The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Visits the NYSE
On Monday, December 30, representatives from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), a voluntary health agency that exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients, will visit the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). LLS closes out the year nearing the $1 billion mark in investments in blood cancer research since its inception in 1949. These investments have helped advance breakthrough therapies to treat blood cancer patients.
To mark the occasion, LLS President and CEO John Walter, will ring the NYSE Closing Bell.
Watch the video here.
How cool is that?
Actor Charles Esten, who portrays Deacon Claybourne on the hit ABC series “Nashville,” will appear as a contestant on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” with new host Cedric “The Entertainer” in episodes airing Wednesday, November 20 and Thursday, November 21, and will donate his winnings to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Esten’s 13-year-old daughter, Addie, was diagnosed with leukemia at age 2 1/2 and, thanks to advances in treatment, is thriving today. Because of their personal connection to blood cancer, Chip, his wife Patty, and the entire Esten clan are strong supporters of LLS.
"It was a dark and scary day when we found out that our Addie had leukemia. The first ray of light was the reassurance from our doctor that there was hope - there were medicines and procedures that could help our little girl. All that hope, and all that help, came from research…research made possible with funds raised by LLS and other organizations. That's why we're so thankful and committed to LLS. I'm excited that a fun experience on ‘Millionaire’ can be used to raise money and recognize the serious work of LLS, which is making a positive difference for blood cancer patients and their families.”
“Millionaire” airs weekdays in national syndication. Check local listings or go to http://www.millionairetv.com for time and channel.

It's been ONE WEEK since LLS and dozens of Minnesota celebrities and anglers took over Lake Minnetonka in search the lake's biggest lunker...and we already can't even wait until next year's Lefties Lunkers event!
So who won the inaugural year of the bass fishing tournament?
1st Place - 17.94lbs - Brian Simon, Mark Parrish & Brian Hoppe
2nd Place - 15.26lbs - Brian Krause & Scott Thoma
3rd Place - 14.92lbs - Noah Schultz, Quincy Lewis & Nadine Babu
But of course, LLS was the biggest winner of them all! All proceeds from the fishing tournament went to funding LLS' life-saving mission of curing blood cancers, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families. We're hoping to reel in even more participants and donations in the future years of the tournament!
Special thanks to Brian Duensing & Glen Perkins for hosting and organizing the event, as well as to Lord Fletcher's for serving as an excellent venue!
Come on down to @myburgerusa lake Calhoun tonight and 25% of proceeds will go to LLS (at My Burger)
SAVE LIVES...and money!
Buy a 25% off shopping pass to Macy’s for a $5 (or more!) donation, which goes to our local chapter of LLS. Then shop ‘til you drop at Macy’s next Saturday, 8/24.

^and don't forget to share that link on your own social media networks! You can even purchase multiples and resell them as a fundraiser for your Light The Night team!
behold...BALLOON BEAUTY! For the FIRST TIME EVER in Minnesota Chapter Light The Night history, the Target Field concourse will be decorated with beautiful balloon columns like the ones in the photos above... and you have the chance to sponsor one!
Sponsoring a balloon column with the photo and name of the person or reason that you walk for requires a donation of $500. We encourage those of you who are interested to have a conversation with your employer, or with a local business you frequent to help you reach this sponsorship level. Let them know their logo can be featured on the column’s sign along with your team’s decoration. The $500 donation these companies make for your team’s balloon column will also go toward your fundraising goal.
It’s an opportunity that makes EVERYONE a winner!
· The sponsoring company wins because it receives exposure along the Light The Night walk route, the opportunity to support LLS and a tax deduction.
· Your team wins because the $500 donation goes directly to your team’s fundraising total.
· LLS wins because more money is raised for research and patient services.
· The patients win because the money raised helps fund research, which saves lives!
Please let LTN director Kelly Christianson know if you have any additional questions by emailing her at [email protected]. Balloon Column sponsorships MUST be purchased by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 in order for your unique signage to be printed and ready by Walk Day!
