“BEING a mother probably does that to someone. You’re kind of forced to grow up fast and be the adult for someone who’s depending on you.” Her mother had been young when she’d had her so she could relate in some type of way. “I’ve been around long enough to know, baby girl.” She said with a curious look. “That’s good. Glad you could let loose.” 

“Uh, yeah....it kind of does force you to grow up and it puts shit into perspective real quick,” she awkwardly spoke. She didn’t know how else to word her response, not wanting to look too uncomfortable with her bod language and such. “Thanks, I feel like a lot of people needed the other night to forget about shit, myself included.”

YASMINE felt that in her bones, but she wished she could drink the same as she could when she was twenty-one, much less when she was sixteen. “It’s only downhill from where so I’d embrace the hangover and how quick your body can jump bag. After twenty five, there’s not much to look forward to.” Maybe she was a little dramatic but she had felt a significant different from twenty one to her current age. “Yeah, everyone was on edge but it was good. Yourself?”

“That’s what I’ve been told. I’m only 22 but feel like I’ve lived a lifetime,” Aurora frowns. Hell, she fucking has. She didn’t know how much she could handle at this point. “I promise those kind of parties aren’t normally that.....chaotic. A lot of shit has been happening so that’s probably why. But yeah, I had a pretty decent time.”

She grinned, nodding her head as she listened to her. “Thanks. So you’re a regular?” She inquired, tilting her head. Stassie was on a mission to get to know Olympus better and as a foodie herself, she was in pursuit for the best breakfast place. “It’s my first time here but I already know I prefer my coffee at home or Mama Kay’s,” she admitted with a sheepish smile. “Coffee is very important in my life.”

“I guess you could say so? I’m maybe here every two weeks, depending on what I’m feeling,” she replied with a shrug as she took another sip from her coffee. She couldn’t help but let out a chuckle as the older woman mentioned Mama Kay’s. “So, you like their stuff better there? Next time you’re there, ask for Aurora. I’ve been told she’s one hell of a waitress.” 

She needed to escape the same four walls she felt trapped in every day, finding new spots around Olympus to bring her work to. She was officially that person that was surrounded by a stack of papers, her laptop and multiple coffees. Once her waffles were dropped at her side, she smiled up at the waitress until she noticed the lack of syrup. She looked around, the waitress now nowhere in sight. Shrugging, she slid out of the booth and looked around for the nearest syrup bottle, spotting one by a brunette. Gently walking over, she reached over trying to avoid disrupting her but stopping at the sudden sound of her voice. “Huh? Oh, sorry. I just needed syrup…,” she whispered to her. “Were you using it?”

“Oh, shit....nah. I haven’t gotten my food quite yet,” she admitted. Aurora had only gotten her order in a few minutes ago, so it was going to take some time. The place was pretty busy. She didn’t mind it, she had nothing to do until later that day anyways. “Go ahead, their syrup is amazing. I love dumping a ton on my pancakes.”

SHE must be a stickler for pain. There wasn’t any other reason for her to be prepared to go into work at the Dive. Her head was pounding and she felt like she was running on fumes. When she brushed past Aurora and heard her words, she couldn’t help but nod in agreement. “You and i both. I feel like my head is going to explode.” Once she plopped down beside her, she waved the bartender over for a cup of steaming hot coffee. The red bull she’d gotten earlier was pulled out of her bag, opening it up to take a large sip. “Nothing like a patchover party to remind us all of our age and how hangovers never get easier now.”

Aurora takes another quick sip from her mug and offers a light chuckle at Yasmine’s response. “The bad thing about it is I’m not even that old but shit, I can’t really drink the way I used to when I was fourteen, fifteen years old. Some of the mixtures I’d make for drinks….I’m surprised I’m still here to tell you the stories,” she explained. She sure was a wild child in her youth. “Did you have fun at the party though?”

