Closed to @quiet-or-die ā āNo Saving Preyerā
Koku was back at it again. Violin work has been much slower than usual, so it gave him more time to find new kills. Today wasnāt a murder for this person, though. Koku needed a strong understanding of what his life was like. So, in disguise, he began to quietly watch his soon-to-be victim.
Everything seemed normal, but he knew he could find something to justify his murderāpeople who haunt the same dark places as him arenāt usually trustworthy. So, patiently, he waited for a slip-up from the nameless stranger.
Koku nods, and smiles sheepishly. āSorry about that,ā he says, as sincerely as he can. āIt mustāve been a crazy coincidence, you know? It happens sometimes. I really mean no harm here.ā
Koku moves over towards the person, sitting next to them. He didnāt want to blow his cover, but whatever happens now, murder is out of the question. All he could do was get to know the victim. āSo, whatās your name?ā
No harm . . . yet. Sanzo shoots him a dry look at theĀ ācoincidenceā comment. Like hell heāll believe that. Heās experienced all sorts of crazy things but ācoincidencesā are normally staged and planned.
Letting a maybe-murderer or even a definitely-murderer follow him around is one thing, an interrogation is another. He did not agree to this. Still, he supposes that he shouldāve expected the guy would want a conversation.
He holds up three fingers.Ā āThree. Thatās all Iāll answer today.ā One finger bends down.Ā āSanzo Genjo, the 31st of China.ā
Koku frowns, almost in an uncharacteristic pout. āā¦Really?ā He asks. āI donāt think thatās really a good decision, if I may say so myself.ā
āAndā¦I saw that look. If the word ācoincidenceā doesnāt suit you, how about fate? Iām not a big fan of the word, but it suits me just fine if it suits you.ā
