“You’re getting awfully concerned about this.” Nathaniel answered with a little laugh. “But I’m sure you are fun, Lou. Look you can’t be any worse than me if that’s any help.”

“Agreed,” she nodded before reaching a hand into a nearby bowl that was on the bar, “And finish some of these complimentary peanuts. They’re free after all.”

Arden groaned slightly. “How does one pick up people? How do I acquire that skill?”

“Maybe, but it surprises me that you seem to think you are going to be the one to teach me about it.”

“I see. I guess I have yet to experience all that.” Nathaniel teased lightly, a little chuckle falling from his lips.

“At this point I’m not too sure. Should we ditch this place or something?”

That was something that Nathaniel couldn’t argue. “Comes from being used to not being able to show them I guess.” It’d been years since he’d really had anyone to open up to and it wasn’t proving easy now that he was in the ‘real world’ of sorts. “What do they describe drinking with you as then?”

“I didn’t realise it would come as that much of a surprise.” Nathaniel answered.

“I’m obviously biased but I think the drinks I whip up at my bar are much better,” Valeria replied after taking another sip of the drink. “You’re entitled to your own opinions of course but I’ll be totally offended if you don’t agree,” she teased.

“Pastries are always included with the coffee,” she winked at him. “Are we staying in or grabbing everything to go?”

“I wouldn’t know. I feel like it could be dubious at best though.” Nathaniel answered with a bit of a laugh.

They were already several drinks in and Nathaniel was swallowing what was left of the one he had as he called the bartender over again. “You know… I didn’t see this coming. I feel like this is going to be a downward spiral.” He admitted with a chuckle, not seeming all that concerned though.

Camille smiled when she noticed who was standing behind her. “Hi you,” she leaned a little closer to him when Louis kissed cheek. “I’m not going to say no to a coffee. If I buy the pastries,” she added.

Thana nodded as he explained the forms. “Right, that seems like a lot of dead trees waiting to happen.” She joked. “How do you like it?” She asked.

Thana bit her knuckle as she thought it over. She’d love to adopt, but she didn’t really know if the mansion allowed it, not to mention her only pet experience had been with a skeleton dog she’d raised for a little bit as someone to keep her company before she decided to come here. “What are the qualifications to volunteer?” She asked.

Camille had to be daydreaming as she didn’t notice when the line in the coffee shop moved until someone tapped her on the shoulder. “Oh sorry, I didn’t notice,” she told the other, taking a few steps towards the counter.

“Louis hey– I brought some fries from the bar and–,” Valeria stopped shaking the bag of food to double-take Louis’ expression. “You seem incredibly chipper today. What’s the occasion?” she asked with a curious grin.
