Updates!!

2 More pintucks for a total of THREE PINTUCKS

A trim of eyelet lace around the bottom

A second bow so I can have one on the dress and one in my hair. I plan to put eyelet lace on both of my bows to help distribute the ;ace more throughout the dress.

Six tiny bows made in class, One on each strap, and four on the skirt distributed somewhat equally!

Two straps that were later Handsewn into place!

Lace in the front pockets! I’m having a little trouble with the lace wanting to fall down/over the front instead of standing straight.

The blouse I was working on? I fitted the sides and now have extra fabric. I plan to make ruffles out of it but I’m not sure where on the blouse to put them. Suggestions?

There are some more issues to work out with the bodice shape, but overall is working fine.

I made little ruffles to attach on the straps outer side but I haven’t put them on yet.

I decided not to put lace on the blouse so it will fit other dresses, mainly the one that still hasn’t arrived from China that I’m awaiting.

1)- from when I was hand sewing the bottom frill earlier. 2) Pintuck troubles. When the dress has already been sewn it’s a little difficult to do, especially since the pins hated me and I was running low (a lot of my pins are in another project right now because I don’t slow down), so I used paperclips to hold the tuck in place between pins. Worked pretty well, but where harder to remove when trying to sew. i plan on adding two more pintucks minimum and then adding eyelet lace under the last one to just brush over the top of the frill. 3/4) first pintuck finished 5) Considering pinning the hairbow onto the front or making another bow for the front.

Zipper troubles: spent way too much time yelling at the zipper foot, and then once it was all said an done I had four inches worth of extra room in the waist, and has to make 1 inch darts at the top of the bodice. Also, the skirt is too long, so it’s time for some pin tucks.

Updates!

I watched this video and have been trying to teach myself how to draft a pattern for a torso area to make a JSK! I took my measurements, traced them out, added seam allowance, cut all my pieces and have been taking pictures and writing things down as I go so I ca make a somewhat comprehensive tutorial when it’s all said and done. In the first three pictures you can see my novice job at that, with the barely visible pattern and all.

Pictures 4-8 are pictures of me sewing together the pieces. They definitely need some work. f you can see it very well, the bodice has two little front pockets big enough for a cellphone, a snack, or whatever else. I have surplus fabric so instead of the planned one pocket I put in two. I might have to mess with the front bodice pieces so they fall better on my chest (I’m thinking one dart on each side will do the trick rn).

The Shirt:

When visiting my parents I asked for some button up shirts she didn’t want anymore so I could Lolitafy them. This is one of the shirts she gave me.

I cut off half the sleeve and started making frills (one attached on one arm right now).

I also plan on taking in the sides (basting stitches shown in the first image)

This is the first of maybe 6 shirts I plan to alter.

The Skirt:

It’s a simple rectangle skirt with a frill at the bottom so far.

The bow in the bottom picture is a headbow I sewed entirely by hand today. Its the same exact material/fabric as the skirt.

The frills on the skirt I’m less happy about as they are very uneven and kind of bad looking. I should fix those ASAP.

This is going to sound like the most cringe-worthy thing ever, but this skirt is being made from a bedsheet. From a thrift-store. It was 100% cotton, had no stains, rips or smells and was $3. We washed it and I’ve been cutting strips out of it.

This skirt is not any of the designs I’ve posted, sadly, just a normal rectangle skirt so I can get into the groove of them.

I’ll likely need to add pintucks, I think I cut the thing too long.
