result is way more Timberlake and Jay Z than anything One Direction ever did. TMZ’s obtained the new track called, “You” – one of 5 Liam’s laid down with producer TM88 (from 808 Mafia) and Juicy J – and you’ll hear the 1Der singing the hook. As we reported back in January, Liam’s got flow too … we’re told you’ll hear him rapping, as well as singing, when his solo album drops.  [TMZ]

As most of you know, many of us at LiamOTRA continued over at TheDailyPayne to bring you a blog that was non-tour Liam.

Late last night, TheDailyPayne was deactivated for reasons beyond any of us. We are devastated by this loss, as we worked hard both on there and our Twitter to try to be a source for Liam.

Either our blog was deactivated for no reason by Tumblr or was compromised. We believe that our account was compromised by someone by hacking into it and changing our name from thedailypayne to thedaLiypayne. We do not know who or how, but either way, the end result is the same: 

TheDailyPayne was deactivated somehow.

If you guys could send Tumblr Support messages @ [email protected] or the Help tab to help us try to retrieve our account and find out what caused our deactivation that would be so AMAZING! We really are all completely upset over here and all the support in the world would be helpful.

If you need help crafting a message to send to Tumblr Support, it can go like this:

“I wanted to express concern over a blog I follow being deactivated. The owners of thedailypayne.tumblr.com confirmed that they did not deactivate their own account and that the blog was deactivated without their consent. The blog should be restored and the original owners given access back to the account since they played no part in the deletion.”

Apple’s friendly Liam robot only rips apart old iPhones, don’t worry    

Meet Liam, Apple’s friendly project (and not at all a One Direction member) designed to take apart your old iPhone for recycling purposes. He’s not terrifying at all.

It’s basically a set of songs an artist (or artists) release unofficially (AKA not through the standard methods of distribution via a label) and they don’t tend to be a part of an artist’s recording deal. Mixtapes can be free or available for purchase - it varies. For example, Drake’s “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” was a mixtape that was made available for sale, but Tinashe’s “Amethyst” mixtape was free. 

Mixtapes tend to be either much longer or much shorter than a standard album. Chris Brown’s most recent mixtape “Before The Party” had 34 tracks, whereas Childish Gambino’s “Kauai” was only 7 tracks long. They usually tend to be on the longer side, but a lot of mixtapes are also the length of normal albums (as we saw, Juicy J/Wiz’s mixtape is 14 tracks long, which is about as long as a standard album).

Another key difference is that albums are made to make money - the singles that are released are crafted in such a way that they’re meant to do well commercially. Since a good number of mixtapes are free, they aren’t really created with a financial gain in mind. Sometimes you can notice this difference between an artist’s mixtape and their album, as mixtapes are more likely to have songs that are pretty dope, but wouldn’t do well commercially. That’s not to say that mixtapes are better or worse than albums (or vice versa), but that’s just a notable difference between the two.

Lots of artists are more well known for their mixtapes than their actual albums, actually (Juicy J is one of them - his mixtapes are really highly anticipated by his fans). New artists tend to introduce their music via mixtapes as well (as they might not have the funds or backing to produce a studio album).

Can Snapchat stories be eligible for Grammys?

Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa are releasing a mixtape — and One Direction’s Liam Payne will make a guest appearance.

Late on Sunday night, Juicy (born Jordan Michael Houston) Instagrammed a track list for a forthcoming collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, whom he reps as part owner of Wiz’s Taylor Gang Records. The mixtape, apparently titled TGODMAFIA, includes a song called “You,” featuring Payne.

Though the rapper-producer deleted the photo, he posted a snippet of the song on his Snapchat story on Monday, where Payne can clearly be heard singing, “All I need is you.” (808 Mafia producer TM88 reposted the track list on his own Instagram.)

“You” marks the second tease we’ve heard of Payne’s forthcoming solo efforts, both of which have been more R&B-focused in nature than what he’s written and performed as part of 1D. Back in January, Payne posted an Instagram video of himself singing a verse fans have taken to calling “Bugatti Sport,” a Drake-like recording that followed studio time with Juicy J and TM88 earlier that month.

Juicy and Payne were first photographed in the studio back in January 2014, but we’ve yet to hear any full-length results of those collaborations. But in mid-December, Juicy promised that the tracks would come “soon,” and TM88 tweeted that the recordings would appear on Juicy’s next studio album.
