#20 Ethnography (Toy R'Us) Integration of applications and toys
As much as observations are done on children, one can’t help but to look at the toys that are sold in Toy R’Us. It has been ages since I stepped into one, and I realized the difference in the type of toys children nowadays are exposed to.
Generally, many toys need batteries. Many of the toys afford children pressing onto them and in turn produce an audio or visual respond to children. What amazed me was the integration of board games and phone applications. Games such as Cluedo and Monopoly are board games that are playable it. However, creators of these games included the capability to use their applications on the phone to enhance the experience children can have. There were also games that were inspired by applications such as Angry Bird. In addition, toys such as guns with projectiles can now be attached with iPhone, like the ‘Nerf N-strike elite battle app tactical rail mount accessory’.
