Her fake-shock turns into fake-dismay as Lorelai completely shuts her down. It isn't even that hard to act disappointed in this case. The thought of not seeing her sister wearing that dress is a huge letdown.

Until then she was an unwitting pawn in a game she didn't even know she was playing.

"Exactly." said Lorelai, laser focused on the point that Lemie had just made. It was her only wedding ever. "Would you really want me wearing that, looking uncomfortable, ruining all of your wedding pictures?" Lorelai wasn't above begging but maybe she could convince Lemie another way.

Either that or Lori simply didn't want to talk to her.

The worst part was that she couldn't even blame her if it was the latter, after the stunt she'd pulled just days before. This being the first stop on her apology tour, she hadn't even had a chance yet to clear things up with Atlas about what happened on New Year's; part of Cricket wonders if she maybe should've done so before attempting to talk to Lori, and if her not answering the door was actually an opportunity to go and do so, but before she could decide whether or not to knock again or try and track down her cousin, the muffled sound of Lori's response through the door confirmed her presence on the other side of it.

"No, yeah, I so get that. I won't be long, I just--" Cricket startled as the door opened just a crack, barely any of Lori's blonde head poked through. She thinks this might just be the closest they'd been in over a month, and it's this thought that encourages her to keep going instead of shrinking back. "I wanted to apologize. I need to apologize--for how I've been acting for, like, the last few months, but especially for New Year's."

"Telling Atlas about you and Mack...it was so shitty of me. And like I told myself that I was only doing it because he had a right to know and I was just trying to protect him because he's family, which isn't not true but that obviously wasn't why I did it that night. Everyone was just so happy and having a good time and I wasn't so I tried to bring you all down with me and I hate that I did that...but what I really hate is that I did that to you, and I'm just...I'm really sorry, Lor. Really, really sorry."

Apologize? Lorelai's brows scrunch together, had she misheard? Nope, she realises, as Cricket continues. Lorelai bristled at the mention of New Year's and what had happened that night, what Cricket had accused her of after Lorelai had thought they had put that jealousy over her friendship with Mack to bed.

"Shitty?" Lorelai questioned, incredulous. "It was fucked up, Cricket." There was no anger in her voice, none of her usual venom when somebody had wronged her. Lorelai wasn't angry, she was hurt. "How could you think I'd ever hook up with Mack again after I promised you it was over between us and anything that happened between us was in the past?" She glances up and down the hallway in case Chloe was lurking nearby. If there was one thing worse than fighting with Cricket it was their annoying roommate knowing about it.

A sigh escapes her lips and she opens the door, stepping backwards to allow Cricket to step inside. "Come in before you know who hears and we're subjected to another three hour apartment meeting about attitude, behaviour and nurturing a safe space for everybody." Lorelai released a huff with a roll of her eyes, closing the door behind Cricket.
