My muse has been gravely wounded. How does your muse react?
brb following my dreams and ordering a million anthologies.
My muse isnât going to make the night. While trying to make them comfortable, what are your last words to them?
People like you.
âWhat do you mean âPeople like meâ?â Jude demanded, his frown fierce. âIf youâre comparing me to Exodus, youâre wrong! My father may have been a part of it at one point, but Iâve had nothing to do with them!â Except tear them down.
He ignored the wyvernâalone it wouldnât be too hard to beat. But if Ivar joined inâŚ.Jude would probably have troubleâŚ.
But he had mentioned spyrix: Jude bit his lip at that. âMy research does not involve spyrix! What part of âwonât harm spiritsâ donât you get? Theyâre made from a combination of boosters and spirit fossilsâRight now, the only person they harm is the person using them!â He crossed his arms. His eyes flicked to the wyvern, taking in where it stood. Perhaps he should keep an eye on it after all. âThe spyrites arenât complete; but thatâs why we need information on Kresnik! It may hold the secretâ!â
Perhaps, but Jude also had other reasons to learn about Kresnik.
Ludger and the Fractured Dimensions.
"And Iâd like to see them try." Jude muttered under his breath.
"Shut up."
It all flies right over his head. Ivar bares his teeth in a feral gesture before seemingly deciding this just wasn't worth his time. Let the monsters eat him. Let him be lost in the swamp forever. It wasn't as if he'd be sorely missed, if he was involved with that lot. Worrisome as it was that anyone from Exodus survived, it was...
It was no longer his problem.
"Fine, go, whatever. Let the spirits kill you," he's walking backwards in easy, measured steps.Â
"Here's a tip, though, since I'm so nice to your ungrateful, whiny ass - mention spywhatsits of any sort within earshot of that town and you'll be dead before you know it." Ivar jerks a thumb in the direction of the city. "Go that way, try not to drown. You're not my problem anymore."
Jude jerked back.
While this was the typical reaction Ivar usually had towards him, it was clear that Ivar didnât know him hereâOr else he would have been yelling at him from the start. But Judeâs pride, which hardly showed itself, was irritated with Ivarâs claim.
Jude didnât have a death wish; and even if he did, he was fairly sure heâd be able to get through it alright. He and the others did manage to fight MuzĂŠt and Gaius at the same time and not only survived, but won.
âIâm a researcher trying to save this world!â Jude snapped, getting into the moment. âThere are people out there that canât use spirit artesâwhoâll become angry and treat those of us that can like weâre monsters. My researchâItâll let them use spirit artes without harming spirits! And if I can find more information to finish itâŚThen I will!â
People who can't use spirit artes. Killing spirits.
Ivar feels something akin to hysteria rising. A horrible, terrible laugh ready to bubble to the surface - on top of all of this, was this an Exodus survivor? He had been a child at the time, scarcely two when they had been defeated, but he had been told of it. These things were to be committed to memory and saved.
Now the wyvern is moving from their cave, growling low. Ivar rounds on the stranger, bristling.
"Do you realize who lives in Nia Khera, and what they think of people like that? I'm trying to do you a favor, you ingrate! Go to the Xian Du river and go up and don't look back, don't ever breathe a word about not being able to use spirit artes, and destroy those spyrixes before they find out and try to destroy you!"

"A research team?" Ivar wrinkles his nose, a doubtful expression clouding dirty features. It was common enough, and they all seemed to lack common sense. Ivar stares him down for a long moment, debating, and finally the excuse is accepted.
He has seen enough wandering scientists to know how useless they are outside their labs. Scratching underneath his nose, he hops up on one of the rock outcroppings, taking a look around to figure out just how far this poor sop had wandered. It was possible he was from Nia Khera, but it was far more likely heâd been sent down the river from Xian Du.
"Fine," he folds his arms, "I can lead you back to the river. After that, youâre on your own."
-
âAhâŚâ Jude frowned. Why did he feel like that was a bad idea? Sure, he could just call Rowen or one of the others to find out where they are butâŚThe researcher shook his head lightly.
No, that was a bad idea. From the looks of things, the schism was still aroundâor else Ivar would probably be working for Spirius Corporation. If the schism was still up, then people would probably panic if they saw someone talking into a âboxâ and hearing someone elseâs voice come from it. Plus, if Exodus was around, Jude might just get abducted.
Yeah, no thanks.
