Toothless's bird mating dance really bothers me, i know a lot of it was based on real things birds do to attract a mate but I think a big issue is that they made it so clumsy. And that they tried to put too many 'dances' in the one scene, it was just weird and out of character for Toothless to make a fool of himself when in the past movies he was the one side eyeing Hiccup for doing dumb things like nearly crashing when showing off his flight suit to Valka
Not only that, but for all we know, Toothless's bird-of-paradise dances were normal and acceptable Night Fury mating dances and, like pretty much everything else he does around the Light Fury, only poorly received because he's not acting like a Light Fury, because he isn't one. Birds-of-paradise certainly don't think their dances are stupid, but oops, better not think about all that because Dean says the reason Toothless doesn't know where babies come from is because Hiccup corrupted him with his disgusting friendship.
The Toothless of httyd 1 and 2 was slick as hell. He was a young adult when he left home, not a baby, and would have at least known enough to imitate the Light Fury's stupid circle prance and to not try and knock her off a branch.
