Perception has a unique game mechanic that ties across its aesthetic– a generative echolocation-visualization that’s a tug of war between your ability to see the world and your ability to hide from the horrible things around you– Perhaps a metaphor for our own lives? Why not deal with this predicament through the safe, interactive environment of videogame entertainment software? Hi friends! Thank you to everyone who has made it to our events this month, by which we mean our Indie Tech Talk with Andy Hull and our opening at the Ace Hotel for Art Video Games in China. Really quick, we would like to remind you that Art Video Games in China will remain free (!!!) and open to the public (!!!) until March 31st, so we really encourage you to go check it out.

If you were at the Indie Tech Talk you already know this, but we wanted to wait until after everyone was home from GDC to make a big official announcement. Well here it goes…. WE OFFICIALLY HAVE A LOCATION FOR THE BABYCASTLES GALLERY!! We’re incredibly excited about what this means for our future and we already have some pretty amazing plans for what we’d like to do with the space. So be on the look out, we’re going to have a lot of great announcements coming soon.

We of course couldn’t have made it to this point without the support of our Babycastles Gallery Members, so thank you to everyone who has already joined! On that note though, we’re going to have some news soon that our Members will gain priority access to due to extremely limited availability. That’s all we can say for now, so if you’ve been on the fence about joining now is a very good time to take the leap and officially join our Membership program.

Hey, so I would LOVE to do this, but the link is not working, and both Steam and the YoYo Games website still list the Standard version at $50. Can anyone tell me how to take advantage of this?

Here’s a handy walkthrough: http://t.co/VgrPhU0jVq. I picked it up this morning, but since Notch tweeted that link earlier today, I imagine a lot of other people jumped on it at the same time. The process is pretty straightforward—but here’s what the link above says:

To get your free copy of the Standard Edition, download the Free version of GameMaker Studio from this page. Once installed, a dialogue box will pop up, asking which update stream you want to draw from. Choose the Beta channel, and let the game install the latest beta release. From there, you can pick the option to register the Standard Edition. Enter you email address, and you’ll be sent an activation code.