“I’m finding you someone?” she questions, eyebrows raising. Izzy was both interested and uninterested. Most of her focus was on herself rather than the other woman but its intriguing to set someone up. “Pretty sure that you know your tastes better than I would, baby,” she insists, looking around to find someone with potential. There was a lot of fresh meat these days. “I’ve seen a whole lot more of it than you’d think,” Izzy shrugs, not really caring about it anymore. Not unless it’s someone she loves.

“I don’t even know what my taste is anymore, honestly. Really anybody who isn’t going to treat me like shit,” she shrugged. “I only seem to attract emotionally unavailable, cheating men. But, maybe my time will come,” she admitted as she took another long sip from her beer, finishing it off. “We could probably trade stories all night about living a life like this, but that would just be depressing. We’re all here to have a good time.”

Hangovers were always a bitch. By now, Aurora thought that she knew how to not over push herself to feel like shit the next day. But, it was a patch over party after all and the drinks kept on flowing throughout the evening. She found herself at Little Dove Diner, in desperate need of one of her favorite hangover meals. Double stack of blueberry pancakes with extra whipped cream, a side of bacon, and a hot cup of coffee. She was waiting for her order when she noticed someone she knew walk by her. “If you’re going to talk to me, please do it softly....my head is pounding,” she admitted.

“Let loose, girl. Jeez, let yourself be like fun,” she shrugs. At her age, Izzy was partying it up and creating times she wouldn’t dare remember but she knew that she was having plenty of sex for the two of them. Then again, Aurora’s time is now. She should be enjoying it and bringing herself out of her funk or something like that. Izzy never lost a daughter, it was probably pretty sad. “Back when I was a Siren, I had a good time tending to all those cuts and bruises,” she says rolling her eyes, thinking back.

“Alright, maybe we can make a little deal. I promise to try and let loose tonight if you can find me a guy who might treat me half decent for a night?” Aurora suggested. Everybody could win something in the end, right? “You didn’t mind all the blood and shit? Guess you really can’t get sick over it when you live in a world like this.”

A party like this is just the icing on top of the whirlwind that’s been Reina’s life lately. In two days time she’d gone from shacking up in a shoebox with the man she’d been having an affair with who somehow became her boyfriend, to now moving all of her shit into another man’s home thanks to her rash decision making. She knows it’s fast and she knows she’s being manic, to say the least, but the temptation had been too strong for her to turn Otto down. Her fight with Caine had been the last straw, leading her to where she is now — sauntering into the patch over party on Otto’s arm with a rock the size of a quarter on her ring finger, something she’d demanded he get from the jewelry store the day before if they were really going to do this. She hasn’t told anyone about her sudden shift in men but Reina supposes tonight is as good a time as any for the general public to find out she’s suddenly decided to get married to the man sporting a new president’s patch on his chest. Her kids have been dumped with a babysitter despite her daughter’s ongoing health issues, which means Reina has no qualms demanding a gin and tonic from the prospect on bartending duty before she realizes she’s got eyes on her. “Yes, it’s a real diamond,” she says, flashing her ring proudly to the person next to her as if it isn’t actually kind of ugly, but that’s what she gets for getting it on such short notice. “You can stop staring.”

“Wasn’t saying it was fake,” Aurora shrugged her shoulders, letting out a casual chuckle. She didn’t know much about jewelry, but she knew that Reina had a hell of a rock on her finger. “It’s pretty though. I wish the one my ex got me looked as nice as that one, but he proposed when we were sixteen so he didn’t have that kind of money,” the younger girl spoke. Ah, she was in love....one time, many years ago. Too bad that relationship had turned sour too quick.

“Baby, they all waste your time. That’s like part of the fun of it isn’t it?” she tells Aurora. Not that she was probably the one that should be giving advice to anyone about a stable love life or any love life at all… Izzy’s been around the block a time or two. And needless to say, she felt pretty good about where she was now. “That’s a definite. It’ll be fun though. A little adventure for the night or at least a little entertainment. I’m hoping for a big brawl. Like bang! Glass everywhere. Boom, someone just got pushed over a table. Woah! Someone’s knocked out. – That could be fun.”

