this theory has two branches in my opinion, in either branch my reasoning from why Kris can exist in the light world is because they have the soul in them

one branch is that after coming out of the bunker Kris was no longer the original Kris. instead being replaced by a vessel meant to look like them.

branch two is more of a question rather than anything else. if dreams/nightmares/opinions can bring objects to life, what happens when someone stops being view as their own person or human at all?

now I don't really plan on expanding on branch one since I feel that one is the most straight forward, and the most likely answer whats going on with Kris. instead lets pier down branch two and see where this question leads us.

So basically I think because Kris is kinda a puppet not only being controlled by the player, but also being puppet by the mayor. Due to this and others viewing Kris as just an extension of their family this is causing them to slowly turn into an actual object. Do I have any proof of this claim, nah not really. Besides their hand being grey in that one scene and the fact that it seems that Kris is really stiff without the soul in their body. There's also the similarities between Spamton g Spamton and Kris, the main difference is that Kris has a soul and can move around the light world and Spamton coveted it.*

also I believe its important to remember Kris not seeing their hand through the shadow crystal, see I wonder if the shadow crystal shows a world where darkners don't exist, and if Kris is a darkner then it would explain why they wouldn't show up through it.

now how could this affect the plot if Kris turns out to be turning into or is a darkner? in my opinion I believe that it probably wouldn't be brought up till the end of the game when the fun gang is sealing the last fountain and Kris ends up either fully turning into an object (in the snow grave route) or through the power of friendship they are able to fully be human again.

I think this would be an epic plot if its real, but I have high doubt if I'm honest. that's about it, hope this inspires someone to write some sick fanfic or something.
