going through old stuff in the basement. Boxes of notes and letters I haven’t read in years. I find one from my first love, saying he saw me as the mother of his children. How strange is it to read those words as I’m about to become a mother, with a father so completely different than him. I could have never really imagined this future I’m living in now but I’m going to make the most of it.

I’ve felt like hiding myself and I’m not sure why. Seems odd to be open online, except here where everything feels anonymous and personal still. Elsewhere, I don’t even think I’d like most people to know I’m pregnant. I think this is because “most people” are strangers to me now, friends and lovers past, acquaintances, coworkers, people I’ve never even met.

Finally it feels ok to live my life just for me.
