Buddy’s timeline was originally a ‘Red Timeline’. The Gaster, ‘Dingy’ had caught onto the concept of the multiverse early, and in order to ensure the survival of the monsters, artificially tried to force the timeline to resemble a ‘Blue Timeline’ with the reluctant support of his grieving King.
This resulted in, but limited to:
-Exacutions
-Re-Education Camps
-Lobotomies
-Secret Police
-Corrective Surgery (Where a monsters teeth is filed down to appear less threatening, for example)
-A dress code
And this worked. A little too well. The entire timeline became unrecognizable, and oozed a sugar sweet wholesome vibe, just so long as you didn’t look too closely.
Sans, completely indoctrinated in the mindset, was terrified of the idea of a human falling and still deciding that they were still not good enough. After all, humans in other timelines, still killed monsters that were considered ‘Blue’.
So when the human did fall, Sans secretly ported them away to a dead timeline. No human, Resets, no Ending of any kind. The monsters would just continue to prepare for an event that’ll never come.
One day, the CORE had a malfunction. Gaster, (Dingy), sacrificed himself to keep it from blowing up. Effectively, becoming lost to the Void as a result.
Without Gaster around, Sans grew to question more and more about their way of life. And with his boyfriend, “Sharky”’s help, they worked slowly in relaxing the laws that’d had such an iron grip on their people.
Gaster, meanwhile, worked himself in a state of madness in trying to find some way to return back to his timeline. To exist and resume his old life. He figured, that triggering the ‘Human Event’ would do the trick. Force his way in during a reset.
But Buddy had removed the human from the time.
So the ‘Human Event’ as a result, became corrupted…
