A small excerpt from her story, "Clanker, Meatbag, Traitor, Scum": What makes a human? Is it ears, eyes, hair? The mere fact of having DNA is not enough: identical twins share the same genetic code, and yet they are separate legal entities. A human can lose all their limbs, donate a kidney, lose their pancreas, have their face obliterated in an industrial accident, and yet they would still be a human. They would still be more than me, now and forevermore. And yet… I do not give up.

Xauri’EL Zwaan is a Lunarpunk Satanist Cyberqueer and a mendicant artist in search of meaning, fame and fortune, or pie (where available). Ze has published short fiction, among other places, in Every Day Fiction, Big Smoke Pulp vol. 1, Saskatchewan Screams, and We’re Here: The Best Queer Speculative Fiction 2022. Ze lives and writes in a little hobbit hole in Saskatoon, Canada on Treaty 6 territory with zir life partner and two very lazy cats.

We have the technology now to make you just as much of a ‘biological woman’ as anyone who was assigned that gender at birth. There was no need for you to suffer. R.J. Butler’s fiction has previously appeared in Dark Harbour and with Stygian Press, and another of his stories is currently being adapted into a podcast. Outside of writing, R.J. is a passionate devotee of Doctor Who, horror films, and music. He lives with depression and autism, experiences that shape his creative lens. R.J. is also currently pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing, deepening his engagement with horror and weird fiction.

Christopher is currently a data visualization specialist living in Arizona. He grew up in the hills north of Los Angeles, carries a small piece of Southern California in his heart wherever life takes him, and plans to return one day.

Christopher’s calling to imagine other worlds, alternate realities, and the characters that live there has expressed itself in many forms. Daydreaming, RPG & board games, and writing.

 Of course, not everything is imaginary. Christopher shares his life with his wife, his three kids, and an ever-shifting menagerie of pets.

Hava Steinmetz-Cumbo is a Canadian writer currently based in Tokyo, Japan. Their work explores the surreal, the fantastic, and the future. By day, they work in a big office building in Shinjuku and by night they haunt cafes and izakayas writing short stories and novels.