Jude shook his head. âI need to get to Nia Khera.â For whatever reason, that seemed like where his friends might be. âWe were researchingâresearching Kresnik the Genesis Sage. So, we were making our way to Nia Khera before I woke up here alone.â
The researcher turned to look up at Ivar. âYou can just show me the path: I can fine my way to Nia Khera from there.â
Ordinarily, it would be no problem to lead a stranger to Nia Khera. They would restock their supplies and move on, and it was really as simple as that.  There was no reason to tarry there, no attraction for tourists... but, with that reason, at that place.
"You're doing what and where?!"
Ivar nearly looses his footing on the rock. There's a sudden cold thrill through him, it hits shortly after he wonders if this intruder might have had some sort of terrible head injury. He gives a shake of his head, hopping down from the surface and giving the boy (whom he has already deemed to be scrawny, lacking direction, and definitely not worth his time) and folds his arms.
"Do you have a death wish? Not only is that information sacred, it's also forbidden to talk about! What kind of a researcher are you?"
Send me a ă if you like the way I portray my muse
Jude cracked only a small smile at Ivarâs words, shaking his head. The boy was awfully cagey, but he supposed it was expected of a hermit. What would possess a teenaged boy to go live out his life in such an inhospitable environment was beyond Jude, but not completely illogical. After all, he had ran away from his own comfortable home in Laronde to attend medical school.
The medic shook away the thought, not wanting to linger on things of the past. Although his father was killed when he was only a child, Jude still knew that medicine was in his blood; no matter how much his mother protested. Those things were behind him now.
"Well, we donât usually keep monsters as commonly as you folks in Auj Oule do. With us non-beastcraft users, some things can get lost in translation." He said with a small, resigned smile. The other boy was haughty, that was for sure. But still, Jude could sense a feeling of stagnancy surrounding him; something cold that brewed beneath his fiery and indignant surface.
Something lonely.
"But, you donât have any family waiting there? Inns in Fenmont are expensive this time of year, are you sure youâll be okay?" He said, trying to keep too much concern from melting into his voice. He had always been teased for his do-gooding nature, but once he found a problem it was difficult for him to leave it unresolved. Meddling, it seemed, was one of the only things Jude felt he was really good at.
"Please, I don't need your sympathy," Ivar rolled his eyes, glancing skyward and seemingly appealing to the spirits for strength to deal with this goodie-two-shoes.dogging his every step with concern. "I don't have family. I'll be on my own, and that suits me just fine. Unlike you softies, I can actually take what mother nature decides to throw at me."
Which was perhaps an admission that he had no intention of ever setting foot inside Fennmont proper. Arkland Quag seemed an ideal place to live, and if not there, then certainly Fezebel Marsh would suffice. It wasn't as though he wasn't already used to living in swampy and inhospitable conditions, it would be just like home.
"Try to take some guards with you next time."
Jude was wary. The monsters had seemed almostâŚpassive. Worriedly, he had stopped by a stick-like tree not too far from where he had woken up. Why were the monsters, which he could see out of the corner of his eyes, staying away?
Pursing his lips, he pushed himself away from the tree, ready to keep goingâwhen he heard that voice. Jude automatically turned toward the speaker, expecting him to start spewing âphonyâ and âyouâre no goodâ as soon as he didâInstead, he got a simple question (Granted, it had âyou idiotâ attached to it) .
What do you think youâre doing here?
Well, that was the question of the week, wasnât it? Jude scratched the back of his neck, somewhat wary. âErâŚWhy am I hereâŚ?â
Jude paused.
Great, he had no choice but to take a page out of Alvinâs book.
âIâm part of a small research team.â Jude explained. âIâŚgot separated somehow. All I remember is that I was with them one minute and the next I was waking up here.â He comforted himself with the thought that he wasnât entirely lying. Jude had gotten separated and he was a part of a small teamâjust that team wasnât a research team.
At least he hadnât blurted out anything about fractured dimensions. That would guarantee a sword to his gut.
"A research team?" Ivar wrinkles his nose, a doubtful expression clouding dirty features. It was common enough, and they all seemed to lack common sense. Ivar stares him down for a long moment, debating, and finally the excuse is accepted.

My muse has recently been in an accident that has left them blind. Send me â for what they would say to yours when our muses meet next.
âRight and what makes you so important squirt? Because you really donât look      like youâre anything special,â Alvin stood with arms crossed over his chest,          eyebrow raised in amusement.
Great.
Ivar digs his nails into his elbows, teeth biting hard into his cheek. Be cool, be cool. Don't let this guy get to you.
"I'm the emissary from Sharilton, if you must know. And I have vital information that concerns the very fate of the world!! Now hurry up and get him!"
