CHEIW SHOWROOM / 2015
The shoes manufacturing company MTNG Experience asked us to design the interior of the new showroom for Cheiw, their kids shoes brand.
The 65m2 room would need to showcase more than 400 models of shoes and hold an eight people meeting table.
Our aim was to minimize the visual weight of the elements needed to display the shoes in order to emphasize the product itself and keep it legible. We also wanted to introduce some warm materials and playful details using the colors of the brand.
We decided to take this opportunity as a chance to design and produce by ourselves different furnitures:
Wall modular system
To organize the different collections of shoes, the wall system consists of white perforated boards where can be attached the tiny aluminum shelves that hold each single shoe separately. Once the shoes are placed, the shelves get covered bringing a levitation illusion.
Meeting table
From the beginning, the challenge was to make a big wooden table that looked light and slim. At some point of our continuos exploration of constructive details, came up the idea of a particular steel fitting to connect the top to the solid oak legs. This component, fixed between the birch plywood and the thin HPL board that conform the tabletop, allowed us to make a sturdy table but keeping a extremely simple appearance.
Double top tables
In order of getting more levels of exhibition surface out of the wall, we decided to make double top tables. We tried to maintain the same language of the meeting table but incorporating color details and a playful wavy element that adds a sort of funny feeling to the space and also serves as a stand to highlight a special pair of shoes.
Shelving
For displaying bigger products of the brand, like backpacks and other accessories, we created angled shelvings that look like super width ladders standing against the wall. The vertical components consists of perforated solid oak strips while the horizontals are white coated steel tubes that fit into the holes of the wood parts. To hold the products we made some aluminum coated shelves and hooks that can be fixed on the tubes.
*The lamps and chairs that we used on this project were not designed by us. The Unfold pendant lamp was designed by Form Us With Love for Muuto and the AAC12 chair was designed by Hee Welling for Hay.

Alla Nazimova &Â Arthur Jasmine in Salome (1923, dir. Charles Bryant)
Production designer Natacha Rambova based much of Salome’s decor and costumes on the decadent illustrations Aubrey Beardsley produced for the first edition of Oscar Wilde’s play Salome.
The above still is a recreation of Beardsley’s The Peacock Skirt
