My friend Jenn did this tag on her blog and tagged me, so thank you Jenn! I didn’t know what I wanted to post about today so this is perfect timing. I don’t know who created this tag, but if you do, let me know! Let’s talk about my 2018 reading plans (and yours :P)!
1. An Author You’d Like To Read That You’ve Never Read
There are a lot of authors I’ve never read but nobody really sticks out from the others. A few I’d like to read in 2018: Sebastian de Castell, Jen Wilde, Kristin Cashore, Susan Ee, Julie C. Dao.
2. A Book You’d Like To Read
Uhm, my entire TBR, is that an option? Some examples:
(sidenote: I had no idea this thumbnail grid option actually looked good if you increased the size of the picture. I’m definitely using this more often! I can’t believe this took me over 1.5 years to figure out)
3. A Classic You’d Like To Read
I currently don’t really have any classics on my tbr except To Kill A Mockingbird (which I guess should be considered a classic?). So that’s the one I guess? I’m not even sure I will read it this year or at all but I own it so I probably should give it a shot!
4. A Book You’d Like To Re-Read
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. Whenever I see a reference, fanart, quotes, anything about this duology I want to pick it back up and read it all over. EVERY TIME. (the worst thing is, I’ve been working on SoC art myself so I’m basically torturing myself)
5. A Book You’ve Had For Ages and Want To Read
I feel like I’ve owned The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski for ages and despite the fact that I’ve been told to read it many many times, I’ve yet to pick it up. But 2018 will be the year I read it.
6. A Big Book You’d Like To Read
I was looking through my goodreads shelf and oh my Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is over 600 pages (608 to be exact). This will kill me. Another big book I want to read it Furyborn by Claire Legrand (512pg) of which I have an eARC!
7. An Author You’ve Previously Read and Would Like To Read More Of
Shaun David Hutchinson, V.E. Schwab (I NEED IT ALL), Marie Lu and many more.
8. A Book You Got For Christmas and Would Like To Read
I got for Christmas 4 books and I’m currently reading one, but I really want to challenge myself to read more non-fiction (specifically, pop-science) so I’m going to read Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner. (In case you weren’t aware yet, I’m a geek)
9. A Series You Want To Read From Start to Finish
Depending on how much I love the first book: The Winner’s Trilogy by Marie Rutkoski, Penryn & the End of Days by Susan Ee, The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken.
10. A Series You Want To Finish That You’ve Already Started
I believe Record of A Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers comes out this summer so then I can read the second and third book in this series of standalones! I’ve read The Long Way to A Small Angry Planet a few months ago and really liked it!
11. Do You Set Reading Goals? If So, How Many Books Do You Want To Read in 2018?
I’ve set my reading goal much lower than last year. Last year it was set at 100 and I read 125, this year I want to read 75 books. Because I’ll be starting my master’s and don’t want to pressure myself when it comes to reading, I’ve lowered my goal.
12. Any Other Reading Goals?
Yes! I want to read more pop-science, I want to try and read 1 non-fiction book per month from January to August. It’s already failing a little because I’m only at page 9, I think, of the first. oops.
Which books are on your must-read pile of 2018? What are your reading goals this year? Which authors do you suggest I read this year?
