ZH1. you fall in love for the first time when you do actually fall on your face. In a way, your wife took your years of training and made it seem as if you had just begun. You were partnered up with her in an attempt to discover your weaknesses, to provide yourself an overall balance. what you soon learn is you’ll develop a new weakness, in the beautiful brown of her eyes as she looks at you, sharp and teasing, arms folded together and stance strong, an area you haven’t quite solved yet. she puts you down a few more times, helps you discover that your height could be a blessing or a curse depending on where you went with it. she also takes your father’s training, years of hardening yourself and burying your emotions and rips them right out of you, leaves them on the floor and gives you a choice: pick them back up quickly and place them where they were before or allow someone else to clean them up for you. to this day, you never regretted this decision, no matter if the ending you got wasn’t one you wanted.
ZH2. the first time you see blue eyes, your heart heals all over. you also learn just how unbelievably selfish you’re going to be. she’s got her tiny little fingers wrapped around your big one, tight, as if she’s placed her hand over your heart in an attempt to mend your errors. you’ll soon learn that she’s not going to be there when you make your biggest one.
ZH3. She’s young when she tells you that she wants to be like you and her mother, fighting for good, for kind hearts and to make a real difference in her every day life. She wants to fight for something. She wants to belong in the sky, wants to fight side by side with the people she respects, wants to be like the pink ranger, a wonder of a fighter and exceptional. It’s one of many firsts, a present that you hoped to give her later and not when she wants to join a fight that is threatening to break out, no matter how hard you and your team are working on containing it. it’s simple, like her mother but teaches her a lesson, like you. It reminds her of her value, her importance, her power inside of herself and it’s also what you’ll receive when the fight breaks, the evil leaks out and corrupts even the brightest of corners. It’s the only reminder of her you’ll ever recieve.
ZH4. you begin voicing your disappointment of child soldiers, capable of so much more than joining a war started by their ancestors and resulting in their slaughter. You begin voicing their worth is more in their safety than in their parents having to visit another burial, regardless of the pride they hold over their how important it is to have this rank, this title and this honor. You begin to understand just how absolutely selfish your first child has made you when the friends around you start losing their own children to this nightmare that’s erupted. you begin to make arrangements and a promise you hope your wife can keep: their child must never be introduced to combat and bloodshed. Value their innocence over the honor of their planet.
ZH5. You didn’t deserve them. Your planet has fallen, the damage has been done and everywhere around you, the screams, the pleas, the cries for help and sanctuary get louder. the screams of your teammates, the last of them, colors that were once so bright and encompassing have turned bleak and dead. You have been a disappointment to all of them and you will always be a man full of anger and sadness at the ones you currently train. A human innocence, so unlike your own planet — more emotional, more expressive, having an inner turmoil in themselves and having to than take on inevitable death.
