How often do Christians actually say that these days? The words “I forgive you” are rarely used. Christians would much rather get angry and lash out in their self-righteousness, accusing LGBT people and Democrats of destroying society. Something as simple as a fleeting scene in an animated film where a female character mentions her girlfriend trigger outrage and spark protests and petitions.

Where is your forgiveness then?

Where is your forgiveness when one of your children tells you they’re LGBT? You kick them out of your homes and churches, cut off support for them, threaten to pull their college funds, even accuse them of ruining YOU. Where is your forgiveness when a stranger disagrees on a simple issue involving your preferred political candidate? You put them down, insult them, and accuse them of being the bad guy and hating the President.

Where is your forgiveness, where is your Christian love, when someone says that they’ve been deeply hurt by your churches and their stances? You get defensive and angry. You blame your words and behavior on everyone but yourselves, deflecting responsibility to anything you can find in the moment. Forgiveness is a concept you utilize when it is convenient.

I say this knowing full well that I once played the same game. I did the same thing when I was younger. I hurt people and excused it by saying, “I’m not here to make you comfortable.” That was 100% wrong. It is still wrong.

I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:

IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.

1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.

2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.

3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”

4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”

5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.

TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.

You just survived 2020. That is a HUGE MCFUCKIN DEAL. Even if you did nothing else this year, you’ve accomplished a lot.

But all of us have accomplished things this year! Learned a new thing or got through something tough or tried something for the first time. Done pretty well at keeping up with at least one task/commitment. Voted in the election. Or just made a habit of wearing a mask correctly when in public! We’ve all achieved things. And they ALL matter.

Take some time and genuinely write them all down. Put them all in your reblog (or just write them for yourself if you don’t want to share publicly). Go back through your insta or something if you can’t remember what happened eight months ago (God knows I can’t!). Really take some time to give yourself credit for everything you’ve done this year.
