An Open Letter to the AWVT seniors To Mae: A lot of people doubted what you can do. But in your last game, you proved them wrong. They may have underestimated your blocking skills but I believe that those two points you contributed earlier were of great help. You might not be able to get the championship this season but graduating with two championships (even though you've not been part of the lineup last season) is something to be happy and proud about. Thank you, Mae. You have a great life ahead after graduating in the Ateneo. Thank you very much. To Kiwi: You are such an amazing middle blocker and also a utility spiker at some points in the season. Being injured before clearly did not affect your confidence. Just like any other players who came back from an injury, you became even better. I think you would agree if I say that Coach Tai even brought out the best in you. Being the Finals MVP that you were last season, you have clearly proved to us how you've improved. Standing kut not just because of height but also because of your skill! Thank you for staying here in the Philippines and helping Ateneo make a cinderella run in Season 76 and a sweep in Season 77. Although you were not able to savor the championship this season, you will always be a champion in our hearts. To Alyssa: Who could ever surpass the greatness this girl has brought not just in the Ateneo but also in the whole Philippine volleyball in general? Everybody adores you not just because of your awesomeness in volleyball but also because of your humility. Some people wonder if you're even a person because pf what you've got. Perfect package as what they say. Five finals appearances, four-time best scorer, three-time Season's MVP, two-time best server, and one-time Finals MVP. And above all those individual awards are the two championships she and the team gave their school. Phenom. Our phenom no matter what happens. You are the one. (So can we request Jersey No. 2 to be retired? I think nobody would try to argue why.) Thank you, Alyssa for leading the way towards two championships. Allow me to share with you my first Ateneo-La Salle match experience. I was standing on the DLSU side. There were a lot of DLSU supporters around me and in the specific area where I was, I was the lone ADMU supporter. The first set was a bit shaky for the Lady Eagles so all of them were cheering for the opponent. It was really challenging at first to show my support for the team because it felt really awkward to shout and cheer for them alone. But I proceeded anyway. The succeeding sets were, gladly, on our side. I did not care anymore even if I was the only ADMU supporter because it felt really good to witness your team fly high and score every point in the best way possible. The loud cheer of the crowd was a pain in the head but an uplifting feeling in the heart. But above all, this is something really worth-treasuring. I learned that as a fan, no matter how large the opponent's crowd around you may be, you will continue to stand by your team because you committed to support them from the start. Lady Eagles, we can do this! Who says our floor defense can't be fixed? If we will continue to work together, the 3-peat we are aiming for will be achieved. There's no stopping, okay? Heart strong! 💙 "Win or lose, it's the school we choose." But this time, we won. I hope we can continue the winning streak up until the end of the season. We believe in you, Lady Eagles!
