“Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant, filled with odd waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don’t always like.” My A Series of Unfortunate Events card assignment was Lemony Snicket as the Wheel of Fortune! As a traditional artist I tried to emulate one of my favorite styles: the cross-hatching/etching work seen in Punch magazines, a satirical publication established in the 1840s. I painted in color with coffee and…man…I need y’all to understand how small all those news clippings are.