“I don’t know, I guess so? I’ve never really had flings if I’m being honest with you. Guess that just proves my ex really fucked me up,” she rolls her eyes as she finishes off the rest of her drink. Aurora didn’t know how to just have simple hookups and non-serious relationships. That’s what most people did in their twenties, anyways. “It would be nice to be in the front or maybe second row of it. An MC patch over party normally doesn’t end up well. I remember at mine, some of the new prospects spend like hours trying to clean up after it.”

“Wait a second. You just said I was old enough to order off the senior menu. But now I’m too young to call you a kid?” Wyatt questioned, cocking his head to the side his half grin exposing his teeth as he delighted in having someone’s buttons to push. “So which is it?”

“You keep on avoiding my question, how old are you dude?” she raised a brow. “You keep on going on and on about how I’m so fuckin’ young, I’m just trying to figure out where you fall on the old scale. I’m not quite sure if you can be labeled a boomer, even though you sure as hell act like one,” Aurora joked.

“Then you must be damn good at compartmentalizin’,” Bowie tells Aurora right back, scoffing as they turn away from her. But they stop, facing her again. “Whether you brought ya ass here to grieve or not, you surely projectin’ the shit. I asked you a simple ass question. Baby, I don’t give a fuck if you was swingin’ from the rafters butt ass naked. I don’t want to be in your fuckin’ business. I stopped because your daughter sensed your presence and now she’s trying to come through in an environment not meant for a fuckin’ child,” They go on, their annoyance only rising the longer they stand here with her. It doesn’t help that what they’re saying is true. That energy they first sensed when they first looked at Aurora, reeking of sadness, death, and unbridled innocence? It has Serenity written all over it. And normally, Bowie would feel bad for dropping this information on the mother and speaking like this in the presence of a spirit, especially a child, but they’re irked to their very core. 

She’s projecting things? What the hell was Bowie even talking about? Aurora was far from a spiritual person, something like that she never really gave much thought about. Even though they were probably not meaning any harm, the way they were speaking about her daughter was rubbing her the wrong way. Everything was still too sudden, her wounds were still fresh. She didn’t want to talk about it, she didn’t want to be reminded. Fuck. “Don’t talk about my daughter. You don’t even fucking know her,” she raises her voice, not caring how loud she was getting.

“Calling me old is only something a child would think is insulting. I’m only getting better with age. Like whiskey or wine.” He smirks, amused at how easy it is to get under her skin. “Once again, you’re missing the point of tonight. You’re not looking for love. You’re looking for fun. And there’s a whole new group of people to have fun with.”

“How old are you anyways? I don’t even know if you’re old enough to look down on someone like me and call me a child. She rolls her eyes yet again as she takes another sip of her beer. “Well, I can’t really say I’ll be laying in bed with any of the bastards, at least not anytime soon. Unless I see a fresh face tonight, I’m not sure if I'll have any luck. Not unless I’m as upfront as that damn prospect.”

“I’m sorry, you’ll be twenty-three? So you’ve only been able to buy your own beer for two years. You’re a kid,” Wyatt doubles down. He’d always known she was young but hadn’t pegged her as that young. “Okay so prospects are out. Who do you think’s in your league, babe? Point me in the right direction,” he scans the crowd, trying to see if he can predict what she’s after. “Whole room full’a dicks. Pick one and hop on it.”

“Oh, screw you. At least I’m not a few years shy from being able to order off the senior’s menu,” she replied back with a roll of her eyes. The whole ‘young’ joke was always going to be thrown towards her and it was getting old at this point. “I’m not sure yet. The only guy I’ve talked to tonight has been you and that little pipsqueak. The night is still young. Who knows, maybe I’ll find my true love,” she says sarcastically.
