loki’d?

i’ve seen this gifset before, and i know it’s one of his faves. what i didn’t notice before is how much he hams up his reproduction of LOKI’s facepalm moment.

in the film, LOKI is reserved and quiet. he simply closes his eyes and slowly lowers his face to his raised fingers… touching gently at first as if he has a headache, and then sliding into the gesture a little more. it’s really so expressive and not at all theatrical or campy. you get the sense that LOKI expects no one else to notice him; he’s not performing. this is just how he is handling his feelings in the moment.

in contrast, tom’s repeat performance is very exaggerated. eyeroll and gazing heavenward (which is notably absent in the original) followed by a slow-motion palm-smack to the forehead. almost a “thunk”. so overly performative and dramatic - it really looks far more like something seriesLOKI would do, than the LOKI tom is referencing.
