its sisterβs friend was at its familyβs house a lot. the two of them spent a lot of time together and sometimes it worked out that her friend was here before its sister was. it had her number so that she could ask it to let her in. even when it really wanted to, it knew better than to text her unprompted.
its sister wouldnβt be here for another hour, but her friend was watching anime on the couch. it liked her. it was all under the impression that it was best to make sure that no one ever found out how it felt. it sat on the couch as far away from her as possible. it pressed against the armrest hard enough that it was worried about tumbling over. it played on its phone quietly while she watched her show.

βoh itβs, nothing,β it gets a little flustered whenever she addresses it directly
βoh come on iβve been looking for something to play,β she slides over to sit directly next to it, her arm touches its, βarknights huhβ¦ i think ive heard of that one. cmon, show me your team.β
it shifts around uncomfortably, it would really rather not be touching her. it is a little bit excited at the prospect of getting to talk about the game. it freezes up a little staring at the main menu and trying to decide what to do next.
βoh whoβs this on the menu? is she your favorite?β she pauses for a moment, βshe kinda looks like me doesnβt she? i think iβve even got an outfit like thatβ¦β
it has to find a way to avoid having her say anything else, βso hereβs my teamβ¦ iβm pretty new so i donβt have a lot of the best ones yet.β
βwoah there she is again and sheβs way higher level than anyone else, so i guess that is your favorite huh. whatβs her name?β she presses closer to look at the screen, βInes..β
it turns its phone off, βi just remembered i need to do homework and chores.β
it darts off and hides itself in its room. it hyperventilates a bit. it actually does have homework to do. it decides to try and use this to distract itself.
after about an hour of studying it finally feels relaxed enough to play on its phone again. it lays in bed and goes through a few levels. it takes that character off its team, and this makes the game so much harder that it quits playing again. it closes its eyes to try and sleep. the chores can wait until tomorrow.
it wakes up early the next day. it has a few missed text messages from its sister and her friend. the texts from its sister are scolding it for not doing the chores, and asking why it went to bed at 8. it doesnβt really want to look at the texts from her friend, but it does.
