Happy Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is a celebration that takes place at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. The first day of the New Year always falls on the new moon between 21 January and 20 February.

The Chinese Zodiac attributes an animal to each year in the calendar on a twelve-year repeating cycle, and 2020 is the Year of the Rat 🐀 This ink and colour painting of a rat is by Chinese artist and calligrapher Huang Yongyu c. 1984.
