      “I’m a princess, not a puzzle on the back of a cereal box.”

“Tell that to the majority of the princesses I’ve met. And the female population as a whole. You can seem like a puzzle on the back of a cereal box.”

Her slender fingers wrapped around his wrist slowly as she pulled him down to sit on the bed. “I’ll get them.” And so she did, smirking slowly. “I’ve seen enough of your good manners, my prince. I wonder if you’ve picked up new tricks since I last saw you. Maybe some new lines?” Soon she returned to the bed with two scotch glasses. “I guess I could let you be the gentlemen and try to impress me one more time. Pour me a drink.”

Louis let her pull him down on the bed, taking a seat. “Some new lines? Let me think?” A smirk graced his face as he mused over her question. “How about ‘Tu es une fille en or’ - ‘You are a girl as precious as gold’. Or maybe ‘Mon amour pour toi est infini’ - ‘My love for you is endless’. Which one do you like better?” Taking the glasses, Louis carefully put them on the bedside table as he poured down the alcohol. “But you know, I have plenty of time to learn even more and better lines.”

“ louis, my love, you’ve forgotten that i’m a glass half-empty kind of girl. alas, i suppose i can make do with just the scotch for now – but you’re going to have to make up for it with some stellar company, okay ? ”

“My company is the best company, ma chérie. I haven’t seen you in a while though. So glad you could finally join us. Perhaps the scotch would make it easier for you to share even the juicy bits about your latest adventures.”

“ hello ! hello ? —- oh my god, you would not believe the day i’ve had. i feel like a helpless little p r i n c e s s in need of poptarts and scotch – care to help ? ”

“I don’t have poptarts, but I do have scotch.”

“Good to know some things never change.” Scar opened the drawer and pulled out a bottle. “Jackie Daniels, my precious. –If you want something else, I dare you to find the liquor cabinet.”

“How can it ever change, ma chérie? You get prettier every day.” He smiled in her direction and walked up to her, intending to help her with the bottle and glasses. “I’m too lazy to search for anything else. I’ll take it. But where do you keep the glasses? I feel like this is the time to show my good manners and pour down the drinks for both of us. Like a true gentleman and a prince.”

“Making you? Oh, but I don’t recall doing anything.” Scarlett grinned quietly and sat up on the bed. “Close the door. Do you want a drink?”

“You, sitting there, being gorgeous and all.” He winked at her, before following her suggestion and closing the door. “Maybe. What do you have?”

       “If I wanted anything from you other than help picking out a sweater, you wouldn’t have to read between the lines. You’d just know.”

 “But you are a princess - not expected to be so direct.”

“Did you just compare yourself to a fucking horse?” Lorcan chuckled, patting his friend’s shoulder. “You aren’t going to get any with an attitude like that. What ever happened to the concept of respect for human dignity? -Calm down Loulou, keep it in your pants.”

“That’s what they say. Young stallion. It’s better than dirty old man.” He smirked. “I swear I wasn’t making a move on her. There are a lot more appropriate girls around here. Richer, more influential and hotter. Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed.”

“Is it really?”

“It is. But now you’re kind of making me want to prolong my stay.”

“Maybe you just don’t understand women?” She joked lightly, raising her eyebrow in question.

“I understand women. I find myself surrounded by them on a daily basis.”

“But most people tend to act civilly when they meet new people. Which is why I’d say you have an attitude.” Nothing he had said so far would have convinced her otherwise. “So let me get this right: you suddenly pop into the kitchen and make an off comment? While she’s working? And technically you’re her boss. To me it seems like being slightly creepy.”

“That was my version of civility. You and I just have different understandings about the meaning of it. And I didn’t pop into the kitchen in a creepy way. I wanted to check it out, see what everyone was up to and if there was something I might like. I was aiming to break the ice.”

“Damn, she didn’t even want to make you oatmeal? What’d you do to piss her off?

“I made just one harmless joke. It’s not my fault she doesn’t have a sense of humour.”

“I think its because they feel harassed. You do tend to give that dirty old man vibe, mate. Best not do that around the castle Lou, the women here tend to know self defense.”

“Dirty old man vibe? I have always thought I have a rather young stallion vibe. Self defense? They don’t need to be defending themselves from me. I’m harmless. And each one the women? Princesses? That woman should have known better. With or without sexual frustration, I only fuck princesses.”

She rolled her eyes, typical royal. “She probably has. She just has gotten sick of your attitude. It’s probabyl a pretty common one around here. That’s my bet.” Onerva set down he pen and directed her attention properly at him. This was a well-deserved break. “What exactly did you joke about?”

“This is no attitude. She doesn’t know me and can’t take a joke. But that’s all right, she’ll know from now on.” A smile spread across the corners of his lips. “I just showed up to her and asked her what more important thing she had been wasting her time with, more important than focusing on me. I was laughing, I swear. It was obviously just a playful remark.”

“Why do we always seem to meet during a time where women seem to feel the need to attack you in some form?”

“It is a common occurrence. Some of them just don’t know how to let out their sexual frustration in a healthy way. ”

“Not necessarily, I admit, plain oatmeal is a bit… bland. Add some berries or cinnamon and it’s great.” Onerva should have known it; she had had one minute oatmeal for breakfast the last three years. Solely because she was not a morning person and had no time to make anything better. “Why should have she expected you to be rude? Why would you even said that with such pride?”

“I have never thought of that before. But then again, I have never even thought of having oatmeal. It’s quite far from my tastes.” Louis rolled his eyes at her question. So she must be one the good ones. “I think she has never actually worked with royals in the past, or important people for that matter. Or she should have known how to handle a little bit of conversation. She lacks a sense of humour. And she’s totally not a good sport.”

“Oatmeal is pretty great: nutrients, it makes you full, it’s cheap and quick…” Onerva listed as she highlighted another line from her text book. “So really you must have been rather rude if she didn’t make you even oatmeal.”

“And it’s also pretty disgusting.” He added. “Or perhaps she was being too sensitive. She should have known what to expect.”
