We always talk about Keiji melting with love when he sees Koutarou interacting with kids. But what about the opposite?
Imagine Keiji attending a Bokuto family gathering, and one of Kou’s nieces immediately latches on to him.
She’s soft-spoken, just like him, and loves reading. They bond. At one point, Koutarou looks over to see them huddled in the corner. She’s on Keiji’s lap, snuggling into his chest as he reads her a story in a quiet voice.
Koutarou has always liked kids, loves hanging out with them and being a good role model. But seeing the man he loves with his niece… it solidifies everything.
It will be a while before it’s a reality. They’re both relatively young, still figuring themselves and their relationship out. They have a lot to accomplish, both personally and professionally, before they can dedicate their lives to raising someone.
But now he knows for sure. He wants it. Someday, he and Keiji will have a child. Together.
Keiji looks up from the storybook, and their eyes lock. Koutarou realizes he probably looks insane: standing there, an empty champagne flute limp in his hand, mouth open, eyes wide.
But Keiji just smiles. It’s barely-there, just a slight tug on one side of his lips, keen eyes crinkling slightly.
The moment lasts only a few seconds before Kou’s niece is demanding more reading, and Keiji breaks their gaze. But there’s no mistaking.
“Wow,” Koutarou breathes, as his future finally settles itself before his very eyes. “My life is going to be even more awesome.”
