This bun is basically a mixture of the braided bun and the messy bun. It’s fairly simple and it takes about ten minutes to do. You can do it yourself since it doesn’t have to be neat and sleek.
You’re going to need: three hair ties, a few bobby pins/hair grips, hairspray.
First of all, you want to get your hair up in a ponytail. I tend to make it a high one, ballerina style. It doesn’t have to be perfect and your hair can be either freshly washed or three-day hair. I find it holds better when I haven’t washed it for two days. (Yes, you don’t have to wash it everyday!)
Now, you divide your pony into three sections as you’re going to plat/braid your ponytail. It really doesn’t have to be the prettiest braid you’ve ever done, after all this is a messy look.
Once that’s done, you’re going to wrap the braid around into a bun and grip it in place. If you want a messier look, pull bits and pieces from the braid and secure them down a bit with your bobby pins.
Pull on the roots of your hair to give your bun volume and an even messier look. I also like to pull little bits of hair out around my face and straighten them a bit (since those happen to be quite curly on me).
There you go, a braided messy bun!
