Info dump about Lorenz’ personality I found
Unlike most people, Lorenz doesn’t hide his opinions and concerns. He actually addresses them directly (Claude the fraud moment). He doesn’t pretend to be unaffected, but instead, he acts in a way that clearly demonstrates them. Which isn’t a bad nor a good thing, as it shows that he's an effective communicator and values honesty and transparency when it comes to interacting with others. Buuut at the same time, he usually comes off as a rude jerk. He doesn’t always intend to offend others, like when he realizes he has unintentionally done so, he feels very guilty. He willingly apologizes without hesitation, taking full responsibility for his mistake. Like in his Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes support chain with Annette, he fully admits to his mistake and apologizes (HA THIS SUPPORT CONVO WAS SO FUNNY THO). This only applies when he realizes he actually did something wrong, though. If he believes he is completely right, he won’t apologize and will stand by his comments and actions. This shows his determination to defend his beliefs until he realizes he is in the wrong. He isn’t easily persuaded!
A few things Lorenz enjoys doing in his free time is writing poetry, tea, (I bet he actually knows how to play a lot of instruments since he’s a classy noble) and he’s also quite fond of singing! (“MmmmimimimiMIIIIIIIIIIII–aaACKHACKCOUGHCOUGH clears throat Hm, there appears to be something wrong with my throat.” /ref) O k now I’m gonna move onto his nobility impact on his life. Since he was a wittle babeh, he was raised with a singular message: your life is not your own. It belongs to your house, your people, and the future stability of the Alliance. When he boasts about his lineage, it’s not just ego (although it’s mainly ego lol). It’s because he feels a huge responsibility. He thinks everything he does affects the future of the Alliance. It’s years of “you carry the future of our family on your shoulders” drilled into him (I’m not justifying his annoying behavior I’m just saying that the way you’re raised definitely impacts how your personality is). Lorenz starts from a traditional stance that nobles exist to protect and guide commoners, and in return deserve respect, he said this in Fire Emblem Heroes. But through conversations with characters in supports, he comes to understand true leadership requires collaboration. Nobles shouldn’t just stand above the people, but alongside them. It’s about cooperation. He starts to understand that nobles and commoners should work together instead of being separated. That’s a huge shift for him! He doesn’t abandon his belief in duty, he just expands it and starts rethinking a lot of what he was taught.
A lot of his early behavior, especially the nonstop dinner invites to every girl in sight, comes from how he views marriage. And his lame attempts at finding a wife are, in his mind, part of his duty. It’s less “I’m desperate” and more “I have been told since childhood that I must secure a politically beneficial marriage immediately.” Even though it sure as heck looks like he’s desperate WHICH IS WHY THE REJECTION FROM EVERYONE IS SO FUNNY (everyone but me~) He’s been taught that his future wife has to strengthen House Gloucester. Personality and compatibility matter to him, sure, but social status is the final deciding factor. In several of his support conversations, he admits that even if he were to fall deeply in love with a commoner, he would force himself to suppress those feelings for the sake of his house. My poor shweetie… that’s pressure, not romance! It’s not just about his future wife’s family gaining something from being associated with House Gloucester, his own house must also benefit. This shows the huge amount of responsibility Lorenz feels and his unwavering commitment to doing everything he can to benefit his own house, even if it compromises his own bappiness. And this is aaaall because his daddio taught him that. Oh my GOSH I WANNA KNOW MORE INTEL OF HIS CHILDHOOD LIFE!!!
Over time, his view softens. He begins to question whether sacrificing personal bappiness is actually the right sensible thing to do. He eventually realizes that a partnership built on genuine compatibility may strengthen his house more than a cold political arrangement ever could. The heir who once measured affection in noble titles learns to value the person before the pedigree. Awwwww my wittle baby is growing up!!! After the timeskip, he’s noticeably more mature. He’s calmer, more thoughtful, and even willing to argue against his father’s views if he thinks change is necessary. He still cares about his house and the Alliance, but he’s learned that strict tradition isn’t always the best path forward. Imagine if he was raised differently. So yeah, Lorenz starts off seeming like an annoying, overly proud noble with a dumb haircut, but once you actually get to dig deeper and know him, he’s just someone who feels a lot of pressure to do the right thing for his people. He grows. He humbles himself. He questions what he was taught. He learns to value individuals over status. At the same time though he’s still arrogant. Of course he is, that’s literally the way he is! There’s no changing that!
Lorenz was purposely designed to make you dislike him at first (I always liked him as a character even from the beginning). But as you can see, he matures big time. He doesn’t just stick to his prior beliefs, rather, he listens to reason. So if someone were to truly see behind his flamboyant personality, they’d come to realize that Lorenz is amazing company. Whiiiiich is why all of this information is VERY important to me, because when it comes to Lorenz, I am always ready to stand with him. Aaaand plus I need this info dump for my fanfiction I’m writing. This will be very helpful, as I wanna learn EVERYTHING about Lorenz… as a character, his personality, and just in general! You can tell I am very dedicated to my work, I literally scout the internet for anything Lorenz related! Heck, I have a Pinterest board with THOUSANDS of pins of fanart! Eeyup, I am down bad. It’s not just one sided though! If you actually went inside my imagination, you’d see a full on story of us… that’s delusional on the next level. LEMME BE DELULU O K?! Which is why I am desperate to know alot about him, that way my fanfiction isn’t inaccurate at all! Cause I hate it when I read stuff and the person isn’t even in character. Some say Lorenz would be a yandere and controlling husband, but NO?? This is a completely different topic though. Maaaaaybe I’ll talk about his role as my husband and how he acts, but for now I’ll conclude it here.
