v. intr. feeling the tranquil pleasure of being near a gathering but not quite in it—hovering on the perimeter of a campfire, chatting outside a party while others dance inside, resting your head in the backseat of a car listening to your friends chatting up front—feeling blissfully invisible yet still fully included, safe in the knowledge that everyone is together and everyone is okay, with all the thrill of being there without the burden of having to be.

Why are you letting anxiety grip your heart? Why do you look into your future and fear it? Has His goodness not proven itself over and over again? Has He not shown you that He doesn’t just meet your expectations, but continually exceeds them? The unknown is scary, of course. You live in a fallen world where nothing is truly stable. However, He is your Rock. The foundation you were built upon. The One who has never failed you, never will, and always comes through for you. You have a God who cares for you, who loves you, and who calls you ‘child.’ The pains and stings of this world will never overtake you. You are a child of a King. A child of the Creator of Heaven and Earth. You will, without a doubt, get through this.
